I'm a truck driver and if theirs one thing that the BBC do right , is sports commentaries.
I've listened to the US Open final 10 time now and I don't get fed up listening to it.
It's fantastic what Emma has achieved in such a short time, she had everything.
Congrats to you Emma and long may you continue to reach for the top.

Unbelievable radio broadcasting. Much better than anything on TV. I was rooting for Leylah because of her great hands and the draw she got through. But Emma is super classy can do everything on the court and did not buckle or crack at all and Leylah threw everything at her including the kitchen sink!
Emma won 6 -4 6 - 3 but it took almost 2 hours! There were many tough games and Emma won most of them. Congratulations to Emma on winning the championship and making history in the process.

IMHO not enough has been made of this true story. It was surely THE tennis news story of 2021, if not THE sports story of 2021. At some point in every match she played, Emma won (at least) 4 consecutive games proving that with ability and self-belief, you could triumph over experience. Who would have thought that someone who sat their school final exams just a few months earlier, playing in their second Grand Slam competition after just a few weeks playing professional tennis at the highest level, would go from qualification to winner without dropping a set (and whilst making it look almost too easy)? Let's just hope that Emma can overcome her recent run of injuries and get back to full health soon. and show us what she is really capable of

Love Gigi’s fantastically simple but spot on winning outburst “She’s done it! She’s done it with an ace!” I can’t understand why some of the TV commentators think it’s better to use these rehearsed “clever” lines like Petchey’s “All Hail The Queen Of Queens!” on Amazon Prime. Give me the natural, joyous reaction any day. Well done Gigi.

Absolutely correct Nigel. China's not angry, they just describe her as the Chinese girl from Britain, which is not totally unjustified. But Romania could equally describe her as the Romanian girl from Britain.
Of course we here in Britain don't have to claim her. She sounds totally English, displays all the characteristics we admire, Bromley is her home,
she was educated at local state funded schools, supported and encouraged by the LTA in Britain, and crucially she self identifies as British.
That said, she's just now said on BBC TV, that the principle influences in her career were her parents. So the cultures of China and Romania deserve much credit. I just can't see why Canada should take any credit.
