once they are dry and brown i gather them and boil them for 5 or 10 minutes , let them cool and put them in my aquariums . they provide tannins and lots of tiny nooks and crannies for beneficial bacteria to live in .

That is really cool! Do you have salt water or fresh water aquariums?

@@BagANut freshwater , and freshwater shrimp like cherry shrimp really like them in the tank as they graze on the biofilm that grows on them.

AND,,They make great defense weapons if you have barefooted zombies or pirates chasing you.. Simply throw a handful behind you as you are running, and they will never catch up to you..

Used as mulch seems like a decent idea. It might also keep animals out of the flower beds.

@@jamessickmore236 I agree! I want them gone because it's a tripping and slipping hazard. I don't walk out barefoot, but even in work shoes, even without spikes, they roll underfoot as bad as any cartoon banana prat fall. I can't risk breaking my bones because of a stupid tree, regardless of how "useful" it might be. Spend $600 for a harvester or spend $1000 to get rid of them , hmm, not a tough choice. it's not in a manicured grassy flat lawn like pictured in the video, mine are in a backyard with trees everywhere, falling branches and leaves, slopes and hard packed clay. There is no "easy" way to pick them up without scraping up the entire forest floor.
Even the Pine trees aren't as troublesome because when you step on a pine cone it goes CRUNCH and crumbles, not take you on a Tom and Jerry Style Scene across the entire back yard.

Nice attempt at crafting a wreath, but you have to just say that the wreath was ugly. I am not sure why someone would want the sweetgum balls for that. I toss my sweetgum balls in the trash.

Just trying to be creative, but maybe we missed the mark hahaha. We typically try use them as mulch around some blueberry bushes or sometimes burn them. But trashing them works too!
