  • This is a review of High Country Plastics Slow Feeder Jr. Hay Saver. I have been searching for the best hay-feeding option for my horses, and I think I have found it!
This is the High Country Plastics Slow Feeder Jr. And don't let the 'jr.' fool you - this feeder is big enough for a full-size horse and will allow your horse to eat in a more natural position.
I really like the web grid because it does not cause any problems with my horses' teeth.
If you have been looking into getting a slow feeder like this, check out the video and see what you think.
I have been very happy with this feeder. It's tough, and it makes the hay last a lot longer than it would if I threw it on the ground.
There is a lot less wasted hay. So hopefully, the money I save in hay will help this feeder to pay for itself over time!
You can find these feeders at High Country Plastics directly, and sometimes they have them on Amazon too!

My Haflinger would make short work of the hay and then play with the box.

That's not a slow feeder, but is a hay feeder. Could be a slow feeder with smaller openings. You could put a slow hay bag feeder tied inside that plastic box? -- I bought a Porta-Grazer for a similar concept. Comes with various hole size to help slow down consumption if necessary.

very cool - I think I would like the black thing to be more stable and not move around and not lift when the horses eat close to it .

I have been looking for a hay feeder as well! How is it holding up? It's a great design! Both horses are soooo beautiful!

I love it! The feeder is very durable. Timon seems to make a game of moving the feeder around (or even out of) his stall! It is always upright and holds up beautifully to his antics! Thank you so much for watching!

I have the regular one (not the Jr) and it was not worth it for me. It is definitely not a slow feeder, so my horse runs out of hay within 2-3 hours. With his hay net, it lasts all day. My guy is also chunky so I didn't want to feed him more hay than what he needed when it ran out.. And when the feeder would run out of hay, he would knock it all around trying to find more hay and he actually broke it so I basically wasted $350😬 I'm so bummed because I really wanted him to be able to eat at ground level😩

These would be awesome for my piggy horses. But, since I board, the barn owner will not allow them or even if you have a hay net, she will not full it. There is so much wasted hay.
