Everybody needs at least one Pete in rough service so they can appreciate Kenworth. Yeah, they’re more comfortable but like my mechanic said when I brought one home, “Who do you think is going to work on that?”
watched Bruce in Australia yesterday and he gave a shout out to "Jaypaydirt" for some advice you gave him on a crusty old Wabco. Thought that was pretty neat!
Hey Jeff, mate first a big shout out to you for helping a YT contributor, Bruce in AUS, I heard him give you a nice mention for some info you provided him on a dump truck shock he was repairing, amazing how word travels and just consolidates following a guy like you because you’ll help out wherever you can, no matter who. Great video Jeff, always full of great content and commentary, hope you get better soon
"Where'd that screw driver go? You have it in your hand and then it disappears." Man, that is sooo familiar. I'll place a tool down and the tool gremlins move it on me and I have no idea where it went. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.
Take ya one DayQuil Severe every 12 hours you’ll thank me later Jeff. 😎👍 Tip for the Pete clutch weld a shapped plate to the left side in order to put a newer style pedal rubber widening the pedal. 😎👍Tar or rubber cocking even Gorilla clear double sided jell tape. Are your absolute friend when reassembling the door panels.
As has often been said, "There is nothing new under the sun". That window crank operating design was a feature on Volkswagen Beetles back in the early 1970s. I don't know when/where the design originated from, but apparently it did not come from PACCAR. I had a 1973 Super Beetle and the first time I saw that mechanism on it, I was impressed too.😁
I had to take my door apart on my 90 379 pete a couple of weeks ago. I Had four stripped screws all on the bottom. Door latch broke. Peterbilt wanted over 200 dollars. While I was in there I spayed all the components. My truck came out of California so there was some salt corrosion.
Jeff, you need an 8volt DeWalt screwdriver, best 100 bucks I've ever spent for working on semi body panels and interiors. Handier that a pocket on a shirt!
Like you Jeff, I have been coughing up all manner of junk for some weeks, and I am not even in the same continent. ! Look after yourself, thanks for the video, give the corgi a hug !
Hi Jeff, I really enjoy your videos!! You mentioned a small power driver. Try one of these, you won't be sorry. I got mine from Amazon in 2015, still works great. Bosch PS21-2A 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion 2-Speed Pocket Driver Kit with 2 Batteries, Charger and Case. Currently $90
Skin-diving all those door panel screws is great fun when someone has used every different size/style available to replace the ones they let rattle loose and drift away. On the job training is how i fixed things like that. Why pay someone else to learn how ? Thanks for spending the time and effort to share it all Jeff. Best Wishes to everyone at Anderson Construction and their Friends, #PlumCrazy
Jeff, got a quick cheap fix for the stripped screw holes. Cut a 1/2 inch piece of mechanics wire and bend it into a V shape and stick it through the stripped hole then run the screw back in. The wire will hold the screw tight until you remove it again at which time the wire will usually break in two.
Should have sent a video of my brothers 379 door panel. Half the screws were missing, half of the others were stripped. 😂 Might as well send me new Kenny since you are loving the Pete’s! Lol
Yea an when y'all get done playing cowboy Pete an Indian Kenworth...ill get the trusty ol Mack.. might be old an cracked with one ol rusty stack...but the ol mack well just about get yea back .... Cause if you run into trouble..just slap the dog on the ass an yell Attack....😆😆😆👍👍
Lots of sick folk this side of the pond too. I take echinacea drops whenever something not right, 10hrs sleep, good as new again. Spring ride Pete better than air ride Kenny, who'd have thought?
The clutch pedal is my biggest gripe about driving a Peterbilt. Besides the clutch pedal taking up floor space which if you are 6’4” and have size 16 shoes is a serious concern but also the arc of the clutch pedal when depressing it bothers me poor decrepit knee. That all said I have never understood why big trucks have not come standard with power windows and locks on both doors. Years ago I had an Awefulcar Constructor with a setback front axle that had a Holmes 750 on it that I bought used and that thing rattled and leaked air everywhere. Anyway when I was painting the truck I gutted the interior and the spent a day scraping all the old hard and dried out seam sealer and applying new urethane seam sealer. I then painted the inside of the cab and after it dried I applied a sound deadening foam material and taped all the seam with foil tape. Additionally I laid down a layer rubber matting like they use on commercial passenger airplane floors as well as making neoprene rubber shifter boots that my girlfriend’s brother made a custom insulated tooled leather door panels, head liner, and interior panels along with contrasting leather seat covers. Long story short besides the interior of that Autocar looking like a million bucks it turned a very loud rattle trap to nearly as quite as my diesel suburban at the time. In case you are wondering why yes I Fabricobbled up power windows and locks as well as keyless entry system out of a Lincoln
I spent a good bit of time in the cool damp PNW.. Back in hot dry West Texas with sinus infection and going on 3 week cough! 🤧🤕😤. Shure hope we kick this crud soon!
G'day Jeff, Great vid , Watching the master at work with his tools , Hitting the glass with a hammer , using his screwdriver as sandpaper / wire brush, These skills have been acquired over many years of improvisation . I hear tell that nowadays Jeff can opperate CAT machinery via mind controll alone . Another win , You better believe it . Respect...!
Love the hat at the end! Wife has a cousin named John that drives a purple rig for Eagle there in Blackfoot, don't remember if it's a Pete or a KW. What's that song?
Clutch pedal is a little odd the way it pushes down through the floorboard on the Peter cars but them old Kenny boys the throttle pedal is a little high at idle I always end up with my left foot underneath my right heel when you rent a low speed area
I actually prefer the clutch out of the floor and the angle of the throttle pedal. compared to KW and Freightliners hanging from the dashboard but maybe it's because of my long legs.
NAC (n-acetycysteine) will clean out the mucous, it is a supplement not a drug , hospitals use it;( I take it every day in the evening.(been doing that for at least 2 months) It also helps your immune system I think.
Hey Jeff, you big stud and bad influence. I watched you change sprocket segments in some big fuzzy yellow gloves a day or so ago. You literally look like you had big bird hands. From Sesame Street. What is the address I can send you some gloves that I love🤡
Everybody needs at least one Pete in rough service so they can appreciate Kenworth.

The older ones had a chain drive window that didn't work so well when it got old
Pacar
Always putting tools down I had in my hand and then can’t find them 😂

It's cool that they used the same window cable and door latch mechanism as 1990 - early 2000's Macks

Glad your feeling better. Sound much better Too.
Peterbilt used a small chain system, before they went to cable, they do keep it simple.

"I need a small electric one" (screwdriver) - I heard Ingersoll Rand makes a awesome one! 🤣
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota. On our 3rd rain day again.

Got the standard-issue Mark one, Mod Zero window crank with reverse-rotation option. I believe that my old Fiat 124 convertibles had that option. 👍
I can see heating that clutch lever up and getting rid of some of that steepness in the clutch pedal.

Don't take more screws out than necessary, that Pete will come apart, lol

I spent a good bit of time in the cool damp PNW.. Back in hot dry West Texas with sinus infection and going on 3 week cough! 🤧🤕😤. Shure hope we kick this crud soon!

I did not like the antiquated design of the clutch pedal through the floor on the Peterbilt that I drove.Would rather have a suspended pedal.
Have you seen the 2025 CAT pick-up?
There isn’t going to be any real ones.

Hello Brian, fancy meeting You here.
Peterbuilt and kenworth are made pacore
PACCAR, yes I knew that, and GM builds Chevy and Cadillac but there's a huge difference between the two
Jeff wins 1100-1 & one tie!😂😂😂👍🏻
Hey Jeff, you big stud and bad influence. I watched you change sprocket segments in some big fuzzy yellow gloves a day or so ago. You literally look like you had big bird hands. From Sesame Street. What is the address I can send you some gloves that I love🤡
Here's a hint: use a battery operated tool to remove all those screws so we don't have to watch you screw around for 20 minutes…
