  • The Gordonville Fire Company Mud Sale is the largest farm equipment sale of its kind on the east coast. It's the largest MUD Sale in the world. Mud sales originated in Lancaster County, PA almost 60 years ago when the Bart Township Fire Company conjured up the idea of having a donation/consignment auction to raise funds for the fire company. Today, dozens of Lancaster County fire companies (and a few outside the county) put on these fund raising sales.

    The mysterious items is an alley scraper used to clean the manure from the barn alleys

    • @tituspullo1957

      They are made from used earthmover or tractor tires.Also if you catch the concrete in the alley ways the rubber will flex unlike a steel scraper which possibly could break the concrete.

    Live about an hour from there and never attended. My wife took me to Kinzer once, where they have the big tractor event and flea market.
    I know all of the food had to be awesome too.
    Although it may seem corny to some people, it is something everyone should experience as a part of true Americana.
    We also went to the Green Dragon farm market once and participated in the auction. I picked up a great metal work bench for our garage for $15. Then, we have a real close farm market on the Pa.-Del. border about 15 mins away. The Amish come every weekend and sell, food, meat, produce, and baked goods, that are the best.

    The item at 4:23 appears to be a homemade snow pusher or it could be used to push manure. It mounts on a Skid steer quick attach. That is my guess

    I think what you need to do is explain to the people where the money goes to and how it spent. I’m from Oxford PA like Chester County and I know where the money goes and we spent that would be a good subject for one of your videos, so we knowother people now but I think it’s a great video cause I was up there that day and oh my God it was crazy totally crazy

    Do all machinery items usually reach their reserve price?

    • @LancoAmish
      @LancoAmish  29 днів тому

      Pretty much. If it doesn’t reach the reserve in the auction the auctioneer will ask if anyone wants to purchase at the reserve price. Not everything has a reserve price. There’s plenty of barnyard cleanup going on during these sales.

    That is the dumbest statement in the world @paulbuckner there are some Amish that aren't too bright, but many are geniuses they can engineer and or reverse engineer, just about anything with no Internet no directions no help. Imagine turning every item in your house to work on battery or air power. Washing machines ,refrigerators ,fans. I grew up on Amish. Their religion has many flaws, but hard work and being able to fix repair and modify anything is something they are great at.

    • @LancoAmish
      @LancoAmish  2 місяці тому +2

      It’s only the outside world that believes the Lancaster Amish don’t use technology and that includes you and your silly remark. They’ve used solar for years and it was more used in their community before the outside area and they haven’t hidden that. They’ve used computers for bookkeeping in their businesses for decades now. They’ve used LED lights on their carriages before they were popular on automobiles. I could go on and on but I will only continue if you wish me to. It’s only in your mythological world where your premise is valid.
