UPDATE: The 1100z is available again. Thank you!
After testing our current stock, we have made the .22 cal version of the 1100z unavailable for purchase for now. We observed some clipping issues on the aluminum air strippers due to bad threading. This resulted in inconsistent accuracy on a portion of the rifles. Rather than testing each air stripper we believe it will be better to replace the whole lot of them. We are having new ones machined now. After these are replaced, the .22 rifle will be made available again. The models in .177 are currently available for purchase as the accuracy was not affected by this issue. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us and we would be happy to take care of those. We will have replacement parts widely available for this gun within the next 30 days as well.
I just purchased one and my delivery date is Friday, so should I send it back?
Or is this for the suppressor only?
Hi@@leojones7266, not all of the air strippers are off so your rifle might be fine. If you are comfortable with it, you can shoot the rifle and if you are having any accuracy issues then contact our customer service team and we can get you an air stripper sent out to replace the one that you have. I'd recommend cleaning the barrel first. Of course if you'd prefer you can also return the rifle. I apologize for any hassle. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions. Thank you for your willingness to try us out!
@@barraairguns I have not received my rifle until tomorrow, my question is the barrel itself messed up or the suppressor that are fitted. I didn't order a suppressor.
@@leojones7266, the barrel is fine. There is a threaded aluminum air stripper that threads onto the end of the barrel underneath the external shroud. It is a component built into every rifle separate from if you were to attach an external suppressor. Some of these included air strippers have improper threading, leading to pellets clipping the air stripper after exiting the barrel.
This part is not defective on all rifles so the one you would be receiving tomorrow might be fine. It is an easy fix if your air stripper happened to be defective. You would just thread off the old one and we would send you a new one free of charge. Of course I understand if you don't want to have to worry about doing this. Feel free to reach out to me at jake@moab-us.com and I'd be happy to answer any additional questions that you might have.
To all the nay sayers about the barra1100z. 22 ,I have owned mine since April and I'm getting high 860-900 range with tune. I use crosman premier14.3, jsb hades 15.89,neilsen slugs .2175 (17.5)gr .7 groundhogs with crosman premier hollow points. I just chronograph the gamo redfire pellets 15.4,I'm getting low 862 fps to a high of 884.0 fps 25 -26 fpe.
I was thinking about ordering some NSA 17.5 slugs for my Barra 1100z, I've had good luck with 15.89 JSB pellets and heard someone else say 17.5 Nielsen slugs shot well in there's as well.
BARRA is beginning to make a huge name for itself in the airgun world .
When they provide great products and match it with excellent customer service it doesn't take long to be recognized 😉👍
It's funny how long it took you to go over all the features on this "budget" pcp. That's always a good sign. Thanks JC!
I try to provide all the details regardless of the price point. We have to be fair for all budgets 😉
I absolutely agree this is a great entry level pcp, specially for the price point. I have had my 1100z for about a month now, it is everything you demonstrated in your review.
I have done some of the same tests with pellets and slugs. I used both 21 gr H&N HP slugs and 23 gr HP slugs. Both slug tests I had 10 clockwise turns on the hammer. The 21 gr slugs had a high fps of 847 and a low of 761 fps. Over a 20 shot range. High fpe was 33.46 low 27.01. One anomaly, I accidentally double loaded two 21 gr slugs. The gun spit them out at 643 fps with a combined fpe of 38.57. I was impressed! Started test at 3,000 psi shot down to 1,800 psi.
The 23 gr slugs had a high of 817 fps low of 765 fps over a 15 shot spread. High fpe was 34.10 low 29.90. Started at 3,000 psi shot down to 2,000 psi.
I plan having the stock hydro dipped with a darker camo pattern when I work up the nerve to try it. Anyway great review JC, thanks!
Rick, great info! It is a fun rifle. Happy Shooting and again thank you for your comments 👍
That looks like it's a really nice rifle. I'm a 25 cal fan, I haven't decided on a .22 cal, but I think this would be it for a first one, that one looks like it shoots great, has a nice shot count, powerful, easily adjustable, and no need to buy extras just to make it work. Hopefully, it's built with seals that will last a while as well. It's hard for me to really get a good grasp of how a gun, or anything for that matter, is going to work out without some time actually using it and many tins of pellets through them. That said, it looks pretty solid outta the box, and for the price, I'm sure you could change seals and do other things to it if you wanted.
I have bought a couple Barra guns and the service is spectacular! Good, honest folks what more can we ask for!
Great review,I’m sure you gave most of us lot a reason to go grab a barra 1100z,very affordable pcp, thanks again JC
Thank you for watching and it is a great package at an affordable PCP price. Happy Shooting 👍
Since I got in to PCP's my break barrels and CO2's (except my Sig P226 and Tuned Ruger: I love both guns) are collecting dust. I gave a few to my grandson. I think he is ready for his first PCP. At this price point I can get him the rifle and the pump for Christmas. Thanks for another great review. You sold me. 🤫
Barra is coming out with the regulated version as well as selling regulators for the existing models. They have some great stuff coming out in the not so distant future. Happy Shooting!👌🏼😉
I appreciate your knowledge, you got me very excited about getting into pcp guns. I actually just got this gun today and before even shooting did your adjustments. Thing is a beast. Hitting 75 yrds dead on.
This has all the features a beeman chief 2 wishes it had
I just received my replacement Z and it’s dead on accurate Barra’s customer service is fantastic like JC’s shooting lol great review as always
Happy Shooting!
I bought one after watching this and I absolutely love it! I got it in .177 and it loves JSB Beasts 16 grain.
Happy Shooting!
I have just been able to finally shoot my gun. I have owned multiple pump, CO2, break barrel, and PCP air rifles and none of them are as quiet, powerful, and accurate as this gun.
Amazing. The Rifle has an excellent crisp cycling sound to it. My favorite thing about the rifle is the shot sound. Good review.
For this price range you are getting a lot of rifle. "Lucy" really enjoys shooting it as well. It has a smooth cycling process. I appreciate you watching and thank you for your comments 👍
I did the trigger adjustment and was easier than I thought. Ty for a great video
Tom, Happy Shooting!
Was recommended to look at this gun looks awesome glad i found this channel
I appreciate you tuning in!
Thanks JC for another great video of a really bro quality PCP rifle. Thanks for your time and effort making another great video.
Wayne, I really appreciate you watching and thank you for taking the time to leave comments 👍
awesome love to see a 17.5 and 20.2 slug out of that
The H&N Slugs do well. Another subscriber listed his results here n the comments. Check it out👍
I got it last week and didn't shoot it till today. I also got the silencer that ad suggested and works great. I had a 6x24 ao scope that I put on it. It wasn't bad pumping and had time to sight it in today. I was amazed how accurate it is. 40 yds I was getting under quarter groups with hn ftt 14.66 grain, with no flyers. I cranked it in 4 turns and works great. The action is smooth as hell and put silicone oil on it when I first got it. The mags work perfectly and did 30 shots today and still had enough fill for 1 or 2 more mags. I give this 5 out of 5 stars for all categories. This can compete with more expensive guns. Buy it, you won't be disappointed
Tom, glad you are enjoying your rifle. The 1100z is a great value and really fun to shoot👍🏻😉
I just got the 400E. What a fun gun! Barra rules the bb's.
Enjoy!!👍🏻👍🏻
Well rounded package and great accuracy, should be hand pump friendly
With that smaller tank and a 3000 psi max fill, it should be handpump friendly 👍
Hi JC, really for an entry level PCP with that level of performance I can only say that it is fantastic. I just don't like the safety lock very much. Great review J.C. Cheers
Hey Buddy, Nitro, Mika and Peanut say "Hello" I don't use the safety much as I only cock the rifle if I am going to shoot it. But Barra did a great job with that trigger. The best I have shot in that class. I hope all is well with you.👍😉
Thank you for the video. It is very informative. You seem to be a rather good shot. The rifle is a good plinker and small-game dispatcher.
Thanks for watching! It is fun too shoot👍
You have great reviews I’m a new subscribers aI have been watching review for the last three days, new to this as 69 years young and I think I will get the Barrett 1100Z thanks for all the reviews 👍
THANKS again!!! Just went for a review!! Very Nice, great presentation! Looking for next video!
I’m enjoying it! I reviewed your video today and adjusted the hammer spring for the first time (8 turns in) hoping to see the accuracy you experienced. I’ll keep you posted. Btw thanks for the great trigger info too!
Love this video JC. I ordered one today!
Enjoy!! 👌🏼😉
Another amazing review, learning something new with each video, many thanks
Great review JC!
I'm going to look at getting one later this year!
You won't be disappointed. It is a great little rifle👍
Id imagine the Beeman qb commander regulator from lane regs will fit this as it's the same gun with a different breech and stock. Great video thank you for the info and your time
I appreciate you tuning in 👍
Nice! If I decide to into pcp, this could be my jam! Thanks JC
I'll have mine this week just ordered.
Enjoy!!!
Another great air gun review! I enjoy how you present each air gun to get the best possible account of each video. I am interested in purchasing the silencer from Terry you mentioned. Please include a link to buy the silencer. Again thanks for all you do with your videos.....
Hey JC, great review and a really cool gun. I like it 👍🏻
JP..thanks for watching and taking the time to leave comments 👍
The youtubers that say at the end of their show, " I hope I earned your subscription" are a lot more likely to get it than the ones that begin with that instead of what I'm looking to watch.
JC, your gun is fairly quiet..... no boing sound I can hear but other reviews have that annoying boing sound. Did you modify your rifle . Not an smart Alec question, just curios
No, mine is 100% stock. No "ping" sound👍🏻
Yeah I noticed the rifle sounds great here but when Rick tested the .177 and .22 on Expert Airgun Reviews he's getting that hammer bounce sound. Maybe because he didn't turn the hammer spring all the way up?
No ping in my Barra either
Loved the review ! I agree Barra is a good company. My first purchase was the single shot 1800 break barrel. So the 1100z is a huge jump. But I'm excited about buying this rifle. Rich Z
You just convinced me to buy this nice PCP rifle. However, Rick tested the same rifle and there was a weird twang sound when he fired it. I have no idea what you did to your rifle to make it sound "normal" when you fired it.
Very nice I might look at getting one.
Fun rifle with the performance and price to match👍
I have never owned a PCP, I like everything about the Barra 1100z PCP Air Rifle. But it is really hard for me to have to pay more for a pump then the gun cost.
The price and all the things it has .It is a nicely made pcp, thanks for the review
Leo, thank you for watching! 👍
Same trigger as my smk ar2078 from 15 years ago.
Barra is fast becoming my favorite airgun company with all their innovative new guns coming…you should definitely check out the 1866 Lever Action! Probably my favorite gun at the moment and super stoked for the CO2 version from ShotShow.
If you could mount s scope on that lever acion, I'd have one, says the old guy unable to use iron sights anymore.
Someone add a reg and I'm in on this party! It could almost be the Gen 3 Fortitude
Thanks for your vid’s, I liked and subscribed today. I’m looking for a rifle similar to the 1100Z except in .25. Can you help me shorten my search? I’d pay more to get more, but still want “best bang for the buck”. Thanks again, and I’ll keep watching. I really liked the bullpup comparison as well.
Take a look at the JTS Airacuda. Not the Max but the regular Airacuda. I did a review on one in .25 caliber, and they are around $300👍🏻
Love the stock man
You and me both! One of the best features of the rifle👍😉
I’ve got one in my cart on Barra’s website.
What's your choice between this and the Gamo Urban? Seems like based on your comments on the Urban the Barra here is just more ready to go out of the box?
The Barra is a great entry level PCP that has a fantastic performance. At this price point you can't go wrong. Match it with a Buck-Rail buck-rail.com/?aff=3 Suppressor and you got a heck of a rifle.
Great review JC. How many shots per fill do you get? It's a really nice rifle!
I charted that out in the review. Watch the Conclusion portion again the last segment 👌🏼
Very nice . camo stock looks nice ..
Great find JC. Basically an mrod for less.
There is some pretty unique features including the stock and the trigger blade👍
Really fantastic at this price point
Nice!
It looks like it is probably made by the same Chinese OEM that makes the Beeman Commander and the new Crosman Icon. I've always wondered though about the pronounciation of the name. Is it "Bar-ah" or "Bear-ah"? I just bought one of their 1911's based on your review and it's a great pistol. Nice review J.C. thanks for sharing.
Yes...same company. They also make the Gauntlet models for Umarex. What was really impressive. In addition to the accuracy and the trigger, was the stock. Really solid! Thanks for tuning in😉
Which would you choose? The Gamo Arrow, Gamo Urban, Barra 1100z,or Beeman Commander?
Hey great vid airgun detective ...we're cani find that air rifle it's awesome 👌
Wow nice
Have you seen the umarex notos carbine and pistol? I can't decide
Yes..I hope to test one at some point. The Barra has a lot more power, so it depends what you are using it for. 😉
How many full 3000 psi charging cycles can the pcp tank (or other high-pressure exposed parts) endure before it should be inspected and/or replaced? Does it offer any improvement over competing air rifles in those numbers?
Can the pcp tank be replaced by the user or does it have to be sent in to the manufacturer?
(note: My questions are based on my assuming inspections and replacements are necessary based on such requirements for 3000 psi SCUBA tanks and other high-pressure air tank systems to reduce failure and possible injuries. I don't have experience with pellet rifle systems.)
Looks a lot like a Marauder in functions.
I agree. An mrod for less money.
Hello!
Can you please recommend a basic scope for this pellet gun ?
Thanks! Great critique! I bought one on it!
Scott
Does any one sell them in the UK?
I just ordered the 22
Happy Shooting!😉👍🏻
I didn't see the link for the silencer
@tom wilson look under the description in the video. Link for Buck-Rail
@@itsnotom buck-rail.com/?aff=3
Ty sir. I can't wait to get everything together for it. I have many barra airguns already, all pistols. And am totally impressed with the build quality and price. I have the 1911, Schofield, 2 black ops 357 and the 1911. All are great but I'm most impressed with the 1911. It's so realistic and breaks down like the real thing. And fun as hell to shoot. You should review that for your subscribers. And can put real wood 1911 grips on in, with a simple modification. It's easy
Perfect turkey gun, do they have a spiraled barrel to spin the pellet?
"Rifled" barrel. All "true pellet guns" are designed with rifled barrels.
Hey the beeman 1858 has same magazine and single shot tray
Without hunting license or club membership , .177 is the only legal option here , this is a good option . Thx.
Thank you for watching 👍
These things look badass for the price. Barra seems like a company that actually cares about quality. I hope they make a shorter version that's quieter right out of the box, I wouldn't mind a loss in fps for a carbine version for shooting squirrels in the yard offhand.
Just add a $25.00 Buck-Rail Suppressor and you are good to go!
JC what is the trigger set to out of box ? Thanks
Hi Peter, it was right around 2.5-3 lbs. It takes about 10 minutes to dial it in.
@@AirgunDetectives 2.5 lbs is fine with me .. your sure you were shooting .22 cal I only see .177 cal on their website? Sorry if I missed something in your review. Thanks
You are correct. Per Barra, the .22 caliber rifles are on backorder from the manufacturer. They are coming soon. I was definitely shooting .22 caliber.😉
@@AirgunDetectives thanks JC
JC can you post the information on the fellow in Texas that makes PCP Silencers. Thanks I couldn't get his name in the video.
Also can you help me with my origin? When i turn the hammer spring clock wise it will never stop. Im at the back of the gun looking forward like you would shot it. Any ideas
The Origin breaks that down in the manual, but it is a similar process. The farther you turn it inward the more tension you create on the spring. It doesn't take much to increase that hammer spring tension. You don't feel any resistance as you turn it so keep that in mind. It is about how many turns not the resistance.
Hi again from Costa Rica JC
I have a question please
If you had to chose between a Diana 350 or the Barra 1100 PCP , both in 22 cal
Wich one would you chose ( neutral situation)???
Have a great nicht
Is it “easier” on scopes than a springer or nitro piston air rifle? I know that springers and nitro piston air guns are harsh on scopes.
Are you sure you can screw the hammer spring screw in while under full pressure??
Absolutely 👍🏻
Taking a guess with the guns price point…it is not regulated. Reminds me a bit of the Commander or Chief. Plus that trigger if I’m correct was used on several other guns including the Gauntlet. Maybe same manufacturer. Still wondering more if regulated or non regulated? Nice looking gun regardless and shoots well.
It's a great entry level pcp. I cover the trigger assembly in-depth in the conclusion portion of the video, just in case you missed it, but you are correct, it is used on other brands. I appreciate you watching and thank you for leaving comments 👍
What is better the barra 1100z .22 or the umarex gaunlet 1 .25 for hunting and is the umarex gaunlet stock good or bad
Hi. The specs on this air gun is reminding me to the JTS Airacuda Max . Is it the same " Mother brand " ?
Where do I get the silencer? And try their 1911, Schofield and 357 guns. I have them all
What’s up with the old lady’s having drinks ????
Is this rifle regulated ,,fully regulated ,,,,,,,,
This model, no! The new version coming out, fully regulated. 👍🏻😉
Anyone tested some Crosman domed pellets with this one in .22?
If so, then how them been performimg?
Were there any issues with clipping of pellets with the suppressor on ?
Which suppressor do you have? I purchased the 400e Faux Suppressor for my 1100z, but it doesn't fit.
Go to the Buck-Rail link I posted under the description. You need the 1/2 x 20 thread and your caliber and you'll be good to go!
@@AirgunDetectives - Do you mind sending me the link to the exact product you're referring to? I want to ensure I get the correct one. My 1100Z is a 22 cal.
hey man how's it going? hey i'm getting the barra 1100z pcp air rifle and i'm wanting to buy a suppresior for it do i need to fill out any papper work for it? i live in Texas
How does this compare to Umarex Origin .22?
Pressure gages?
If you could only have one air rifle and your choices were that Barra or a Umarex origin?
I like the 3000 psi fill on the Barra 😉
@@AirgunDetectives OK your answer wouldn't change if I asked the same question on your origin video would it
@@gumbystown seriously....You can ask me on any forum. I am just a bit partial to the 3000 psi fill because I can use my tanks. Other than that the rifles have a similar performance.
@@AirgunDetectives I like 3,000 PSI fill also and I actually only feel my origin to 2500 down to 1500 but the reason I was asking what you thought was if you had to have one cuz I was thinking about ordering the Barra
The Barra is very similar in performance as the Origin. However, the camo stock on the Barra is really nice and I would pick that stock out of the two. Both the triggers are good with the Barra having the slight edge. Just like any collection, there is always room for one more airgun. Airgun collections are somewhere between a hobby and an addiction. Happy Shooting 👍
Seems like a good rifle.
The only con I could think of is that it feels like I'd seen it many times over before - but just not by Barra.. That con though is not really a con I guess - since the lines of it are still all good and way nice.. I wouldn't mind shooting one of these.. The features though: way fantastic!
You would be surprised at the overall performance, especially at this price point. They really did a great job of upgrading a trigger assembly that we have seen many times before. The rifle is a pleasure to shoot 👍
JC my wife is going to block your channel.. I have purchased Qb/Beeman 79 , Umarex Origin, and 4 buck rails moderators. I Trust your reviews and opinions. This looks like the next purchase, only thing for me I would of loved a bigger air resorvior. If you have a chance to get a hold of a Beeman Commander in .177 for a review. Would love your take on it. I know the market is moving towards .22 but I already enjoy the Origin thanks again
Hey Buddy, you need to get your wife a rifle and have her shoot some. Then in the future you can say, "Honey, I picked up another rifle for us! You'll really like this one!"😉 I lean towards .22 caliber, in that the pellets are easier to load, more FPE, and the variety and the price are equivalent to the .177. Happy Shooting 👍
Is that a metal trigger?
How does this rifle do with slugs?
Seems like every topic has so much horse shit and a person has to keep digging to find the pony. All the channels I found first- none mentioned this brand. Wow! This seems like a much better product then others at same price range and considered great entry level.
I’m an old man, still working like a dog, because I’m just not that bright and never figured out how to make my worth. Point? I don’t have any time for bullshit. Thanks!
I appreciate you tuning in. I can respect a man who doesn't "sugar coat" it. Happy Shooting 👍🏻
Which chronograph are you useing and how far from the gun thanks
Hi Donald, I use a Caldwell amzn.to/3YX1Hju and it is about 4-6' from the muzzle.
Nice review, JC. I noticed you didn't show, nor mention the rifles "fill gage!" Is it at the forarm, or closer to the breach, and easy to read?
Always a pleasure & learning experience watching your vids. Thank you.
It underneath and visible
@@leojones7266 Upon further review ... yes I saw it. Thank you.
hello Sir...is it possible to ship overseas? i live in Bali,Indonesia.
Where is the link????
Why is it Airgun Detectives? Why not Detective? Am i missing someone in your videos?
Does the shroud have baffles at the end?
No baffles...it does have an internal air-stripper and a 1/2-20 UNF thread for an aftermarket suppressor.
Looks like the Beeman magazines ?
Hi Joe, No actually these are better. You just load and rotate. The Benjamin's are a PITA. You have to rotate load a pellet, then fill the remainder in reverse order. You can't top the Benjamin's off. Happy Shooting 👍
@@AirgunDetectives I have the Beeman Underlever in 22 caliber and they just look familiar? Thanks.😀
@@joedokes8641 actually I stand corrected, I was thinking Benjamin magazine when I responded to your first message. These are similar as is the trigger with the exception of the "Trigger Blade" that is unique to the Barra. Happy Shooting 👍
