Using Mac OS Sonoma on a 2015 MacBook Pro

- 2015 MBP was released in mid 2015, and that makes it approximately an 8-year-old machine. Yes, the 2015 MBP has started showing some aging through some lagging and that’s for the content creators like me, this means for an average consumer who uses Microsoft Office and some light browsing this is still a perfect machine and would always recommend it to my viewers. One because of price, this machine can be got cheap from eBay and Back-market. Not sponsors of this video. Second is the unibody which makes this machine feel solid and premium still in 2023.

This is NOT A Unibody Macbook! The Unibody Macbook ended with the Mid 2012 MBP non Retina.

Is it very hot on Sonoma? Warming up issue
I recently bought a refurbished early 2015 13" mbp and the fan did run a bit the first few days after I installed Sonoma. I eventually decided to replace the thermal paste on the CPU and afterwards the fan hardly kicks on. So it could have been the paste or just time for the iOS to work the kinks out while running it. Now 3 weeks later, the fan doesn't come on if i'm just web browsing or using basic apps, and Sonoma runs fine... However, I do notice that if I use the new Sonoma screen saver, it does stress the CPU and the fan will start running pretty high after a few mins. So i just stuck to old screen savers and wall paper without any heating issues. Hope that helps.

Two months after adding this video, do you still think it is worth updating to snoma, and is it working well for you so far?
Personally I would recommend, I switched back to macos monterey
I have a 2015 and I downloaded Sonoma, however it would not let me connect to the internet. Is there any work around?
I would highly advise to look at Mr Macintosh tutorials, that would help

i have a similar machine, but 13. It's a i7 3.1ghz, 16gb. will sonoma do well?
absolutely I have the 8gb version and it's quieter and faster on Sonoma

After I installed it, the fan made a lot of noise and generated a lot of heat. Is there any solution?
Unfortunately theirs no solution for that, you just find a way to live with it
Mine did generate a lot of heat the first few days, so I decided to replace the thermal paste. Afterwards it didn't over heat as much, and eventually over a week or so, the fans have hardly came on while i'm just doing basic web browsing or using basic apps. Also I don't us any of the Sonoma wall papers or screen savers, mine does generated a lot of heat when I did use them. So I'm not sure if it was the thermal paste or just giving the computer time to work in Sonoma.

Yes it heats up because the aluminum base acts as a heat conductor
it is slow on sonoma
Did you wipe the mac clean, then install sonoma and then time machine to get files back?
