Thanks for putting these videos together, they are wonderful. We left Canada in 2021 for the same reasons, it took a while to get over feeling sad about our country.... but we have met so many amazing people and feel the sense of connection here in Mexico. I just turned 60 and the plant I worked at closed and moved manufacturing out of Canada! Way too expensive to operate here. So I have been looking to retire elsewhere as well. I have been to Mexico 3 times, but on resorts, I'm worried about crime! I think it is very important to talk about. Also been looking at Panama and Costa Rica. Look forward to more info about leaving Canada and details about doing so.

Programmed like robots!! Luckily (careful planning) we own our home in BC free and clear, and have over 1 million in an investment portfolio, plus our home is worth $800,000, its up for sale, hoping to pull the plug this year, and put everything into our investment portfolio!! You guys are a great inspiration!!!! We do NOT plan to own a home again, maybe when we are 90 and come back to Canada, then we will buy a small condo, or we will rent!!! We can easily rent in Thailand, Mexico, Spain, Portugal and any other place, why buy? Renting you can leave anytime you want, maybe lose a damage deposit.

Don't let the negative comments from the people that are truly never happy discourage more videos. The grass can be greener, well the sand is much nicer anyways and I am proof you can live a happy and full life on less money. great video! I'd like to know more about how you travel so much and still stay so fit! you both look amazing and must work out frequently? Also, do you buy fresh food at local markets and cook at home quite a bit? It would be interesting to hear about this part of your life too. Thank you!

      Hi there,
Thanks so much for watching and for reaching out to us.
Yes - we should do something in a video to incorporate what a month or week actually looks like.
Well, fitness and eating healthy has always been part of our lifestyle, through out our lives. We eat out mostly but do cook when we can. For example - we always make our own breakfast and snacks - then eat out for dinner.
We eat lots of vegetables ,tofu, fish and chicken. I am mainly vegetarian but occasionally I have fish and chicken. I still love my pizzas though!🤣.
I think we eat a lot healthier - because food is more affordable and plentiful. .
We are both not too caught up with gyms - because as you travel, it can be difficult to establish a game routine. So pretty much anywhere we go walk and walk and walk. We also do about 15 minutes of a mix of pushups for arms and shoulders , various exercises for the core and a leg work out with various types of lunges. We both love to hike - so we hike when possible,

@@jillpemberton1434 thanks for your response Jill! that makes a lot of sense and sounds like a good way to stay fit while travelling. My husband and I are planning to move and live abroad as well so I was really curious. I know from experience staying fit and living a healthy lifestyle does not happen without a level of intention - although I am sure having such low stress plays an enormous role in how good you look and feel :) Have a fantastic day

Hi from a fellow Canadian. I am wondering if you are factoring in the government debt and taxes of the countries you are exploring. My research indicates that the European countries you are exploring have high debt to gdp ratios, some higher than Canada.

Hi, thanks for watching our video and taking the time to respond. We try to factor in as much as possible when we research new country. You were correct. The higher the debt, the more they are going to try and tax you. We will be doing a video in early July around different tax implications. We want to meet with our accountant first. The more research you do the better off you are going to be. Hope you can find time to check out our new video on taxes. And in the meantime try to check out our leaving Canada series.

Yes the pension helps. Defined benefit pension plans are going the way of the cuckoo bird. I strongly recommend contributing to your RSP‘s and TFSA when you are young. But the big problem now is it is so hard to get ahead and save due to the cost of living in Canada. We were lucky. Timing was good for us. That’s why we recommend finding a country where the timing is right for you. Thanks so much for watching our video I’m taking the time to respond.

I want to officially tell cra I'm out to not have to pay taxes in Canada anymore. But wondering if I should cash in before or after officially saying I'm a non resident.

Hey thanks so much. You know when I started, I think the first 100 subscribers - seemed the toughest. We really hustled to get the first 100. We chatted to people and then say hey - "you should subscribe". It was both embarrassing and humiliating at the same time, In other words it was a grind!
To add to the difficulties, I did not have any tech savvy on how to put a long video together, so at first I only did shorts.
Consistency - is key. Ok I'm number #76😎
      Keep up your good work!

      Hi there,
Yes we are retired. We have both worked hard all our lives. We are creating these videos to show people options.
There are so many places where you can go to reduce your cost of living, reduce taxes and receive better healthcare.
Both my sons are millennials. They share like so many young Canadians, the struggle to make ends meet. If I was young again or even in my 40s I would be spending every minute learning a new skill to work digitally. We would have met thousands of young people, who are working overseas digitally. If you work hard, you have choices.
I arrived in Vancouver 36 years ago with $500.00 in my bank account. I had no job, no friends, no family, no home, no job experience. My only experience had been milking cow, so everything I owned smelled like the cows too. Anything is possible, you just have to work for it and take a leap of faith.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Currently we are in Mexico, back to Canada for 2 weeks, UK, Spain, Italy Australia for the rest of the year. We are also looking at residency for either Spain, Portugal or Italy.
How we fund our travel and who looks after our portfolio / A complete guide to Mexican residency along with our contact in Mexico...is found in this video. Part 2
