    Great videos you’re making with good hints and tips. What’s the black thing you got on your right wrist, is it for work purposes?

      Thanks mate, glad you enjoy them. It's a magnetic wristband I got off eBay for holding case screws, etc so I don't lose them 😉

    Hi, great video. Is the wiring the same for the Ideal Vouge Max Combi 40?

    Great Vid!!! Is the Hive Mini programmable or do I need a Hive Active for this?

    Thanks for the video. What would you do with existing thermostats/heating controls?

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  9 місяців тому +2

      You would remove them and depending how they've been wired you could reuse the existing wiring for the hive

    The HIVE is all connected correctly and sending the signal to the control valve, but the boiler isn't lighting. I've removed the time clock so that is just an off and on on the main panel. Am i missing something?

      Would need to see if you're getting power on the switch live to the boiler

    Great explanation! What would happen if I didn't link the L+1 together? Changing my old Danfoss programmer to a Hive thermostat and can only see a 5 core cable, but only permanent live and switch live cables are connected to current programmer/thermostat, which made my wonder. Many thanks

      @cputilitysolutions  10 місяців тому +2

      You may have a separate permanent live feed going to the common terminal. If so then that wire will go into no.1. If not then then you need to put the link in to give power to the common terminal 👍🏾

    Which wiring ferrules do you use size wise?

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  4 місяці тому +1

      Depends on the cable size, they come in a pack of various different sizes, mainly I use 0.75mm or 1mm

    Can you run the cable from the fused spur into the receiver? Then run a cable from their to the boiler?

    On older worcester bosch boilers the connector block is soldered to the PCB called ST10. are new ones now losses as shown in the video?

    Hi you have probably heard this question before, but I currently have a dual channel receiver for separate heating and water control (installed myself using instructions) but I will be moving to a house with a comb boiler. Is it possible to wire the dual channel as a single channel? It just seems like a complete waste of money if I have to buy a single receiver. There is a rumour it can be done, but know one has shared a definitive. I want to call an engineer out to do the work but I don't won't waste his or my time if I have to buy a single receiver / kit. Any advice would be great.

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  10 місяців тому +3

      Hi, yes it can be done but you have to alter the wiring accordingly to suit and you leave out the hot water side of wiring

    • @theblackprophet1
      @theblackprophet1 10 місяців тому +1

      @@cputilitysolutions thank you for clarification. I thought it would be something like that but wanted to make sure. I still gonna call an engineer in though at least I know it can be done. Better to be safe.

    • @cputilitysolutions

      I can't say without seeing the receiver and the wiring setup. It sounds like you've got 2 Live & 2 Neutral probably supplying something else too

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  6 місяців тому +2

      @@ericthekingthekingtheking4842 ok you'd need to check if that blue wire in common is a permanent live and the brown in 3 goes back to the switch live on the boiler. If so then it should work

    You don’t need the earth. So you can just run 3 core and put red sleeving round the earth and use that as the ch on.

    • @cputilitysolutions

      Not allowed to use earth as a live conductor anymore as per 18th edition if I'm not mistaken - but hey I'm no sparks!

      The earth definitely can't be used as a live or switch wire its also in the cable for protection and testing (r1 +r2 )I usually run a 5 core cable from the boiler to the controller I just find it easier

    The Hive won’t modulate any boiler making it a poor choice.
