+Lee The Flea I'm not surprised! He is one of the most refined acting talents this world has scene. If that was me or you we'd find it hard to contain our true emotions, but he has mastered not only the art of showing/hiding emotions but also the art of being a fantastic human being, by simply accepting the victory of another human as if it were his own! Growing up, i have seen him voice a few penguins, a bat, a Genie, a Robot, play a Professor, a Housekeeper, a petty theif, a workaholic, a man trapped in a board game, an American President, a grown up Peter Pan and last night a doctor.

tatjana1707 Your welcome silkscrim, And Tatjana, your post did the same for me. You are so right, and said it so well. When he was happy in a movie, there always seemed to be something not right, like he smiled for his audience, but it just didn't seem completely genuine, like a plastic rose in a bouquet of ones that are alive. He did it for his audience, but he couldn't completely hide the fact that it was just an act. And in movies where sadness was just supposed to be a part of the role, it went beyond acting. The horrible tragedy that I realize now hurts me so much, is that those feelings he shared were genuine, real feelings. Go through his best movies, and tenderest moments, the ones that involved moments in life that we always thought "wow this guy makes it so real, it's almost like he really feels that way, what a great actor!!" Movies like Dead Poets Society, Awakenings, Patch Adams Good Will Hunting and....Aladdin. Look back now at that movie. In the scene at the end of the movie, when the Genie had done everything he could do for Aladdin and Jasmine and so many others, Aladdin said "Genie, you are free", which now are 4 of the most bittersweet words of all time. Aladdin held him for as long as he could, never wanting to let him go. And no one wanted the Genie to go, not because of what miracles and wonders he could create on a physical level, but because the Genie, a being of pure light and gentleness and love, could make anyone he touched feel special, whether king or beggar. A gift beyond wealth, or status, or anything physical, a gift treasured by the richest, and poorest people in the kingdom. Aladdin understood the bittersweet moment it was, because he realized that as much as the Genie, a being of pure kindness, warmth and love, would forever make the land a better place, and a being that had the magical ability to make anyone smile, and feel loved....could never be truly happy and at peace here. Happiness was in another place, a realm of mystery, but a land of hope, and the possibility that this magical creation, could finally find the happiness and peace we all crave and pray for. the place he could find the true happiness that he had been denied for so long. it was a line that was so heartwarming for the audience, because the Genie finally got the peace that he had waited for his whole life, and knew he finally found that eternal happiness that he wished for. Why is the loss of Robin, a celebrity like so many others that we have lost, in one moment uniting a divided world of such much intolerance and hate? Because of his remarkable soul, who despite his own personal demons, did everything in his power to make every human beings life here better. There were no favorites, he treated a CEO of a billion dollar company the same way as someone that had nothing. He realized that the only value we have, the only thing of real value, is the value of life, and the love that we all share. And the knowledge that he could talk to a regular fan on the street and that would make that person feel so special, or do things like give $400,000 a year to make sure that a life long friend, Christopher Reeve, would never have to worry about medical expenses, or support our troops for so many years, and so many other stories coming out now, of acts of kindness, whether of incredible financial help, or just of giving his time, or just the feeling of making anyone he ever met feel special, a kind smile that was genuine, that stayed with you for life, We realize we have lost our Genie. A pure, magnificent being, that we could always count on to make things better, and feel better about ourselves, and others. He gave us so much, even while he hid the pain that only someone that has suffered from severe depression can. But realize that he now has hopefully found the peace we all crave, and the happiness that comes with that peace. Anyone saying he was selfish, stop. This was one last way, that he could bring to light, the horrible affliction of depression, something that can't be x-ray'd, or figured out through a biopsy, or urine test. There now is a light shined on something that affects anyone, rich or poor, hell on earth, inside your head. He gave, and gave , and gave. He did everything he could to make this world a funnier, happier place. He was our Genie, and like Aladdin we have to let him go, so he can find that which will let him have the peace in his soul he was missing here. And hopefully, people will remember the acts of kindness, and the hope and love he gave us, and realize that the laughter and feelings of joy and hope can be had, we just have to be willing to take the time to give it back to each other, there is a little bit of Robin/Genie in all of us. We owe it to this great man, and to ourselves. Thank you again Tatjana, your empathy and compassion for Robin in your tender and compassionate words, and willingness to share that with everyone gave me something I will always remember, a shared kindness, and I feel hopeful. And to your last sentence, I know he is now basking in a land of wondrous colors, a template that only the Lord can create, a place that rewards only his most magnificent creations, and to his grieving wife and kids, please remember, he will be there waiting for you, that's what angels do, and who knows, he might just decide to bless us all again, and come back one day to share another lifetime of laughter, What Dreams May Come :)
kelly walsh Thank you too,for all those beautiful things you said about him.I wish he could see us ( who loved him,and still love him ) now, maybe then he would realize how much he was loved... :)
The fact that Billy Crystal wanted to go hug Robin Williams before his speech just shows how awesome their friendship was! He was the host, but knew he shouldn't interfere!
They should have given him a standing ovation. Good Will Hunting was a great movie with a superb cast! R.I.P. Robin. You are missed everyday when people need a smile or just to laugh. You were truly one of a kind.
Despite that this was 26 years ago, it still makes me cry. We miss you Robin. Your goal was to make everyone on this world happy, and you accomplished that, it’s just sad that you couldn’t do it to yourself. We miss you. You were a gift to humanity. You will never be forgotten.
Yes i watched it last night, really great performance, his empathy and kindness was so easy to play because that's who he was, even when he grabbed Damon by the throat you knew he wasn't really an angry man.
Billy seemed to be holding himself back until he could hug his friend. And what a moment of purely love and joy when they hugged after his speech. Glorious. May we all know that unconditional love.
That cry of joy he lets out when Billy Crystal comes to hug him. The sheer joy of a man spotting one of his closest friends on hand at a moment of exhilaration. It sounds almost like he forgot he was there, and he was surprised and overjoyed to see him. That touches me the most in this clip. :)
Just look at his smile. Such an honest person. His humor always came from his heart, like he wasn't thinking about it, just being the funny guy he was. Thank you Robin!
The expression on Billy's face - priceless.. breathtaking, endearing.. heartbreaking! This is a true, limitless friendship! Such an inspiration!❤️ So sad they had to get separated so early.. Until they see each other again!⭐
When i saw the film "Good Will Hunting", i felt a special connection with the performance of Robin Williams and all i have to say was absolutely emotional and fantastic. For me, Anthony Hopkins was inspiring, specially when he did that long speech with no interruption in "Amistad" that left me speechless that i have no option to show my respect. For me, Hopkins could have been worthy for the oscar, but Robin Williams was trully deserving with his performance. He is still missed, but his performance is still remembered.
This is the first time that I know he won an oscar. He really deserved more. What a talented pure soul actor. He was a lost & he’ll always be missed. The happiness on Billy Crystal’s face & rushing to hug Robin shows that man really deserved on a long time ago.
Still can't believe he is gone, he was such a legend, whitty, talented, intelligent not to mention a super humble guy, kind hearted, an all around great human being, this just brings me to tears, RIP to someone truly amazing in this world who gave us nothing but laughs in his comedies, brought us to tears in his dramatic roles and just shined when he needed to, a truly brilliant actor that can never be matched.
He was one of those rare gems who made you feel as though he was your best friend, even if you never knew him. And with his death, the entire world has felt a loss that is as if we all lost our friend. There will never be anyone like Robin Williams.
I was thinking the same thing. The producers of the Emmy Awards next week have already announced that they are planning a social tribute to Robin Williams.
I met Robin once outside of The David Letterman Show. I put my hand on his shoulder. I thank God for that moment and for all the moments he gave others.
I could never cry enough tears to express my sadness at the loss of this beautiful, humble, and outrageously and courageously funny man. RIP Robin. There's room at the front. :'-(
I don't think it works like that, he had Lewy Body Dementia, its like his soul was sucked out of him, killing himself probably ended his suffering and he is at peace now.
@@potatoface1041 EXACTLY bro. Everyone in the world thinks he killed himself because he was sad. Depressed. Couldn't take it anymore! Fucking idiots. On the set of Night At The Museum, he confided in and cried to his PA because he kept forgetting his lines and had seriously troubling episodes of paranoia and delusion. That was when he realized he was totally fucked, and his doctor told him it was gonna get worse ... FAST. In other words, in just a few short months, he'd forget his own kids names and become a burden for who knows how long. He was super brave and chose to not put his family and friends through that. I mean who wants to go through that? It's terrible.
I suffer from depression. I just want to thank you Robin for being such an incredible person, you've made me laugh when I wanted to cry. I know what addiction is like, and the constant battle with depression. May you be in peace, and thank you for all you've done for everybody. Love you Robin.
I remember Robin being in my childhood like no one has ever been, whether it was jumanji or hook or any movie I didn't remember, he always put a smile on my face. He deserved this award as much as every other award he's received. Now that he's gone, children that looked up to him as an idol or even a "father" feel so empty. Just like me. I still remember my father reading on his kindle "Robin Williams died today" and my heart broke that very moment and still is to this day. Thanks Robin for being such an inspiration. Love you
Robin Williams was no ordinary celebrity... Over the years we have all been graced to see his work, we’ve cried with him and more importantly we’ve laughed with him. Robins light will forever be an eternal flame which will never go out. I’ve never met Robin Williams but on hearing about his death I was genuinely heartbroken. It felt like a family member had passed away. I think that’s Robins gift, he made you feel so happy and because of that he got our love. We love you Robin and we greatly miss you!
what a great Robin Williams moment.......for once not just doing "his act" but such a sincere expression of thanks and a rare moment of him being overwhelmed (but I loved the Groucho bit at the end lol)
I grew up watching this man. As a little kid I used to watch Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire all the time. Now, I can’t get enough of Good Will Hunting. Rest In Peace Robin. You made my childhood come to life.
Even more emotional than the award itself, was how happy everyone else was for him receiving it. A lot of people enthusiastically celebrating his triumph. He was indeed loved by many.
yes, beautiful...I just watched it because Billy Crystal is on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen....he was asked what was his favorite moment from hosting the Academy Awards 9 years in a row....he told this story and the hug...They were best friends...he got a little choked up....xoxox.
He is my favorite comedian. When I heard of his death, I was heartbroken. Another reason why I was deeply saddened was that I saw Jumanji, my favorite film with Robin in a live acting role, the day before he died. I would have loved to meet him. If he wasn't the greatest comedian, I would rank him in the top 5. God bless you Robin Williams! I will never forget your talent, your voice, or your face.
He helped Matt and Ben get their career started by signing onto this movie and he received an award for it. He was and will always be such a humble, sweet soul.
I've never seen a more literal example of somebody's dream coming true. This was so beautiful to watch. I could see the kid in him coming out who had dreamt of this moment for decades.

Movies like Dead Poets Society, Awakenings, Patch Adams Good Will Hunting and....Aladdin.
And the knowledge that he could talk to a regular fan on the street and that would make that person feel so special, or do things like give $400,000 a year to make sure that a life long friend, Christopher Reeve, would never have to worry about medical expenses, or support our troops for so many years, and so many other stories coming out now, of acts of kindness, whether of incredible financial help, or just of giving his time, or just the feeling of making anyone he ever met feel special, a kind smile that was genuine, that stayed with you for life,
We realize we have lost our Genie.
And hopefully, people will remember the acts of kindness, and the hope and love he gave us, and realize that the laughter and feelings of joy and hope can be had, we just have to be willing to
take the time to give it back to each other, there is a little bit of Robin/Genie in all of us.
Beautiful thing you wrote and true….made me cry.
I wish Robin had been that happy forever.
This makes me cry... he was so humble, so loving. It's so awful that nobody helped him with his depression.. He will always be missed.
26 years ago, actually!
Just got done watching Good Will Hunting, absolutely deserved that Oscar. RIP Robin Williams.
Yes i watched it last night, really great performance, his empathy and kindness was so easy to play because that's who he was, even when he grabbed Damon by the throat you knew he wasn't really an angry man.
I watched last night. Robin and Matt together were the one good thing about this movie. There was too much talking for me to get invested in the plot
@@manuelorozco7760 what are they gonna do? Fight
@@brown22sugar25 No
@@manuelorozco7760 I don’t know what you expect from the plot
So heartfelt! I always get choked up when he and Billy Crystal hug at the end. You can hear Robin’s joyful glee shared with his friend ❤️
Billy seemed to be holding himself back until he could hug his friend. And what a moment of purely love and joy when they hugged after his speech. Glorious. May we all know that unconditional love.
R.I.P. One of the most incredible actors/comedians. Left an indelible mark on everything he did.
Right in the feels.. :( Robin You were amazing and will never be forgotten
My favourite Oscar win, that's REAL applause for him as it should be. What a wonderful actor he was.
His joy brings tears to my eyes from the moment it's announced. So humble, so passionate, God bless his soul. Now we thank you, up there...
Well deserved. That park scene is one of the greatest scenes in the history of cinema IMO. I wish Robin was still here..
Don't we all?
Just look at his smile. Such an honest person. His humor always came from his heart, like he wasn't thinking about it, just being the funny guy he was. Thank you Robin!
The expression on Billy's face - priceless.. breathtaking, endearing.. heartbreaking! This is a true, limitless friendship! Such an inspiration!❤️
So sad they had to get separated so early..
The Hug at the end between Billy Crystal and robin Williams is killing me...
We will miss you Robin 😞
The joy seeing his pal Billy Crystal clapping and that moment when he gasps not realizing Billy came over. Beautiful
_"This might be the one time I'm speechless"_
That one made me laugh
Love how genuinely happy Billy Crystal is for him. The camaraderie is beautiful.
Next Year's "In Memoriam" is gonna be so sad. Miss you already, Robin.
I was thinking the same thing. The producers of the Emmy Awards next week have already announced that they are planning a social tribute to Robin Williams.
I met Robin once outside of The David Letterman Show. I put my hand on his shoulder. I thank God for that moment and for all the moments he gave others.
aaaand it happened.
***** And we cried :(
I could never cry enough tears to express my sadness at the loss of this beautiful, humble, and outrageously and courageously funny man. RIP Robin. There's room at the front. :'-(
Its been more than 6 years but every once in a while I go on watching about him on youtube for hours. Miss you Robin you are the best
I only watch one of his movies once in a while. Last night i saw Good Will Hunting for the first time.
RIP to a comedic force and incredible, versatile performer.
You blessed us all, Robin Williams. Your spirit will never be forgotten.
Watching Robin happy just makes you happy. So much warmth and talent. RIP Robin.
I can’t stop crying😭😭. Billy Crystal looks so happy for him.
Robin Williams is perfect, he's not just a comedian but a great versatile actor as well RIP
Look how happy he is.
That moment of pure friendship between Billy Crystal and Robin Williams
I remember watching the 2004 Oscars
The way Billy applauded is friend and the hug at the end... Perfect. Oh Captain, My Captain: you were never alone. We miss you.
The sound he made when he hugged Billy Crystal is humble, pure, and joyous. Beautiful.
Watching this crying. Just cant believe this man is gone. Wished he knew how much people loved him.
so sad he was in so much pain. if only he held on longer
@@Xphantomgamer Broken heart? Are you fucking nuts? You think he killed himself cos he was SAD? Fucking moron! ROFL!
Why, did they come up with a cure for incurable dementia a year after he died?
I think you need to do some more research
Oh Robin. We all loved you so much.....
That crowd cheer when he was announced the winner was so electric. Robin was truly beloved by everyone.
R.i.p. Spread laughter around the world like a boss! Legend
I suffer from depression. I just want to thank you Robin for being such an incredible person, you've made me laugh when I wanted to cry. I know what addiction is like, and the constant battle with depression. May you be in peace, and thank you for all you've done for everybody. Love you Robin.
RIP Robin, thank u for making my childhood
RIP good sir. We lost him 10 years ago today. Still miss him 😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
His hugs with Ben, Matt and Billy Crystal were simply heartwarming. I miss you Robin❤️
One of the most deserved Oscars ever! We love you Robin! 🙏❤️
I always cry at how happy Billy Crystal looks for him and then Robin's audible OH!! when he sees him at the end of the video!
what a great Robin Williams moment.......for once not just doing "his act" but such a sincere expression of thanks and a rare moment of him being overwhelmed (but I loved the Groucho bit at the end lol)
The world is not the same without him.
O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN!!!
O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN
Watched the movie just yesterday for first time.
O captain my captain
O Captain! My Captain!
O captain, my captain! Carpe diem
O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN
Billy Crystal could not wait to hug his friend! I loved his reaction. RIP, Robin. I miss you as much as I loved you.
The walk at the end was PRICELESS!!
"Wonderful, just have a backup profession like welding." Man, this hits me hard, so relatable and it hurts even coming from a family member.
Robins smile after he hugs Ben and Matt is so heartwarming.
I grew up watching this man. As a little kid I used to watch Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire all the time. Now, I can’t get enough of Good Will Hunting. Rest In Peace Robin. You made my childhood come to life.
Rest In Peace, Chief.
Even more emotional than the award itself, was how happy everyone else was for him receiving it. A lot of people enthusiastically celebrating his triumph. He was indeed loved by many.
This gets me EVERY TIME. Even before he passed.
He shines.
Congratulations Robin I miss you dearly.
at least now he gets to be with his dad
Does he though?
The Veneficus idk
Potter Perfect Yeah I don't know either?
Potter Perfect You can. I hope that I'll just be dead and completely unconscious. I'd hate to 'live' forever.
The Veneficus yeah...uhm...i honestly don't care
I always come back to this clip, just seeing him so hapoy on stage. I tear up every single time.
That last Groucho walk was excellent!
2023 and I'm crying. He was SO loved
This shit made me cry :/
Never realize how much you miss someone til they are gone. He's with his father now.
Bill Crystal is the host here and when Robin leaves the stage he surprises him with open arms and Robin just falls in his arms. True friendship man.
yes, beautiful...I just watched it because Billy Crystal is on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen....he was asked what was his favorite moment from hosting the Academy Awards 9 years in a row....he told this story and the hug...They were best friends...he got a little choked up....xoxox.
R.I.P Legend!. Thank you for all the great moments!
RIP sweet sweet Robin! You were loved and are loved! And yes, Good Will was a spectacular performance!!
