Jean Beauvoir's bass lines for the Plasmatics were legendary. He can easily be considered the greatest punk/hardcore bass player ever. He was right about leaving the band due to the musical and image direction change. Only 4 years after the change the Plasmatics disbanded. Glad to see he went onto having a successful career in a very tough music industry and looks great for his age.

Agreed! Those Plasmatics bass lines were a little more difficult than one would expect, especially when viewed against other punk bands. Awesome underrated player. Great stuff.

"Drums Along the Mohawk" (his solo album) is a great record of the time. Not many people know it but some of those songs are still in my heavy rotation. I also love his production with The Ramones; great tracks!

Saw JB when with Plasmatics around 81-82' in Berkeley. Monster bassist, that has had a excellent career playing with many accomplished bands not to mention producing. A true monster on bass 💯✅💪✝️

Even though dude didn't become a star or anything he had a successful career as a musician. Most musicians will only dream of the kind of career this guy was lucky enough to have and he was only able to have that by 100% dedication and working his ass off. Really lucky guy. Got to experience and live in a really cool time in America when a lot of cool things were happening. I envy him.

One of my favourite bass players. Stands above many, especially for style. Agreed on his views on the (then) Heavy Metal direction.

Jean wrote all the music and lyrics for the classic Plasmatics song "Pig is a pig". He was right about the change of musical direction in the band. Metal audiences were not ready for thd Mohawks and Wendy O.

He stayed true to himself tho. Can’t be mad at that. He wasn’t feeling their music or vibe. I do think Jean hooking up with Prince would’ve been legendary for him and open new doors and opportunities for him.

I was taught growing up that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Check yourself. You wouldn't say that to his face, so why be cowardly and do it from a keyboard?

That is not how it works when you`re navigating through your own waters,...Gilligan,,,
I see it as you hardly know who he is,...he has an incredible body of work and invaluable alliances forged from the path he took, when in reality if he had done as you implied it could well have compartmentalized his potential being bound into Paisely Park (or elsewhere) with stipulations and clauses that may serve him there, but do not offer him the freeway to move where HE WANTED ,..not where others want or suggest, which is likley based on your perception of the stature any of those artists with that kind of gravitas may have had.
You should know the way it basically works is ( as a hypothetical example) Paul McCartney will not sign you to work alongside him so you can become the next Paul McCartney by fostering a path for your superiority in business, profit, talent, billing and stardom.
One needs to earn it on their own, each challenge or conquest at a time,...as long as it takes, whatever it takes.
This man is of many amazing talents,...I submit that many more in multiple aspects of this work know of him.
It would be fair to say that millions know of his work even if they do not realize it is his work....but it is his.
Internet bravado not backed up by the required works lend little credibility to say something like you did, which IMO is not so much an insult as it is ignorantly rude.
From my perspective having seen his trajectory over 40 years it is VERY IMPRESSIVE and world reknowned.
He is a down to Earth Guy too, undeserving of a jab at "ego",...
