I’m just waking up from my nap & watching this! Definitely the divine workings of the universe at play here. Sharing your journey with us has open the doors for so many. Not only will you thrive when baby arrives, but you’ve also lead others to do the same. Thank you for your honest, down to earth, dropping of gems. Congrats!
I recently found Faire myself and joined it, but never did anything with it. I would love to see your Faire shop in this UA-cam video. I would love to see a video where you show us how you set up your Faire page as well!
Congratulations! That’s so encouraging when you get sales, especially right when jumping right back onto Faire. I have a shop on Faire, but I removed my products because my profit margins just weren’t appropriate to do wholesale (30%}. Pricing confidence has always been my issue with my business. But I’m contemplating ordering new jars for wholesale so that I can price them differently. If you do make another video talking more about Faire, would you mind talking about the ‘units per item’. That was some thing that I found confusing. At the bottom of each product you have to identify how many units of that product that somebody hast to put in their cart, how do you do that when you have so many products? Anyhow. I truly appreciate you talking about this, you’ve motivated me to reexamine my wholesale potential.
Congrats on your success with this! I would be interested in any tips you can give to get started on the the platform; from inventory to setting up a shop that will attract retailers.
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Curious to hear how you setup cases. I'm still in the setup process on Faire and decided to just make my listings a case of 1 for now.
This is a detailed video which helps a lot of seller. I’m also trying to get on my local market place and this explains well how to price your products taking everything in account. Thanks for sharing. BTW I’m also due in 2 months. Hi5 for that 🎉
Please do share the back end side of it! My partner and I are waiting to get in Faire, we haven’t heard anything yet but would love to know more so that when we do get in, we will be more prepared.
Hi Erica, this was a great topic thank you. Do you include your labor costs and overhead into your COGs? Or is it just pure material+packaging costs? Thanks!
Congratulations!! How does shipping cost work on Faire? In your video you did not mention how much it cost to ship your order. Do you include the shipping cost in the price of your product or does the customer ask for a shipping quote?
Customer always pays for shipping! And Faire actually has an insider membership where buyers get free shipping (Faire covers the shipping) it’s really cool!
Thanks for all the info! So you made 60% after wholesale pricing and Faire fees? $1311 was what you quoted? Then my question is: How many hours of work will you have to put in for that $1300?
A lot lol. It’s definitely up to each individual on if it’s worth it or not! But yes it’s a lot of work. I am just happy to get momentum going to bring more retailers coming back when there aren’t as many fees taken out from subsequent orders (15% for repeat orders vs 25% + $10 on these summer sale orders) That’s why I wanted to be honest about how much we earned because of course you have to take into account the amount of hours spent on all this! Eventually I am hoping to really expand more and bring my own retailers to faire using my direct link which will be 0% commission and obviously way more profit. Edited to add: Chris and I were just talking about this and he made a good point that the labor is definitely a little more intense for us because of our small space. We have to do things in smaller a stages instead of being able to structure it in a faster, more efficient way. One day we will have a space that will allow for the most efficient workspace 😄
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Thank you for the response! I am just getting back into working after my 17 year corporate job and a 15 year hiatus raising my kids! Now that my baby is a Senior in high school this year (unbelievable how fast it goes!). I now have some extra time but I didn't want to get back into the corporate world. I wanted to do something fun and creative and I think I have found just that! My husband has been doing pottery the last 30 years so that spurred this idea of using his smaller pots for candles! It has been extremely hard getting people to go to my Shopify site. I am thinking maybe wholesale to start getting more brand recognition! Good luck with the baby! You and Chris are in for a wild ride! So much love and so much fun!
Congratulations! Question: How many days work did it take for you to make this money? Also, if you share what the Faire application process entails that would be great. Thank you.
Thank you! And Well it took a good five days for me to create and optimize my Faire page, and then we worked on making and packing the candles this past weekend. It definitely takes a lot of work! But we also know that our small space makes it hard for us to make as many candles as we could in a shorter amount of time. And the application process is super simple, they don't need much. It's just your email, company name and website and social media I believe
I’m so happy for you! I hate to be that guy cause I’m sure this is annoying but could you share where you got our small gold tins? I’ve done so many google image searches and just cannot find them. 😢
Seems like a total ripoff to me! I would never go below wholesale! I guess if your not making any money from Etsy or festivals you sell at this would be sort of ok! Thanks for being honest about this! I was interested until I heard the outrageous fees! They’re taking way too much money!
Totally understand, It’s definitely not for everyone! I know it’s helpful to share these things so other people can make informed decisions on what’s best for their business!
Hey Erica, congratulations. Can you tell me how you do your stock? How many products do you have available before you make a sale? Do you keep like 10 or 20 available of each item? @memoryboxcandleco

Also, I don’t know if you mentioned it, but do we have to pay a fee for every product we place on Faire like we do on Etsy?
@@LisaSaliture no there’s no fee per listing or monthly fee, it’s only the commission they take when you get a sale

Hi Erica, this was a great topic thank you. Do you include your labor costs and overhead into your COGs? Or is it just pure material+packaging costs? Thanks!
I do more of a COG x 4 + 15%ish! So I add in the cog and labor costs essentially!
Overhead is just a separate write off expense for me :)
Congratulations to you both!❤
Thank you Hope! :)
When you sell with Faire do you do white labels or no labels so the customer can add their own? Thanks for the detailed video.
Hi! No we just do strictly wholesale with our own labels on Faire

Let me find the link but they are from papermart!
Is there a tat that they require ?
Tat? Or tax maybe? Lol
How did you get approved on Faire? Ive been applying for years and never get a response.
The second time took about 6-8 months! I applied using different emails 😅
So when I go on the Faire app, it doesn’t show me how to add a banner or products, so I’m a bit confused.
You can’t do it on the app, you have to do it on a computer
