- Day one on the Taekwondo mats... Here are the three blocks you would learn! High block, Middle block, and Down/Low block. Despite the simplicity, these are effective techniques to protect yourself. Let's look at how to improve these blocks!👊
Thankyou Taekwondo Shawn, Just starting Taekwondo, Your videos help me remember and practice proper form,
I’m so glad it’s helping you!💪🏻
The motions seems to be simple, but doing this with right move, speed, power, twist and position are so difficult to accomplish!!! Will keep training hard!!! Cheers 🥋
Well said! I need to keep training hard too💪🏻
oh Master Shawn's Korean accent when he describes forms is perfect like a fluent speaker.
Wow that’s the best compliment I’ve received on my Korean pronunciation! Thank you!
@@taekwondoshawn I speak Korean fluently and your accent is natural
My pillow doesn't stand a chance now

Hi
I really like how you teach Shawn. And L❤️VE your personality too 🙌🏻 5/1/2024
But as you mentioned hip power at the end, the way i learned the blocks I learned to actually step in and pivot your ankle and knee inward, your arm lands the block the same time your foot lands. Just like in boxing when your punch in accordance with your footwork and pivot your leg as you punch to put bodyweight into it.
Yes combining that with the hip as well is good! Trying to keep the basics blocks video a little ‘basic’ haha…
Thanks for the comment!🙏🏻
Thanks to person who is really taking me as human and try to sort it down instead of just follow me
I am a white belt and in my tkd exam there is blocks punching kicks and movements . Thanks for your basic blocks 👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻

Noice power to the block
Thank you ❤ professor Taekwondo Shawn
🤓
You need to tie these various blocks in with their various optimal stances so that people can see how those stances work in conjunction with those blocks for maximum efficacy.
Sounds like a great idea! We started tying them in together at the dojang so now I’ll have to make a new video with these additions!
Thanks to all my friends, I have reached 2K subscribe with your love.🙏❤️

This also same like Karate basic too .
Is Karate same with Taekwondo?
The simple answer is Karate and Taekwondo are similar martial arts, yes!
@@tomlinggi4883 Taekwondo is its own art, but it was heavily influenced by Karate.
Thnak you
Thank you for watching!
"Sijak" - when a TKD instructor or even a referee says it, this means "begin" or "start".
Yes! 👏
Y love it
Thank you!🙏🏻
Not the TKD I teach or was taught.... SO much Not being mentioned I don't even know where to start. I just wish you guys would take the time to invest into the 15 vol set of TKD by Gen Choi, the Founder of TKD. Too much like Karate but whatever
I love Choi Hong Hi, I’m glad he created our wonderful art. 🥋
Our taekwondo dojang goes by World Taekwondo, so therefore our style is a little different. But the Taekwondo love is still the same!
Thank you for watching and commenting!🙏
Gen Choi founded TKD? I think it's fair to say he coined the term
@larry b I encourage you to make your own video explaining what he didn't cover. It's easy for you to sit behind your keyboard and berate this guy for giving a brief explanation of more than one blocking technique. I would say "with all due respect" but I find it hard to respect anyone who goes into a comments section to tell someone who had enough guts and love for his art to give a brief instructional on his hobby that he is leaving out too much.
You remind me of the old joke:
"How many black belts does it take to change a lightbulb? Answer: 100. 1 to actually change the lightbulb and 99 to gripe about how the 1 guy who actually changed the lightbulb "did it wrong" or "didn't have the right technique" or "didn't do it the way some other master does it".
@@jkdbuck7670 As I said It's NOT the TKD I was taught or teach. As far as a video.... Just stepping and punching is a VERY complex move. SO Many moving parts to do it right. Eyes, hands, feet, breath, hips, sing wave, action reaction, back before forward, knee spring action, NO TENSION until impact. ALL of that done together AND Stopping together. But I'll see what I can do
Your video saves my TKD exam thanks
This is great I wish I knew it on my first class but unfortunately I ended up with some bruises on my for arm pain on my shoulder 😢
Bruises help us learn too!💪🏻
Very true !! Merci
POV: you are watching this cause you forgot
Hello Master Shawn, I know this is an old post but I messaged you on Facebook and hoped you may respond. Understand if you do not see this lol
Thanks Ken
Bro your high block is good BUT I COULD JUST GET PUNCHED IN DA FACE AND GET A NOSE BLEED
Man, look... I like taekwondo, I am not a hater, I am a fan and admirer. But, I have to ask, why does for instance, Shotokan Karate look so much better doing basically the same movement? I think it has to do with the uniform. The GI just makes you look better doing it than the Dobok? It just does... Anyone???
I’m a big fan of the cross over uniform myself! Lucky for me it’s starting to become popular in taekwondo now as well!
Hopefully I can block my mom's slipper
The deadliest weapon!😱
Nah bro u can't stop mom's slipper rip
You look nice
Oi why is it down block it should be high
Hi sir lam shahma
Hello!🙏🏻
Why so you have your hand at your side
Starting at the hip, and pulling back to the hip while practicing allows you to generate your 100% power with no shortcuts. Pulling back to your hip allows you to put all your power into the other hand for the strike or block.
In a practical sense, you wouldn’t do this! But we practice the full technique enough so we can still generate power with a shortened version in a pinch. 😉
Useless. All I see in all competitions, including olympics, is they use their heads to block all kicks my oh my, their arms are all down, they do foot fencing 100% And those arm blocks, they're just for tuition fees.
