Great video! One thing that could have been covered in more detail was about the grits. These tools are great to clean off old finishes (stains, varnish, paint), and for cleaning up dusty dirty rough timber, however that kind of work really clogs up the belts. ... So I find that a "scratch" pass with 80 (or even 40 on some materials) is almost always a good idea just to knock the rubbish off. Using too fine grits too early will cause a world of grief, since the belt will clog and that causes heat... and heat embeds the muck onto the belt forever! ... Paints and varnish-like finishes are the worst, and if you melt them into the belt you need a screwdriver or old chisel to get it off. You will wreck the job if you are sanding with blobs of paint stuck in the belt! So, slow belt speeds, big coarse grit size, and very light pressure at the beginning! ... I suggest to buy a wide range of grits, 80, 120, 180, 240 and always use them in order. It's so quick to change belts that it's much faster to just start at 80 for a quick cleanup, then step up to 120 then go higher and higher (one step at a time). Each belt is only on there for a few passes before changing grits, so they stay cool and wear is minimal... hence you get much better belt life.
great video , UNPLUG WHILST PUTTING BELT ON , My friend lost a finger he caught the power button and sanded his index finger down to the knuckle in seconds
Thanx for the great video.... im researching getting a belt sander... the same bosch sander you have, is at the top of my list.... how has your experience been with it? No issues encountered so far? Still enjoying it?
Thank you! I didnt get a manual to my new beltsander, so you,ve been my. Teacher. Thank again! I didnt Find a Link to that cleening thing. Do you know the name of it?
Great video. Thanks. I have same belt sander and over time it has lost some of the tension between the rollers - wondered if this was something you had come across and whether you’d been able to fix it?
No sanding paper placed with the arrows but it doesn't run smoothly it vibrates/jumps whenever hit the splice joint -i've never had belt sander so didnt expect that?
i only use mine now to take off lots of material, but its not pretty haha. i also have a little jig to mount on its side so it works a bit like a sanding disk type of thing. the dust it creates is mental tho and its so old i cant connect a vac to it as the connector is some weird polygon shape :P
You can't over emphasize the need to always keep a very strong grip on it. They're great fun to use 😛. I've always thought they would be great for racing, and somewhere on UA-cam is a video about turning one into a radio controlled car 😜👹.
Thanks, your tutorial really helped. I used my belt sander for the first time and it turned out well.
Glad that my video was some help 👍

So far not had that issue. I would imagine some bolts got loose. Worth checking out all the fittings on your sander
Vreat video !
Thank you
I've bought the same sander but mine jumps while sanding probably because of sand belt splice joint is it normal?
Shat do you mean it jumps? Sanding paper wrong way around?
No sanding paper placed with the arrows but it doesn't run smoothly it vibrates/jumps whenever hit the splice joint -i've never had belt sander so didnt expect that?
I found out today that the motor drive pulley vibrate gently dont now if thats normal or shouldn't vibrate at all??
@@Rodzina well the whole machine will work and vibrate, hard to suggest anything without seeing it really
Nice jacket
Hehe got it from Lidl 😁👍

great to see you pumping out the videos mate, i hope it takes off for you. just dont forget your roots man. :)
@@kanedNunable hehe thanks mate, I hope so to😁👍
Will never forget that mate 👍
A plastic drink bottle cut suitably will make an acceptable adapter for dust collection if you shrink it on using a hot air stripper.

Lol I'm gonna look for that video now 🤣
You need to paint that belt sander to look like a VolksWagen bus, because it looks like one. Lol
Lol
A VW bus with Ferrari wheels needs to be red 🤣
That stack of timber looks expensive 🤭
Its the lowest grade , rough sawn. So if wasn't too expensive. Need it for some raised beds in my vegetable garden
