I've tried a lot of them and some are better than others, but if you're out in the scrub and need a quick meal, I wouldn't turn any of them down. Thanks guys.
I thought the Beef Strog would have been waaaay better if I added more water, the recommended amount listed on the pack isn't nearly enough. My favs are the Homestyle chicken and rice, and the breakfast skillet. Fun videos guys, excited to see more like this!
I personally love the SPR, its easily split into lunch and a dinner later. Hate both berry and granola’s, the berries get mushy and I agree the texture turns me off. Breakfast skillet is the best with your favorite sauce in a tortilla wrap of your choice. Pesto needs absolutely nothing, its perfect and my #1 go to entree. Biscuits and gravy is good too, just a bit on the salty side but welcomed after a long haul. Great review.
@@GOHUNT never even heard of that one yet?? Up in Canada were sometimes late to the party. On a side note, I checked my SPR and it says only 52g of sugar. Maybe updated with less sugar now?
Can't wait to try the pesto. There are 4 grams of sugar in a sugar cube and/or a sugar packet. Imagine you are eating 30 sugar cubes in the sweet pork & rice. Holy Sh***.. Great video.
It appears you eat these types of meals a lot on your trips, I would say each of you bring your top 2 items and then battle it out. I am just researching what I want to bring on a trip next year and checking out all these videos. Thanks for the video.
Peak pesto is awesome! And they forgot to mention that it has 43 grams of protein. I put alfredo right up there. Most Mountain house are around 12 grams. Down side of Peak is cost at $13 a crack. But taste wise and nutrition wise it was worth it to me!
Havnt ate a lot of the peak refuel but I have heard guys say they do not cook as well as mountain house (just hear say) but the other thing is they do not last as long because they are dehydrated not freeze dried. I always have extra after the season because I plan to eat one everyday even on day trips just in case I do not return back to the truck or camp. It would suck to have to throw a bunch out if I never ate them.
I felt exactly the same about the Beef Stroganoff. I expect to love it based on other reviews but just found it too rich and salty to me! Although I would give it a 6. Next time I might add more water. One thing about Peak Refuel I have noticed is that a lot of their foods tastes the same. Very rich and buttery and homestyle flavor. So eating it for a week could make you jaded.
It would be interesting to see the ingredient differences between the two, personally I did not like the cheap freeze dried meals I have eaten because the ones I have had taste too chemically... but trying to save weight I find myself looking at the more expensive options wondering if they are any better.
I tried peak last year during a November hunt and I have to be honest mountain house all day for me. Especially Mac and cheese and chicken and rice and beef stroganoff
I tried the Peak for the first time the other night on the mountain. It was the first time I have ever finished an entire bag of any of the dried foods. So it was really good or I was starving!! LOL. But I did love it.
I want to know what your opinion is of Mountain House granola blueberries and milk. Because honestly that warm on a cold morning I just wish it was more serving size. Kinda tiny.
Great video thank you very much!!! Having said that for the judges when you come up on a tie and there’s no tiebreaker. You should take into account each persons, body pH level and acidity levels because you’re all going to have different taste buds. Maybe you should introduce three girls into your taste testing or at least one girl for tiebreaker. Because everybody goes to the outdoors. My wife thanks you lol 😂
Thomas, great question! The Peak Refuel meals are all fully cooked and only require adding some water (around 8-12 oz just varying by meal). The majority of meals however are going to taste a lot better when supplemented by boiling water, but they can certainly be made with room temp/cold water in a pinch. Hope this helps you out, and just reach out if you have any additional questions!
Peak has great flavors and is better on my gut than mountain house. The downside for me is the water recommendations or rehydrate process. Only a few times have I been lucky enough to have all of the meat fully rehydrate, generally its still chewy. Aside from that peak is tough to beat. Good To- Go Thai Curry is hands down the best meal out there.
Mountain House was my favorite till Peak Refuel. It is richer, it looks like real food and smells like real food. I brought it to work to test it because everything is tasteless at work. It beats hating something because dumping food attracts critters and bears. They make a berry Granola with a soy milk substitute because many people are lactose intolerant. Their food takes less water to reconstitute.
Hey guys love your channel tips etc Would like to see side by side comparison as well as show the food, dump it in a bowl or show in the bag would like to see what it is looking like Thanks again!!!!
had the sausage n biscuits this morning for breakfast cuz i was out of eggs n the usual breakfast. it wasnt as good as i was hoping honestly. i didnt finish it. wasnt horrible just wasnt DELCIOUS I WANT MORE good. on scale 1-10......id give it a 7ish. yes i broke up the biscuits.
So, it appears that the guy on the left used his spork to scratch the side of his head before they stated to eat out of the communal bags? I’m sure that improved the taste test. 👍
Is this really a cost effective way to build a 30 to 90 day food supply for a family of 5? I am going to order some, but it is really not cost effective.
These are products we sell and we want to give our honest opinion of them. We did not speak highly of every meal and in fact were very critical of some. Not sure how that translated as "Selling out"
When you do the side by side comparison for peak vs mtn. House, it should be blind taste test so there's no biases!
We like the way you think!
Yes👐👐👐

Pesto is one of our favorites too! Have you tried the Venison Casserole?

I bought that one off Amazon can't wait to try it out for the first time
Definitely going to be ordering some of these for my next hike when the weather gets better.
Back to back episode!
Great review. Only thing would have been nice is a peak in the bag before hydration and after hydration. Keep up the good videos.
Thanks for watching Nate!
I only buy the strawberry granola but for meals I will stick with mountain house price point big difference
Good tactic

You guys should try the Elk Ragu, Bison Ranch Mashers, and the venison casserole....definitely worth the effort to get it.
Super tasty!
Thanks, men. Definitely entertaining.
Glad you liked it my guy
These guys got it 100% right in this video!
They didn't do the best one! Homestyle chicken and rice all the way!

I watched the other one too and I feel like lorenzo would add hot sauce to everything.
Thanks guys! Good information.
Glad you found the video useful, let us know if you have any questions!
have your tried the meals from Stowaway Gourmet? They are fairly new, but I thought their food is really good.
We’ll look into them!
It would be interesting to see the ingredient differences between the two, personally I did not like the cheap freeze dried meals I have eaten because the ones I have had taste too chemically... but trying to save weight I find myself looking at the more expensive options wondering if they are any better.
Try the omeals brand. No need to boil water. the two i tried on the mountain was pretty good. Then do a blind taste test with all your favorites.
Good call Todd. We will give them a shot
I tried peak last year during a November hunt and I have to be honest mountain house all day for me. Especially Mac and cheese and chicken and rice and beef stroganoff
Both really tasty options!
Its worth mentioning that the sweet pork and rice has as much sugar in it as 3 cans of coke
It is a sugary one!
You guys should all bring in your not-top-selling favorites and decide who has the best favorite
Fun idea Jacob. Love it
I tried the Peak for the first time the other night on the mountain. It was the first time I have ever finished an entire bag of any of the dried foods. So it was really good or I was starving!! LOL. But I did love it.
Peak Refuel is top notch! Thanks for watching!
I want to know what your opinion is of Mountain House granola blueberries and milk. Because honestly that warm on a cold morning I just wish it was more serving size. Kinda tiny.
Im interested in their biscuits and gravy.
Its the absolute best, thanks for watching!

Very true! Thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate it.
You should do flavor to flavor challenges. Beef strog to beef strog and so forth. Or closes to. Maybe blind challenge
Great idea!
Do they have to be cooked or heated, or just rehydrated?
Thomas, great question!

Is peak better than mountain house or signature gourmet
Peak has great flavors and is better on my gut than mountain house. The downside for me is the water recommendations or rehydrate process. When is the Luis review coming for Peak ?
Luis is a busy man and unfortunately we couldn't get him in to review the Peak meals :(
Where do you guys find the meals? I have enjoyed both video's I have seen.
You can check out our gear shop for all the meals: shop.gohunt.com/collections/camping/food
Hey guys love your channel tips etc
Would like to see side by side comparison as well as show the food, dump it in a bowl or show in the bag would like to see what it is looking like
Thanks again!!!!
Great suggestion!
Real world scenario. All that sugar wont matter. Sugar, caffeine eat sleep when you can
I would eat with you guys any day.
Love those meals for backpacking in the mountains or desert! I'd highly recommend them.

Where’s the beef pasta marinara at?
Never heard of this brand. What stores carry these?
We carry a wide variety of freeze dried meals in out Gear Shop. You can check it out here: shop.gohunt.com/collections/camping/food
There's enough sodium in this stuff to melt an iceberg.
Can yall review "Happy Yak" brand
Thanks for the feedback! We will look into it
You guys should start carrying Heather’s choice
We have been looking into it. They make great products!
I'm a guy who loves some stroganoff. Gotta say, wasn't a fan of the peak refuel version. Love the chicken pesto and chili mac though.
Nice!
So, it appears that the guy on the left used his spork to scratch the side of his head before they stated to eat out of the communal bags? I’m sure that improved the taste test. 👍
😂😂
What an awful offensive name you have.
Is this really a cost effective way to build a 30 to 90 day food supply for a family of 5? I am going to order some, but it is really not cost effective.
Gotta say, had the beef stroganoff yesterday and I would rate it a 2… not good. 🤷🏻♂️
Rice milk bro😊
It bugged me that Lorenzo only had a spoonful of each 😅
😂😂
they could use half the sugar in sweet pork and rice and it would still be too much suga for me
Do you guys like to swap spit too??? hahahaha
Are you a queen? Wait...you just answered that.
haha blood brothers.
Are there any that don't have pasta? Diabetic
Yes there are some that don't include pasta. You can check out all the options we have to offer here: shop.gohunt.com/collections/camping/food
They alot more expensive in 2022
try next mile
Thanks for the suggestion!
should cover the labels, to much bias, I for one don't taste anything so its all about calories and quantity
Thus was a daft test. No use at all.
WTF? A quarter pound of sugar? If true, that's almost criminal. Damm!
Love the paid ad and the good acting "eye-roll"
Hahaha beef stroganoff is RUSSIAN!!!! Not Mexican lol
Sell out
These guys are selling a product. One would hope they sell out. Both of your comments are lame-sauce and I give them a 2 out of 10.
These are products we sell and we want to give our honest opinion of them. We did not speak highly of every meal and in fact were very critical of some. Not sure how that translated as "Selling out"
Ate Peak Refuels last fall on a ID backcountry 5 day deer hunt. They give you the smelliest farts and shit! Fowl on the exit!
Can't deny that one Nick 💩
