I lurked around BAT (bring a trailer) for over a year looking for my 996 and finally got tired of being outbild on cars with high mileage and fetching crazy prices. A 2001 986 S came up (IMS solution, front spacers, 987 18" rims, Potenza RE 71s, GT3 console delete, ball bearing short shifter, EVOMS intake, aftermarket SS exhaust with secondary cat delete, GT2RS Alcantera shifter, driver shelf delete, 996 GT3 seats, GT3 control arms and RoW M030 suspension) and I snagged it for much less than a 911. Cannot be happier with my decision to go 986 regardless of what the Pcar purists may think. It handles as if on rails and putting the top down makes it that more visceral (South Florida). Most bang for the buck with second going to the MX5 (another hairdresser car).
look at the times the boxster s and the 911 carerra ran at the ring... they're within 1-1.5 seconds.

Where did you get it from?
The 986 Boxter is going to become a classic and good ones will start to appreciate, the simple lines are aging very well and look better and better as time goes by. As a tall person I find the ergonomics of them a bit too small, so I went down the 911 route (997 Carrera 2S). The entry level Carreras also benefit from the same mods, understeer from the factory and are held back on power. Suspension and breathing mods with Pagid RS brake pads and GT3 master cylinder really unlock the potential of the car (380bhp+, same as the gen 2 996 GT3).
Bruno did this to my Boxster S. 7yrs ago and i have smashed the life out of it in every gear, every week since.
And it is F..cking fantastic.
Never let me down and still going strong. I LOVE BRUNO, but not as much as i love this car.

I own both a 911 and a 986 Boxster and I will always love and enjoy the way the Boxster drives. It truly is a great little sports car that puts a smile on your face every time. Sounds awesome too! The cone filter Intakes make a huge difference in the wailing sound above 5000 rpm. Absolutely screams, never gets old!

Nice to see this but to be honest, this has been a known fact for close 20 years that the 986 3.2 S is greatly detuned..Just a few tweaks unleashes the deadly power in this relatively light car. Actual dyno of 310 hp with bolt ons and tune, check Rennlist. Once you change the exhaust to catless headers and bypass pipes it sounds and drives manic..Ask me how I know? :) 986 S Owner for the last 17 years. "Best Kept Secret"

Love em, cracking car. I have a modified 996 , and nearly bought a boxter. My 996 has a larger plenum, k&n dual bypass exhaust and remap. Mine is a 3.4 standard 300 bhp, running 335 at the moment. This will go straight in a boxter. Get a boxter with an ims issue for £1500 get a 3.4 and modify it for £5k you have a bargain super car

We had exactly the same color combination and it is still my favorite boxster: totally simple and no-nonsense interior, great driving position that feels a bit like in a go cart ...and the screaming engine just behind you is just fantastic and a bit addictive....because it wants you to step on it and really rev it up. The limits of these cars a way higher than those of average drivers. Get one and enjoy the flat six natural aspirated engine....they are already history.

There's an ex-Porsche engineer of some kind who makes exhausts for these in Belgium iirc. Exhausts how he thought they should have came...my dad got one on his Boxster S and it sounds completely fucking different. It sounds ridiculously good, incredibly stupidly good. I've never heard an aftermarket exhaust sound anywhere near as good.

I have a 2002 Boxster I also owned an early 911 but I must say I much prefer the Boxster, I don’t care what people say they just don’t know.

Get a flat 6 986/987/981 boxster/cayman while you can, the latest 718's are all turbo flat 4's - faster & more torque - but miss the howl of the flat 6. I've got an old 987 with a Remus, not fast compared to todays metal but the noise & handling is addictive... and it's plenty quick enough for me.

I have driven 911 turbos, GTR’s, M3’s, corvettes and a shitload of other sportscars. None of them come even close to the fun a boxster gives you. People like to shit on them for the power and stigma but they are easily the best drivers cars available.
Bds performance do great work. Keep it up and look forward to more of these cars.

Mid engine cars typically don't have 50-50 weight distribution. They are made in a way to keep the weight around the center of the car. It doesn't need 50-50 weight distribution.
Implying there’s a difference between having centre of mass in the centre of car and 50-50 weight distribution..

I'm currently looking into buying a boxter a for a build I'm planning and was going to engine swap it due to the horror stories I hear about the engine and such. Be easier if I didn't have to of course 😂 the way that's driven it looks pretty reliable. Is it still alive and kicking?
