- There are 4 groups of Old Order Mennonites or Horse and Buggy Mennonites that live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They are the Groffdale, Stauffer, Reidnebach, and Noah Hoover Groups. (Since this video was created the members of the Noah Hoover group have started to move away to another settlement. They weren't able to establish a settlement in the area) They are nicknamed the Wenger, Pike, and the 35ers respectively. The Noah Hoover group hasn't a nickname. Among these major groups there are split off groups that would be classified as the main group. They live an Old Order life much as the Amish in Lancaster County do. The video will further explain the differences and similarities.
I live by an old order Amish, and most of the ones you are filming are not old order. Please get your facts straight, have a good day.
…and you don’t have a clue what you are talking about! You are commenting on an Old Order Mennonite video and telling me I don’t know Old Order Amish.
This clip is about Old Order Mennonites, not Amish.
@LancoAmish videos are very interesting to me I always interested in amish and mennonite groups I'm looking at dressing and living there life style just not involved in a church I'm from and live in NH I don't believe we have them up here
My bloodline was booted from Switzerland and my 7th great uncle immigrated to the new world around 1630 because of William Tells stories , He was Mennonite, I have ancestry all over Pa.
My hubby's ancestry the Eby clan of Mennonites, Amish and Church of Brethren. 1500'S Switzerland to Germany to Canada and PA to escape religious prosecution
My mom's side of the family were Quakers that came with Wm Penn in 1862, settled in Bucks Co and later what became Cecil Co. Md. after the Mason Dixon line was made. I like seeing the ram working , my Grandfather had one till they got electric in 1937. My Grandfather and uncle sold their dairy herd @ 1960 , and just grew crops that my uncle sold at the hay auctions.
Thanks for watching and the info. I know of a few rams still around but this is the only one now that I know that is working. I’m sure there are others but are out of sight.
Wm Penn was dead in 1862.
That young lady driving the hay wagon was showing that pair draft horses who is boss.
She will be rumschpiringing soon😝😝 some lucky dude.
Enjoy your videos, we have Brethren relatives in Lancaster Co.. However, with all the good recordings of Old Mennonite singing out there, I would think it would be more fitting to have that music as background music for these videos instead of the worldly sounding music you play.
Thanks for watching and the suggestion. Most music is copyrighted and is illegal to use in my videos. I’d have to be able to purchase a usage license to use copyrighted music. The music I use is licensed. If I were to use copyrighted music 3 times I get banned from UA-cam. I can’t take the chance.
I have worked with Amish, Old Order Mennonites and Conservative Mennonites. In our area the Conservative Mennonites drive cars, pickups, tractors, use cell phones and computers and the Old Order Mennonites are as in this video. The Amish here are horse power, no electricity and homes without any decoration or conveniences. There is big difference between the three groups.
One thing I have never had any of them ask me about or question my choice of religion and none of them have ever talked to me about their religion.
I wonder if they buy Dutch bikes? I would not be surprised if they did. American bicycles are engineered to fail.
Is that tobacco he's harvesting? How disappointing.
Love the song played ..It's to bad the Amish don't like to talk on camera we could learn a lot more from there perspective....Thanks for sharing this Amazing Video..🤗 Watching from Denver, Colo
There is an Amish group called "beechy" Amish. There's vids on YT of them.
The Bible tells us that following rules, rituals and traditions and church rule can never get one to heaven. Trying to do good is admirable but the only way to heaven is by faith in Jesus apart from all works. Jesus said if you are trying to get to heaven by works and by the law that you are cursed because cursed is everyone who tries to get to heaven by the law and doesn't keep the whole law. Mankind breaks the law everyday and cannot keep the law. Jesus kept the law 100% and when we trust Him, totally apart of our doing or works, we are born again. Jesus imputes His righteousness to us and it says we now have a better stronger law written on our hearts. Many will think they are saved by trying to follow church or doing good works and completely miss the free gift of salvation given to those who believe in Him
Most certainly. Good works are an indication of one’s salvation (gratitude) and not a prerequisite for salvation. Thanks for watching and leaving the great explanation.
Their way of life is far more wholesome than millions of others way of life.they live the good way .😊
Slippery slope comparing a culture to the religion. I have my ways my culture and THATS NOT MY FAITH. ha you have fun with that. Born and raised in lancaster. Now living in a mennonite area in another county. Different culture , mindset, same faith. Awesome hard working neighbors.
EXACTLY RIGHT!!!! YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN & have the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST applied to your heart/soul TO ENTER THE GATES OF HEAVEN... even though there's HUNDREDS OF Different Denominations!!!
I really enjoy seeing the videos about the differences berween the ones that are amish. Also having the opportunitybto see it with my own eyes.
No need for the songs and music; especially that awful “California...” song; I'm not impressed!! Much more helpful would be a narrative, and tell us what the crops are... 😮🙄😆🤑😧😲🤡😺🐒🐎🐇🐔🐤🦜🦆🕊
You can always turn the volume down. It’s hard to please everyone! Wasn’t there a narrative?
Elders decide what is allowed in community. Most Swiss German Americans r connected to Lancaster Penn in genealogy. 😊
Such beautiful music!!!
Are they harvesting tobacco leaves?
They harvest the entire plant…then hung on rafters to cure…
He has it straight we are drivers been all over america there are many groups but one Bible how's that work ? And Jesus taught to pray for kingdom to come to earth!!!
What is the device on the creek, and what does it do?
That is using water power to provide the power to pump a “cucumber” water pump away from the stream possibly at the house. A tight wire transfers the power.
Here’s a link to a video I found for you.

Why steel on tractors, yet they are allowed rubber tires on implements?
As it was explained to me…anything with steering and the ability to travel with has steel wheels. Rubber is ok on wagons and implements. It’s to keep their community and families close knit. It’s a choice they’ve made as a church.
thank you for the explanation@@LancoAmish
Who was the German ones that was in Detroit Michigan
Worst pick in song for a Amish Mennonite video
Pick some songs for me. I’d appreciate it. 🙂
@@LancoAmish anything except California....
Enjoyed the video,
Great storys about them
Interesting………so……steel wheels with rubber treads…….the only thing different than regular tractor tires is air……which God provides abundantly……yet they reject it. Hmmmmmmmm 🤔🤔
They reject it because it would make the tractor too convenient to use as a mode of transportation and possibly cause strain to the important family and community cohesiveness. It has little or nothing to do with what God provides or doesn’t provide. It’s the same reason they use horse and buggy. As the rest of society yearns for community the Amish and Mennonites both have that community.
@@LancoAmish looked like it was a”mode of transportation “ traveling down the road in this video.
@@patriotstanding6292 , a mode of transportation to travel long distances…I know you knew that and figured it out from the context of my reply but I thought I’d clarify for others.
Cult
Please elaborate. If you are a former Mennonite I’d love to hear your views.
@@LancoAmishShe clearly is not. People like this just do not like theism. Let alone orthodox practices passed down through centuries of tradition. The Mennonite’s are a wonderful people and I am in awe of the old order mennonites and how they live. I wish there was a community in my home country.
More than that: they're a brand. Nothing what they claim they are. Most don't grow the food they display on their stands, but rather buy them from the auction. They are rude beyond repair (not all, but many), quite shrewd business people, and the men are disrespectful to women.
Wow the lady with the large horses , did she actually punch that beautiful animal ?
That lady is about 14. These aren’t play animals…they work and if they don’t obey they can do something that kills people. That punch didn’t hurt that horse only made it take notice.
❤❤❤❤
Music to loud 😢😢
Ia your volume button broken? Easy fix there, friend.
.
From Germany !!!??? Apparently you known nothing. They From Switzerland and East of France (Alsace)
Nope, I believe the first Mennonites in Lancaster County were living in the German Palatinate region. Perhaps you should research where these immigrants were living before they came to PA.
Join a cult, and you can be special to
I am looking for the Hiestands! TY!
This is not a true picture of the Amish, particularly the Old Order
…Because it’s about the Old Order Mennonites. The Mennonites and Amish are different groups.
