@HotTakeHockey Winners - Boston, Chicago, Nashville. Losers - Sabres, Sabres, sabres
@@jed21 Among Canadian NHL teams I see the Oilers as winners and the Leafs more on the losers' side. The Oilers didn't get worse than they had already been, and that's saying something considering they'd gotten to within a win of their 1st post-1990s Cup. The Leafs' bottom-6 forward group remains poor quality, with their defence and goaltending having seen perhaps slight improvements. TBD will be how many games each of Tony Stolarz and Joe Woll will start. Yes the Leafs no longer have Ilya Samsonov to worry about (with the Golden Knights' having signed him to a 1-season contract) but stamina is a real concern with:
- Woll's injury stints (including a December-February one last season)
- Stolarz having started under 30 regular-season games behind a Sergei Bobrovsky who'd been quite good from then to the Cup final
- Matt Murray, who unbelievably, despite having last played a regular-season or playoff game in April 2023 due to lengthy injury stints, got to sign another contract
- among other goalies under contract to the Leafs:
-- Artur Akhytamov yet to play a regular-season or playoff game at the NHL level
-- Vyacheslav Peksa having played any regular-season or playoff game last season with the Leafs' then-ECHL affiliate, the now-defunct Newfoundland Growlers
-- Dennis Hildeby having been assigned as backup to Samsonov during parts of Woll's winter 2023-24 injury stint but never started an NHL regular-season or playoff game last season
We need to sign Taresanko to Tampa
Hoping he goes to NJ
Sabres will spend another year watching the playoffs not participating in them
For Nashville , if they can't win in the next two seasons, they will be in serious trouble because most of their stars are over 34 and have no impact prospects available to replace 😅
Sorry i had to bounce for work. It was a WILD ride tho bro
Glad someone tells the truth about the Buffalo Sabres; all that cap space and really nothing
Nashville might be the 'winner' based on big signings. We will see how this pans out in the months to come. Leaf fans can you recall Tavares signing one Canada Day a few years back? No 'I' in team and this is why Florida won the cup, and an improved Oilers team. Day 2 and afterwards might show a different picture than the one shown. Almost certain that it will.
Lost Sergachev and Stamkos for McDonough, Guentzel, and Moser. Gonna miss Stamkos but the Lightning improved as a whole. Just can’t put them in the same tier as Vegas who lost like half their good players for nothing
Think the Bruins overpaid on both those signings but I guess so did a lot of other teams today! I would’ve thought Lindholm was in around 6-6.5 per.. they still need to sign Swayman which to me should get 7 for 7 years
Zadorov is the best defenseman in the league, Boston got a smoking deal on him
@@jed21 I won’t argue he’s up there for sure but the term is a bit much.. he’ll be getting 5 million at 34/35.. I guess we’ll see how that goes
@@jed21!? He’s not even top 40😭
Canucks has a meh
Debrusk is Mikheyev 2.0
Forbort is a plug
But the additions of Sherwood, Desharnais and Hienion are great addition to the squad and adding Smith for some depth we needed a bonified scorer for Pettey not a guy lokking to make the next step tbh i see Debrusk fitting on Millers line rather than Pettey but im exited for the mext season thats for sure also our top 4 consist of
Hughes - Hronek
Soucy - Myers
Forbort - Juulson/Desharnais
Need a better top 4 guy unless Myers is stepping up
I've watched quite a few livestreams of the Kempner Canucks UA-cam man, with claims by him of Mikheyev having undoubtedly been a dud but Elias Pettersson the centre having not had a great season last season either. Whether Jake DeBrusk, whose dad Lou is a colour commentator for most Sportsnet regular-season broadcasts of Oiler games, will for the Canucks be an upgrade on Mikheyev still remains TBD. I definitely look forward to finding out whether the Kempner Canucks man gave the Canucks, for day 1 of free agency, a thumbs-up, thumbs-down or somewhere in between.
Agreed, Tampa screwed Stamkos.
I don’t see the Bruins as winners , they vastly overpaid and over termed Lindholm and Zadorav.
I totally agree with you Buffalo is a huge loser if you want a player you can always get them even if you overpay for them
Noone wants to come here even if you overpay. And that's a fact they were in on half them big name free agents they didn't want anything to do with buffalo.
How on earth are the oilers not a winner
I could only pick three as you can see in the title... I have them in the top 8... don't get upset over nothing. I also recorded this before the Skinner contract. They are winners.
@@HotTakeHockey winning the offseason isn’t all about getting the biggest names they overpayed for stamkos and skjei pretty substantially too it is about getting good players but also about good players on good contracts when you think about losers you think about overpays and to much term not getting a bad player it also needs to go the same for winners getting good term good aav and players
@@JacksonSheppard-mq9gg Okay but in no way can you consider the Oilers doing a better job than Boston Washington or Nashville which all put themselves closer to contention by a lot more than the oilers did
@@ChrisPowellsClips the oilers didn’t need to do that tho they are already a contender they did amazing for what they had and needed to do
@@JacksonSheppard-mq9gg true but look at the preds, they got Marchy and Stammer plus a solid dman(skjei was overpaid but whatever). The capitals literally changed their roster from a bunch of bums into a legit playoff contender. Its just about the most growth, Oilers did what they had to and didnt need to go over the top like the other teams, which also means the oilers didnt as much as these top 3 teams
Buffalo was biggest loser of free agency because they signed Lindy Ruff to they head coach, players not want to play under him.
Why is that is is one of the best coaches in the league. Maybe not cup wise but win wise he had a ton of winning seasons.
@@senkofam Only once in Stanley Cup finals in 23 seasons. 3 time in Playoffs in last three seasons He was great in Buffalo last time, lets hope he will be this time too, but game change and his recent records are not winning seasons anymore. In paper Buffalo have very good team. I wish Buffalo all the best!
blues huge L
Bruins winner and bolts losers is a joke lmao over spending on a lindholm bounce back and a 3rd pair D man is not winning behavior
Bruins filled their two needs. Pretty self explanatory
Leafs are losers!
