  • Here are the many questions you want to ask about WD-40.
    Why can't you use WD 40 on your engine ?
    Where to spray WD-40 on car CORRECTLY ?
    Can you use WD-40 on engine ?
    Will engine catches fire when you spray WD-40 on engine ?
    Can you use wd40 to clean engine bay?
    Is it OK to spray wd40 on a car engine?
    What can I use to clean engine bay?
    Is WD 40 safe for electrical connections?
    Here is what I used for the engine : = WD40 300554 Specialist Contact Cleaner Spray
    WD-40 Specialist Electrical Contact Cleaner Spray is ideal for removing oil, dirt, flux residue, and condensation from sensitive electrical equipment. This quick drying, residue-free formula is safe on metal and plastic
    Blast away oil, dirt, flux residue and condensation from sensitive electronics and electrical equipment with pinpoint precision. It's ideal for use on printed circuit boards, controls, switches, precision instruments and electric panels
    Directions:
    Shut off power and allow any hot surfaces to cool. Make sure all stored power is drained from the system
    SHAKE CAN WELL
    Hold can 6”-8” away from the surface and spray directly onto the electronic device or circuit board to eliminate and remove any contaminants that may cause loss of electrical contact
    Allow product to dry completely and thoroughly vent the system before restoring power

    Nice but would be a lot better if you discconect every connectors and spray it inside, then wait to dry and then connect again. Most of the automotive connectors are waterproof, so they have a rubber and the spray will not go inside.

      Surely you should clean the connectors since it is a contract cleaner and your connectors are always contaminated with.
      However I don't think it's going to help remove those white residue from Aluminium. The white residue is reaction of the Aluminium.

    Do you have experience getting swelling rubber? Some people spray contact cleaner into their car's electrical sockets and then the rubber inside the connector swells and pops out.

    • @StreetWorksProject
      @StreetWorksProject  Рік тому

      I haven't had this problem but maybe it does have some effect on drying up rubbers instead? I'm not sure though. Because they do evaporate very quickly.

    Can we use the contact cleaner for the whole engine bay? Same function like engine degreaser?

    • @StreetWorksProject
      @StreetWorksProject  4 роки тому +3

      Yes you can but there is a down side to using contact cleaners to clean the whole engine bay. You see, contact cleaners evaporates really quickly and it is probably good for electrical cleaning because it has no water content in the spray. It is also much more expensive to use as a engine degreaser. I suggest to just buy a cheap degreaser to degrease all the gunks off the engine bay. It is actually much easier too, because the degreaser allows you to take your time to wipe / hose off those dirt and grim off the surfaces. So ya, yes and no. Hope that helps, as far as what I had experience, I would share. Cheers.

    Long term this will fail. Unless dielectric grease is added to boot seals. This will dry out any rubber. This stuff is nasty for the atmosphere.

      From WD-40 website:
      WD-40® Specialist Silicone Lubricant can be used on plastic to help with restoring fading. WD-40® is actually safe to use on metal, rubber, wood and plastic. It can also be applied to some painted metal surfaces without harming the paint.
