  • In 2015, the MacBook Por was given a small upgrade, with a new trackpad, processor(s), and some extra battery life. So why do people still love and remember it so much compared to the models that followed it? Lets find out!
Sorry for some audio glitches in this video, my microphones not working quite right but i had to get a video out before i go away so hopefully it's tolerable.

I apologize for some of the audio issues in this video. My microphone isn’t working properly and I had to fix the audio up later. I’m away at the moment but when I get back I’ll have a new microphone so there shouldn’t be any issues moving forward.
Anyways hope you all had a good Christmas/Holiday Season, next video will be up in a month.

Just bought a 2015 15” this year. You can’t update the OS, numbers and pages won’t install/run and chrome is a bit laggy - but safari runs smoothly! Other than that, the machine works really well! I’m a web developer and I also use the mac for music production and so far no complaints.

OpenCore Legacy will allow the latest MacOS on older unsupported machines. I have it installed and it runs flawlessly

The 2015 13 inch pro was amazing. Mine lasted until now. but with over 1000cycles and busted speakers it was time for a replacement. Got a M2 MacBook Air and it blows away the 2015 pro in almost every regard. It's lighter, faster, has a better keyboard, better battery life, bigger trackpad, bigger screen, etc.... Liking it a lot so far after a few weeks

I'm still using my early 2015 MBP until last month. No plans to sell this but to give it to my son for school use.

As a musician I was excited about the newer models but they sent me crying back to my trusty MBP 2015. The silicone chips rendered some of my hardware and plugins unusable with AWFUL performance in Logic Pro. Endless crashes and CPU spikes. They're probably great for everything else but not for music production.

The 2015 macbook pro will be great for me to buy as I can get it for pretty cheap, upgrade it(if needed), and even use usb intsallers with ease

They still use the same display to this day on the MBP. I think they’ll change that this year finally. I’m going to put Sonoma on mine soon

I built a lab full of Macs two of my daily drivers for basic stuff are the dual graphics 2015 Macbook Pros. I run Linux virtual Machines on them. They still work like new. Just as usable as my M1 Macs in 2024

The last good one before the 16-inch i9 came out. I got myself the M1 Pro 16-inch running Sonoma and I’m still using the mid-2015 MBP with 16 gb RAM, the AMD R9 M370 with 2GB and 512 GB drive. Just needed to change the battery for the 2015 one last year.

Is it still good for bachelor level programming ? If yes which specific features to look for in one ?? 🤟🤟

    • @MrDucklangTech
      @MrDucklangTech  Місяць тому

Hi! Sorry for a late reply, the 2015 MacBook Pro would likely be ok for programming, but not amazing. It's recommended you have at least 16GB of RAM so if it has that then it could probably work well enough, but i wouldn't recommend buying one. I'd look at something from at least 2018-19, but something newer than that would have Apple Silicon which would be much better. Definitely find something with at least 16GB of RAM, and preferably with 500GB of storage. Depending on where you are the Apple refurbished store could have some good deals on M1/M2 MacBooks. Depending on your budget i'd recommend an M1/M2 MacBook Pro or Air with 16GB RAM, but if you have a little more to spend its worth looking at an M1 Pro/M2 Pro MacBook Pro as they come with 16GB of RAM and 500GB of storage as base. Hope this helps and good luck!

@@qyucide Look brotha. Open Core Legacy/Dortania used to be a fucking pain to install. UA-cam here has some very easy tutorials and it really is very easy. open Core now is simple prompts to follow and basically jusat click the prompts

    • @Mbro-dq2do

I was a rookie when I learned how to use it. Get any cheap 16gb thumb drive or a few. Type in "Download open core legacy" in a browser. Seriously just follow the tutorial. You install open core to your desired Mac. Im a collector of old macs and let me tell you. I have a 2008 all the way to 2017 Macs all running Ventura or sonoma perfectly. Some old Macs I have baremetal Linux which runs even better then Mac OS but I have a 2012 unibody macbook running Sonoma flawlessly. Fully integrated with my Iphones.

Nice review. You should also mention that the 15” version is much faster as it has quad core i7 as standard across all models and all have 16 gb of ram. Also the ssd controler is much faster. You can get 3 gb/s if combined with fast enough drive. In contrast the 13 inch ones are all only dual core.
