It was one of the first mods I did to mine, very useful if I don’t run the engine for a few months.

yes agree but it would be better in brass as brass is better to mate with cast alloys

Very good information & I have just fitted the Mod to my 99 as it sumps too much after about 11 days

Hi I have recently watched two UA-cam restorer’s install the rocker shafts in the wrong orientation. Could you explain the correct orientation and the reason why. Thank you.

The flats face outward ie exhaust spindle flat faces the front well and the inlet rocker spindles face the rear wheel, it prevents a large quantity of oil being constantly fed to the cylinder head.

Hi Ashley. I am restoring an MK3. I have a mechanic restoring the engine and he has phoned me saying the camshaft sprocket is 64000 too thick. He says he can’t even get the timing cover on. Says it is a thrust fit. I was worried I ordered wrong part but was 06.1080. Is there any possibility a gear could have been made too thick. I highly doubt this as a possibility. I’m just doing some preliminary inquiry first so have a better idea when I visit him tomorrow to take pictures and notes. Thank you for any help you may provide.

Hi Stuart, we test all our parts on our genuine Nortons so we can be 99.9% certain there’s no issue with anything we send out. Did you get it from us in which you can be sure the parts fine. If it’s from another supplier they don’t have the rights to the original drawings like us so there is always a chance it could have made incorrectly.
