I was an OO hauling overdimensional back in the late '70s with a K100. Had a 350 Cummins (couldn't afford a truck with a Cat), and I learned to appreciate mechanics who knew what they were doing. And to be sure everything was okay had a mechanic look thru it. Took the peanut cover off for the first time ever to find everything was fine luckily and still had the factory grease behind the cover. KT you are brillant beyond your years... and self taught... simply amazing! Back in the early 80's I owned a Kenworth k100 single sleeper cabover with a 400 cat 3406 B. I logged a few hundred thousand miles and left trucking after only 3 years. I went through 2 strikes and sad enough, could see the writting on the wall, which was that the owner operator's would never unite and shut it down. The point of this ramble, is that after 42 years, I still long for the sound of that cat. As an industry outsider and a backyard inventor, I licensed 2 seperate oil filters patents to Fram, when they were owned by AlliedSignal. The oil filter products were the Fram Doubleguard & the TRT. Oh, by the way, I'm not smart enough to even carry your torque wrench. Lov your channel.

My experience was not with any particular manufacturer but that also means ive seen the best and worst from each manufacturer and overall these engines and supporting equipment are definitely on the top of the food chain. Its a shame 3 letter agencies, mainly the one starting with E has caused the USA to no longer be on top of this much needed product line.

There’s no telling how much these caterpillar engines have contributed to the improvements we enjoy in our everyday lives. Diesel engines are responsible for building the world we know today.

These engines will go down as the best ever made. Great content. Driven all kinds of rattle traps but the ones with the big yellow motor under the hood were always worth while.

Awesome. I always look for burnt 836 landfill machines. Usually I can get a cheap c18 crankshaft out of it.

Love this channel. Im too old to do this stuff anymore due to health probelms but man he sure gets my blood flowing in a good way watching him do his thing. Very satisfying watching things done right on equipment.

Also wanna say our dude here has really learned some subtle but creative tricks in filming for UA-cam. He might as well be selling these vids to CAT for educational purposes by now, although we get 'em here for free!
