  • If you're thinking of buying a belt sander, watch this review of the Bosch GBS 75 AE Professional Sander by Woody from Rat and Pallet www.ratandpall...
Hi my name is Woody and run a furniture making workshop on the south coast of England. I make furniture from industrial materials, recycled materials, pallets, scaffold boards and anything I can find in a skip.
Today I’m going to be reviewing the Bosch GBS 75 AE Professional belt sander. A cup of tea; let's take a look in the box.
Okay we've got the sander itself, sanding belt, subframe dust bag parallel guide. ‘got the graphite sending plate and instruction.
This is the current one I've got the workshop. As you can see it's seen a few hours and the one thing I really like about this model in particular is this subframe which means you can secure it to the surface and you've got an absolutely stable platform.
To save yourself a fortune buying reams and reams of sanding belts get yourself one of these, which is basically a rubber block. And as the sanding belt is running you put it on the block and it will remove all of that crud.
Here we've got some pallet wood, some scaffold board, 40 grit sanding belt. It’s a beautiful day, let's take it outside and see what she can do.
    ‘just secure the clamp here.
One thing I have noticed about these in the past is dust collects in the switch, so I kind of cover it up with some gaffer tape so you can protect it.
The thing about these dust collection bags is.. they don't collect dust. It's not that they’re blocked, they just don't seem to work. So I tend to use some sort of mechanical extraction. Instead of putting it here, i tend to stick it on the back here where it collects most
    dust.
Any chance of a cup of tea?
So back in the workshop, this is the pallet wood, this is the scaffold board. And as you can see, it's done a pretty good job there. So on balanced it’s a great bit of kit. Very versatile and lots of accessories.
    Only one problem..
In the last 18 months I've gone through three of these. I've used spare parts from this to repair that the spare parts from that to repair that, so not a great bit of professional kit, more DIY. But it's the only one on the market that does the job that I need it to do.
    It’s a biscuit, not a cookie!
