4K/60p: LIRR M3 Front Window Jamaica to Atlantic Terminal

- Got my day started really early to drop off something and still had plenty of time leftover. Picked up an M3 from Hempstead en route to Atlantic Terminal on Friday November 4th. Had a partner with me, as you can hear a bit of chatter. Towards the end, you'll hear the conductor interact as they need to be up front when entering any Terminal with a Bumper block at the end as per Special Instructions. Normally the video would end just before the Terminal, however I devised a suction cup and used it to anchor my phone to the window, allowing me to keep recording ALL the way up to the bumper block without me being near it. I can't guarantee you can do this as some Conductors may say no as they need to be able to look down. Enjoy!

In my life time ,i am 80 , never seen such a train service, being a retired rly man. Thanks for sharing.
I live in Brooklyn and I occasionally travel this route to visit family in Nassau County. I had no idea that there was an abandoned station between Jamaica & ENY stations. Guess you learn something new every day. Nice video.
Thanks!
It was the former Woodhaven neighborhood station. Discontinued circa 1972 due to very few passengers that were enough to fill 1 NYC Transit bus.
Nice. I'been taking this train for a couple of years and I always wondered how the view looks from the front. Glad this video showed in my feed. Thx.
It’s nice to see the views of Brooklyn
What a nice LIRR train ride from Jamaica to Atlantic terminal. : )
It sure is!
@@MrMaster767 Keep up the good work on your UA-cam videos. : )
I rode the train from Gibson Station to Atlantic Terminal dozens of times but never got to see the view from the RFW. Thank you for sharing this.
My pleasure!
Thanks for going all the way to the end of the line. Awesome vid!!
Glad you liked it!
Very well done. Thank you!
Thanks!
Hi from Detroit - Like to make a suggestion if that is OK - At the start of the video show us on a map the starting point and end point of your train trips.- Google Earth or Maps - I am like the movie The Outer Towner - Lost in The Big Apple. Cool trip and thanks for the ride. 🚂
I prefer to only do that for flights.
4:50 Woodhaven Station. I remember passengers getting on but not getting off! Station closed 1976.
Yup!
If I remember correctly, conductors have had to be with the operator/engineer to Atlantic after that crash. Glad this conductor was okay with the way you set up the camera!
Some may allow it others may not. Permission and honesty comes a long way.
I saw abandoned subway right platform 4:51
Is JAY Tower still manned? Abandoned Woodhaven Station at 4:52
Everything is in JCC in the Airtrain building.
I haven’t rid on an M3 since 2012, when is the next one passing by Ronkonkoma?
Good work, but this train barely averaged 60 MPH from portal to platform, about 4.25 miles in 4m10sec. The trains used to go 80 in that tunnel. Everything sucks! And by the way if they reopened Woodhaven Station one quarter of the people served by a never-to-be re-activated Rockaway Branch could have rail service in 2023. Advocates, fight for that instead of opposing the micromobility greenway that we could have soon. But the average constituent with any kind of meaningful political status is more interested in free parking for their third family car.
Nice video
Do you know why there was a frequent bell rung in the background? A warning of some kind? Phone?
And what exactly did the announcer say about the last two cars - that the train was longer than the platform? Sorry I don't get it.
Short rings are the Alerter. Long rings mean the speed code is dropping. Conductor stated the last 2 cars will not open.
@@MrMaster767
Thanx. I wonder why they allow people to use cars whose doors will not be opened??
@merc cadoosis Trains are made by the platform length. Some platforms are shorter than others. You can walk freely from train car to train car. If you're on the last cars of the train that will not make the upcoming platform. All you need to do is walk toward the front. I like the rear cars. Quieter more people tend to sit up front for this reason.
Nice👍
Brings me back to 1990 getting off 1st stop..then walking to bwy.junction. east new York Station to take A train
I'm curious about why we don't have autonomous trains yet. Cars, trucks and.planes can operate autonomously but a train on a track can't? Someone please explain this to me.
We're a VERY Long ways from that.
Very cool
Thanks!
I lived all the way at the end of the Port Jeff branch on Columbia. My father worked for the LIRR
That's nice. I assume retired?
@@MrMaster767 yes
Did these retire when the r42 and r32 retired or they still running
Different transit agencies and services; hence different equipment.
East New York station doesn't really live up to the name!
Whatever works lol
does anyone know why some of the tunnel has those bright overhead lights that seem to turn on and off?
I didn't realize that Mexico looked like this?
