I used PVC shower floor mat in place of the craft foam, more expensive ($6/ft), more time, and much more work. But the outcome is much more realistic to the movie. In total my costume only cost $20 more than the one in this video. But I definitely put a good 6-8 hours into it
hey I have an idea since you guys are called the costume squad, and that kinda sounds like a super hero squad name y'all should make your own super hero costumes and like have a competition or something
@@alicianew3318 I did make something like this but I did t use foam exactly. I used a yoga mat. It worked pretty good though, I would go about mine differently these days though.
@@alicianew3318 yoga mat wasn’t a bad idea, I had it and I didn’t have to piece together how she did. I would use Eva foam now because it is a lot lighter. I wasn’t familiar with Eva foam at this time. I also attracted fabric to the yoga mat but now I would paint the foam instead. In this video I did use the idea of tracing out what fit me first, which helped a lot.
@@ivrefolful I appreciate all of the advice! I'm making a plus-size version of this for my Halloween costume, and my daughter and I are going as Leeloo and stitch because I love me a play on words, and my hair is bright orange now anyway! Lol
Why not just buy a yard of orange vinyl for the suspenders. Much easier to work with, more sturdy for a day of cosplay and you can do it all in one piece with a velcro snap in the crotch.
You could get a short bright orange wig with bangs (Or cut bangs in) and use some fabric paint for the grown in roots. Then use some generic hair gel to set it in a dread-like style :)
5yrs later making this costume so my daughter and I can be Leeloo and Stitch for Halloween. 😂😂💕 I'm sure you guys won't see this after so long, but hoping if you do, you could tell me how the foam held up. I'm plus sized and worried that if I make these suspenders like this, that they'll break while I'm carrying around a 1yr old.
there was an auction in England a few years ago from a special effects house that included the actual screen used Lee Loo s suspenders along with the surviving head from the mondoshawan costume ...not sure how much they sold for but no doubt they were on the pricey side of the spectrum
I know the point is DIY and cheap but...those pants were off. Can't be that hard to find gold leggings online. Also foam for the suspenders is a cool idea and looks...okish but I saw a place where it had already broken...try walking around in a con with that...you'll be left with bits and pieces. That being said the idea of a cosplay show is cool. I'd like to see you guys attempt a Fallout cosplay...maybe from FO3 or FNV? I don't say FO4 because the vault suits changed...that's if you're doing a vault suit...but I would love to see you guys make a homemade pipboy without resorting to using 3D printers (like some cosplayers...).
how the heck do you guys not have more subscribers? you guys are freaking awesome!!!!! love your youtube show. i watch it all the time. thank you guys for all your hard work.
You should upload the suspenders pattern so we can't copy/print it, or indicate how to make it ourselves, is difficult to see how to do it just by looking to the video.
That's some epic music for tracing out patterns.
;)
This has an OG threadbanger feel to it. Great video guys.
yeah
Tbh, watched mainly to see Claire in that costume, but was just as impressed by the production.

This host is a delight. She could be doing a four hour long special on canning vegetables set to Milli Vanilli and I'd still be entertained.
6:19 I’ve been saying Fantastic a lot thanks to her!😄
Nice, misting the black car with orange paint... bonus points
XD
damn, i was thinking same thing... spray paint gets everywhere....
My exact thoughts.
It's my car so no worries.
3:17 "Don't eat pins, cat!" LOL XD

Well done!
I was expecting the other costume....
the thermal bandages? I wish. But I knew better.
I was expecting that as well, forgot that she changed
They look great! Wondering how well the foam holds up? Are you able to sit down without them coming apart?!
Did you try this? How did they work for you if you did?

Leeloo's full name is "Leeloominaï Lekatariba Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat" I guess the part when she got married was in the deleted scenes
Make Star Lord's outfit, the Flash from the CW show's suit, and/or Daredevil from the Netflix series!

It would be cool to see someone do a costume from Mad Max, especially immortan joe or Furiosa. That would be cool.
She looks like if Ramona Flowers was trying to cosplay as Leloo

what all measurements did you take to measure for the "suspenders"?
This a very interesting channel. I enjoy watching creative people. Being a writer, creativity is a fantastic by-product of imagination.
Do more of the diy squad plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz
nice
How did you end up attaching/connecting the bottom of the suspenders? Velcro?
Amelia Shister I was wondering that too... Guess we just have to figure it out ourselves...

Hi my name is Danielle. I'm starting getting into cosplay. I do like how you make your own cool costumes.
I wish that some anime cosplay tutorials for making costumes would be easy so I know what to get to make a costume.
Can we see a Bayonetta cosplay?

dustin the hot glue guy from awe me!
Hi!
Claire I love u
maybe I'm a bit of a square but if I found anyone spray painting within 30ft of my car, I'd have her pay to clay bar or repaint it.
I reacted to that as well. paint dust goes fucking everywhere!
I was thinking the same thing .... Was like watching a horror movie "Don't go in there, the owner is gong to kill you!!!!"
Noticed that too and cringed. The over spray is going to get all over the car. :(
Yep, thought the same.
it was my car, so I didn't care.
Hi 300th comment here
LEELOO DALLAS MULTIPASS!
Please make a death stroke costume!!
Please wear a respirator when spray painting. Masks aren't always useless.
Multipass!
