I flew from Darwin to Brisbane...to see joe Satriani on stage... meet and greet... what an experience...and again... the most talented and influencer in music... but very humble and totally genuine... Love all his music...
finally someone said his best tone was live without a net everybody recreates the brown or 90s tones , someone needs to make amps & modellor patches to nail that 86 tone , its by far the best like hysteria for def leopard was
That was a great interview! Joe taught so many unique, young players early on, and that they all hit their mark in their own individual style's, is a credit to the man, Joe Satriani. Can't wait for his output over the next year. It's a crazy working schedule he has!
I'm ready to see some of the Best of All Worlds shows. I won't be able to see them in person, but I can still watch them eventually. He's gonna do perfectly, whether Satch himself thinks so, or not. Lol.
Joe is much more than a shredder - he actually composes memorable songs and melodies and plays tasteful soulful solos, unlike the majority of shredders.
I'm ready to see some of the Best of All Worlds shows. I won't be able to see them in person, but I can still watch them eventually. He's gonna do perfectly, whether Satch himself thinks so, or not. He's a teacher with many students. He's kind of like Randy Rhoads. He taught many kids guitar before he went on tour.
Anything with satriani is gold I'm his #1 fan surfing changed my life didn't know you could compose on guitar and the songs have moved me and offered great insight
Joe is making the big money now and it’s well deserved. This whole approach was to get people into the gig, hence why Joe Sat is in the band. There are many ace guitarists who can play EVH. Drepps, PhilX, John5, Peter Thorn. Any of those would KILL the tribute, but, it’s about getting people through the door. That and Hagar is good mates with Joe. Either way, good luck to them.
I was a teenager in the 80's too . Me personally, now that I look back . I'm glad the cellphone was non-existent . Everybody was involved with living life . Today's youth is doing nothing but looking down at their cellphone .
@@bruceniblett959 it's weird and sad . I'm used to people staying away from me. They all had a reason. But the people stay away from me is because everyone is looking down at their cellphone with ear buds on . How does one make friends that way ? The youth of today is so programed rounded up and coraled .
The first time I saw joe was the surfing with an alien. It was a concert hall full of guitar players. So cool❤️ Stu’s solo was amazing..the Charlie Brown song🤘🏻
Joe is locked into the money circuit, I'm glad he is getting his due, usually it's us guitar geeks that are in the know, but he is literally the most accomplished player in my world
I had an audience with Joe last year before his gig in Hastings England I payed nearly £200 for a ticket it was the best £200 I've ever spent worth every penny the man is so humble and such a nice guy I could listen to him all day I was for a joke going to bring my signed Steve Via UV7 WH for him to sign like the old master and student type thing but I was worried it would get stolen from my car I will however be looking out for tickets for his gigs with Steve I must say it was the best gig I've ever been to
Sammy Hagar... "Hey Joe, How the Hell are Ya'!! What the Fu@K is goin down!!" That seems like an appropriate opening from Sammy...😁😁😁Love Sammy era Van Halen. Despite what others say...🖕
Understanding that shredding is more about the overall megasound, then speed or difficulty is pricless! Shoutout to Neil Young, who could shredd, with the best of them!
@@tdz69 And the same goes for Joe satriani. He did a few beautiful pieces of music, then all the rest have been technical variations of each other. same with yngwie, steve vai, and many other instrumental guitarists. Bucket head has superior technical expressive abilities on guitar though, and he was not mentioned here, and so i mentioned him.
@@tdz69 ofcourse sound, song and skillset of a particular musician? Is AN INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Joe was the best at what he did when he first appeared onto the scene. But he is not the best anymore.

The fingerprint of a player’s sounds is in the fingers. Outside of that gear a major part. I think when people say that they mean to say that a good guitarist can make even a trashy rig sound good.
@@BelfastBoxingNBlues to me, tone is mostly in the gear. If you get vai, nuno, satch, etc etc, to play the exact same, note-for-note solo, using the same technique, using the same rig, I doubt anybody could tell them apart. It's style and phrasing what would tell differentiate them, and the reason people say I tried EVH's rig and sounded like me is because they play the way they are, with their own technique and style. This would be a really interesting test somebody should make.
Thats right, Joe---ditch the pedals, get a JMP Super Lead and play like a real man. Took me years to accept what Edward told us in the GP April 1980 Cover interview....old Marshall 100 watt, non master volume cranked.
Gotta say I don't love seeing Satch in the cloning EVH position. He's painting himself into the corner, likely for the huge amounts of $$ Hagar can throw at him for it. Anyone think Nuno would put himself in that position? Or Vai? Every guitar player all had to PURPOSELY try not to sound like King EVH.
Interview ruined by that shaking camera work that went out favour over a decade ago. If you are a person with certain medical conditions like BPPV it makes it impossible to watch.
Whatever. I like Joe but this whole tribute thing has got way out of hand. No need to try and duplicate Ed that's orders from Sam thinks he's Halen. No wonder why Alex and Wolf are keeping there distance. Disgusting to me really
alex and wolf are probably “keeping their distance” because liberace roth was probably a thorn in everyones side and maybe because they arent a part of it for obvious reasons. I also wouldn’t be surprised if wolf makes an appearance at a show either and it could maybe happen. As far as “orders from sam” im sure sam knows he’s the last person to tell satriani how to do anything guitar related, i honestly think joe is trying to be respectful much like he was when he was with jagger and deep purple. If you’re disgusted by this then dont watch anything related to it, its as simple as that. Im amazed at just how many people are bothered by something that doesn’t affect them in any way shape or form
I love Satch. But he is absolutely wrong to cover Edward Van Halen. There many famous and non-famous guitarists that have Edward’s licks down to a t. John 5 and Phil X both sound as close to EVH as possible. I am NOT a Van Hagar fan aside from 3 songs. I love Edward and Alex, but Hagar is a bag of dicks.
Joe is such a nice guy. Glad he agreed to be interviewed!
When he talks about Edward is at the 25:00 mark...
Thanks!

Love his 80s and 90s music
Joe is such a badass. Surfing with the Alien in Detroit 1988 I believe was one of the best concerts I've seen. Stu Hamm on bass
