Whoever edits the footage does an excellent job. There is a nice combination of family, work, and animal footage. I enjoy that one of you states what you are going to do, and then do it. What I enjoy the most is how you end your videos. There is no fanfare, but very comforting scenes. What a joy to watch you both and your family progressing toward your goals. 5 Stars.

You can buy cross braces that are made out of cable with a turnbuckle in the middle to tighten them up, and throughout the years of use you can keep adjusting them! Or you can do it the old-fashioned way, a loop of wire that goes diagonally to corner to corner with a stick in the middle to tighten it up with! More or less making x! Y'all stay safe my friends!

All gates should have a diagonal brace installed to prevent eventual sagging. From bottom at hinged side to top of outside corner.

With my design that works pretty good for clothesline wires to keep them tight. They make a heavy wire 4 stabilizing Corner posts and gate posts for barbed wire fence. You cut the pieces to length straighten them out and thread one end and secure the other end whichever way works best for you. At the top corner, hinge side you put a small turnbuckle. The turnbuckles usually have quite a few threads so you want to make sure you have enough thread on your wire and grease them well. When the gate starts to Sag couple cranks on the turnbuckle your Square again. Depending on the style of turnbuckle, most have eye bolts and just Loop the wire through it.

Oh my, you both looked perished to the bone. How long till you thawed out?
I hope the gates are a success you both worked so hard on them. Pity you couldn't get hold of a load of manure to put on the garden so as the frost openscthe ground the muck falls into the cracks.
Stick at it guys you're getting closer to the end goal with each passing day. 👌🧡💛💚👍

Seeing you guys working out in that very cold air brought back memories. As a young man I worked as an electrician’s helper on Cape Cod. One very cold Winter day I had to connect up the power drop to a house (yes, in those days the electrician would hook up the utility power while it was live). Still remember how my hands felt trying to make up the connections. Kept dropping things because I couldn’t feel anything. And that, my friend, is why I live in Georgia.

I see so many other people treat their, key word, their, animals like they are nothing. One man pets his cats by petting, knocking, them on the head...who does that? I can speak on "lack of motivation"! First & foremost, neither of YOU suffer from this! Quite the contrary,... you are both super-duper overachievers! I've had 6 surgeries since December 1st of 2017, and each time I was allowed to come home, I was told to "take it easy for the next 6 or more weeks!". This drove me NUTS!! (And very few people understand what it means to a normally 'super active' person, to be told to 'take it easy' for 6 or more weeks!) 👍👍
I applaud y'all's work ethic and your commitment to getting things done according to your BIG, overall timeline!

Wow I love your team work. It's ok to not want to be in the freezing cold. I get how it's hard to get back into motion after a little warm vacation 😩, but you guys pulled through it. Can't wait to see the garden 😍 ☺ 😊. Stay safe and take good care out there.

I noticed your fencing wire is not the special bear proof wire, made the same mistake when I moved here to BC, the deer weren't a problem but the bears raided the fruit trees every year until we changed to special Bear proof wire.

Perseverance is so worth it...went through this building process 40+ years ago, so rewarding over the years, enjoy the journey, these memories you’re creating will warm you, even when it’s cold outside.

Hey guys I'm jealous, I use to live in Kellogg back in 2008 they didn't have the water park back then but the fishing was outstanding, I worked for a company over in St.Maries doing DishNet work I was an installer, In the months I worked for AW Satellite, I installed 2500 installs plus repairs, my best day was 12 installs someday I was up around the Idaho Canada border, a lady was problems with a animal knocking down her dish, so I had to go all the way to her home in the forest, when I got there her and her daughter was inside pointing out the door and WOW there is the biggest Moose I have ever seen that was her problem he didn't like the Dish and kept knocking it down, So I chased him out of the area, Got down my 28 foot ladder put it next to a huge pine tree grabbed a new dish and up I went, I mounted the new dish at 25 foot of the ground, Then it happened that Moose came back and knocked my ladder off the tree, I shouted to the lady to shut your door I went down the branches about 10 foot off the ground pulled out the 44mag 310 gr jacketed hollowpoints, I shoot the Super RedHawk Stainlesssteel 7.5barrel, I said buddy I'm going to rattle your brains, I took aim at him and KABOOM he took off through the trees, I jumped down and went to the house, the lady asked did you kill that Moose, Oh no ma'am just gave him a helluva a headache plus I beat his ears are still ringing, I put a hole in his rack right next to his ear, he shouldn't be back anymore plus where I put your new Dish he or anything else will never get to it again, she paid me the bill which goes in my pocket cause it's a service call, as far as I know the Moose never came back and her Dish still works well, but I still miss that area one day I'll be back for awhile,, take care of that back look for the Copper mesh back brace they really work might find it on line on CopperFit.com but just take it easy buddy we need you well love you and your family your in my prayers GodBless

When I saw Eli kissing you all over your face, in the last video, brought an instant prickling of tears to my eyes. Thinking of when my boys (4) were young. My youngest is now 24. And then I saw him do it again in this video. 💖 Precious 💞 Thanks for sparking that memory.

Another job well done. I’ve noticed that you are very good with the outlay, and esthetics of the homestead, as you complete each phase. There are people that just slap something together and hope for the best, but you seem to have well thought out approaches to your projects, and it will pay off later on when yours is still functioning, and holding up against the elements and time. Thanks for another great video.
Again, hope you are staying warm, and well. God Bless the two of you, and your family!,

My parents built our home from a two room shack. My job when I was a two year old was to carry the coffee can full of nails and hand them to Dad as he was nailing them. I can still remember. My Dad even had me on the roof handing him the nails as he nailed plywood for the entire roof. It was a flat roof for a ranch house.

You guys are great!! I live in a woodsided home in the sticks. We’re still working on our place an you have giving us so much inspiration. Our Neighbor I use to clean for has a 4 story authentic log cabin from early 1800’s. He raised his son for 27yrs with no electricity or running water. When I cleaned for them I had to draw water from the well out back, heat it in a pot over a fire. Go inside Light the candles in the house. It was Awesome! What I thought was neat was their composting toilet. It was a bit wider an taller with a little foot stool, but it looked like a normal flusher. It was in the house like a normal one. Unbelievably The composter had No smell! After using Add Pete to it an under bottom is a drawer that you empty weekly. Within a few days it’s dirt. He kept a big area of compost outside he dumped it in a good way off from the house or water source. The owner I cleaned for sold it after losing his wife an now the new owners use it as an airb&b. We just spoke recently about me cleaning it again. If you go the off grid route of no Flusher, check out Lehman’s Non Elec Amish Store in Ohio. They have some amazing products. An Old fashion two holer is pretty nice too) “I’ll stop advertising the John 😆 wasn’t sure if you saw a message I sent before.” I keep telling my family If the Aztecs could live in a zero waste society with a qtr of million people, why can’t We try?” Our place has septic an power but I want to be off grid as soon as possible. We had a power outage last night an not having a wood stove really made a diff. We’re set up for one just need to get it in. I’d like a country hearth fireplace to cook on. Food taste so much better on an open fire.

Love your sheep. They are trained better than most dogs and they all are adorable. I grew up in northern Maine and I still can remember the freezing hands and body. I joined the Marine Corps in 1994 and have been in the south for the last almost 47 years and I still have nightmares of the frozen tundra life. LOL. Just kidding, I really miss the snow and the distinct 4 seasons. Great job and love your videos.
