Honestly, this was me, I actually had a UA-cam channel when I was 14 with my best friend at the time and we sadly got bullied for it in school so we deleted it :( anyways deep down I always knew it was something I wanted to do! I am now 21 years and I decided to bite the bullet last year when I started my UA-cam channel a year ago, it’s slowly growing and there’s times where I struggle and have doubts but I just keep going! it’s sounds silly but the thing that keeps me going is knowing that I am fulfilling my 14 year olds dream, I knew it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I struggled with confidence a lot when I was younger and I feel like since then I have grown so much. I absolutely love creating and posting content! And I feel like the more videos I post the more confident I’ve gotten. Good luck to everyone who starts UA-cam, it’s the best thing I did, don’t be embarrassed to do something you love doing❤❤❤
That’s so awful you two got bullied for it what is wrong with kids… I swear those types put people down because they don’t want you to climb higher than them. Idk when you started bc the early days of UA-cam were kinda a mess but if you kept at it there’s so many success stories from it-people making their own studios and crazy stuff you can’t get by following a traditional path. I feel like it’s extra hard as a woman too because we get scrutinized and sexualized to death… I wanna start an art channel, but hate comments or threats are unavoidable and it’s hard to cope with that long term I feel.
Yes! I Love this. I have wanted to start for years but just kept coming up with excuses. “Need to find the perfect camera” “Need to buy a MacBook so I can do the best editing” “Need to buy all these lights so I have the best lighting” eventually I was like oh Heather stop it and just start 😂 learn as you go. Don’t be a perfectionist, you will get better and more confident in front of the camera with every video you create. It is a process. Literally , just start!!

I started my channel 3 weeks ago. I am only at 60 subscribers . I was inspired by the current state of unemployment in my country South Africa. I received my degree in 2016 but have been unemployed since then. I am looking for alternative ways to create income. This video is an inspiration to push harder. Also - think it’s super important not to focus on numbers. You are so right that there is no secret or shortcut. I have seen so many great UA-camrs who didn’t get many views or subs in the first year and it takes Time
I am so happy this video popped up in my suggested vids. I’ve been away from UA-cam for a few months, had an identity crisis a year ago and since then I haven’t been consistent because I am so afraid of being called out on that I am doing something wrong or dorky or not cool. I want to be a "UA-camr" SO bad - as a young mom of a baby who's been trying for 2 years it's difficult at times - I have large times of inspiration and lots of time of feeling stunted and like my content is ALL over the place. Its hard to give lots of time to something does not bring revenue *yet*
I always post and delete videos. I've been doing that for the last 4 years smh. I am a stay at home mother of 9 kids ranging from 16 to almost 8 months old. They are all homeschooled also. Recording, editing, and posting is a lot for me. Plus I also don't want my children on my camera either so that's hard for me for sure

Unfortunately for me I am going to have to put my entire business on hold for probably a year in order to take care of two very ill family members and also go back to working in the middle of the night to accommodate that at a very physical job so while I appreciate all of your chips and will keep them in mind for another day down the road I will not be starting my UA-cam channel after all
I already have a channel but then started to fall away because I wasn't getting results like I thought, but this has really given me some inspiration to keep going. I think for myself it’s not so much about filming and putting myself out there it’s the darn technological side of it. The editing specifically. I don’t have a fancy computer and fancy editing programs. I have my iPhone and if I can’t do it on there I don’t do it. I know you can edit on iMovie but it’s not that great and of course just learning that is a process lol
This video is aligns exactly with all my thoughts and feelings. Although I am not getting the results I was hoping for, I decided to keep going and give myself time and grace. I also remind myself of the skills that I am developing and using with creating for UA-cam. That helps my anxiety a bit, but it's also important for me to remember that I have a unique experience I can share and others can learn from or relate to.
Even though I have been battling with my channel for the last 3 years, I do identify with some of the reasons and I soooooooooooo appreciate the tips. I am going to give it my best shot in 2023. Awesome video.

I have a UA-cam with about 1.5k subs and two vids with 100k. But it was all without me showing my face of me playing a video game. I’ve been growing and decided I don’t want video games anymore but to create something more meaningful rather than entertainment. There’s a handful of those channels already. I want to give value out, whether it’s helping someone to build the courage to pursue their goals they’re afraid of, or providing a different perspective that can benefit their life. Im mostly scared of showing my face bc I know I could make it successful someday and am afraid of judgement mainly from my immediate family. I know it sounds stupid but just the fact of them walking on me while making a vid, or holding a camera to my face while someone is watching me in public makes me feel like I’m getting judged. But I can’t let these feelings control me which will make me regret not taking action later in life. I have to go in… I hope someone else feels this way and know I will start a channel. If you desire to as well, please don’t let your feelings of doubt and fear control you. You got one life, please enjoy it and make the best of it!

Thank you for this video! I’ve been wanting to start an art channel for years now, and while imposter syndrome is a factor, my fear more or less is about nasty/hate comments. There are people who are just miserable and will go after anyone on here or demand they do things for them-talk different, set up different, etc. and as a woman there’s so much sexual harassment on here. How do you deal with that? I imagine it’s mentally taxing and it scares me when I’ve seen UA-camrs I follow talk about hate comments and some are so personal it’s like they want to break you and pull you away from your dreams. I’ve gotten better, but I’m a huge perfectionist and people pleaser so I probably would take negative comments to heart. Feedback is one thing, but someone coming after me for how I sound or look scares me. Also, how do you get the courage to present yourself on camera naturally? I feel like I need to always have my makeup done and stuff. I love doing my makeup, but sometimes it’s too much.
OMG I relate so much to all the excuses you told yourself not to start a YT channel, especially not having the right gear (I did not even have a computer I could edit with ). However, after starting it I regretted not starting it earlier, I think that the earlier you start the better as you gain more experience and the real problem is staying constant ...Thanks for your content it really helps us!!😚
This video is right on time, I want to restart my UA-cam channel, and I need to show myself some tough love, set deadlines, and just get started. This year, I found myself recording content and never completing the edits to publish them. So, I'm taking this as confirmation that I'm filming a vlog tomorrow, and I'm writing out the layout today!

when you have over 100 videos filmed ( and all great camera gear i invested like crazy ) but none edited because you're afraid of failing the expectations you have for yourself in editing. i try to remind myself that i was once bad at filming and editing for instagram reels, like i look back on the first 20ish+ and cringe deeply. but its because of them that i finally got a method down that i like and that responds well. it's just making a much longer video that will respond well is this looming thing. but youre right i just have to admit to myself and to others, im not great at this yet, but i want to do this, give me time i'm working on it. i may be cringe now but i'll figure it out and do better with each new time.
I have anxiety and I broke out of it by creating and helping people it works for sure I’m on my like 136 video and my audience is growing with nice people. I just have to work on my other social media platforms
I started a youtube channel as a hobby during the pandemic, but would love to continue to grow it to potentially be a good source of side income. I do it because I enjoy the content I make.
I was very scared to start my channel. I started to film videos for about 2 yeard ago, but I never uploaded a single one. But, back in October I said that I give myself this opportunity and start to properly create and upload my videos, and let's just see what I can bring out from being on UA-cam as a creator. And from that time I upload videos every week, and I already made a video about my UA-camr journey. It got views... it got likes.. and guess what? It is still very overwhelming sometimes, but it gets easier every single day. Nobody should ever be afraid, and worry about what others think. We do it for ourselves and for our growing audience! There is nothing to lose! Thank you for creating videos like this Katie, you really are a motivation and inspiration for us! 😘
The only thing that's really holding me back is my ridiculous level of self-consciousness. I cannot look at my face in videos and even photos, I don't like the way I look and hence I cannot bear to show myself to such a vast online audience. Aside from that, I have scripts, video ideas, footage, I love every aspect of creating a video from one to done, but...
Thanks for the video! I feel like my biggest struggle of doing UA-cam consistently other than being an introvert is my life is pretty boring. I've been wanting to start a vlog channel, but most of the days I'm just by myself doing my own things. What I found is a lot of of vlog channels usually they know many people and the vlogs are of people hanging out and doing things or if they vlog alone, they have an interesting life. I feel like this could be a sign to do more things in life so I have something to vlog about.
I really want to start. I have had one before in the bookish community but don't have time to read as much before. I am currently trying to grow my health and wellness personal brand but struggling so hard with what i want my first few videos to be.

I want to create a channel about something but I feel like I’m doing too much if I tackle everything I’m doing. Help me sis!!!
when you have over 100 videos filmed ( and all great camera gear i invested like crazy ) but none edited because you're afraid of failing the expectations you have for yourself in editing. i try to remind myself that i was once bad at filming and editing for instagram reels, like i look back on the first 20ish+ and cringe deeply. but its because of them that i finally got a method down that i like and that responds well. it's just making a much longer video that will respond well is this looming thing. but youre right i just have to admit to myself and to others, im not great at this yet, but i want to do this, give me time i'm working on it. i may be cringe now but i'll figure it out and do better with each new time.
I have anxiety and I broke out of it by creating and helping people it works for sure I’m on my like 136 video and my audience is growing with nice people. I just have to work on my other social media platforms

I started a youtube channel as a hobby during the pandemic, but would love to continue to grow it to potentially be a good source of side income. I do it because I enjoy the content I make.

I was very scared to start my channel. I started to film videos for about 2 yeard ago, but I never uploaded a single one. But, back in October I said that I give myself this opportunity and start to properly create and upload my videos, and let's just see what I can bring out from being on UA-cam as a creator. And from that time I upload videos every week, and I already made a video about my UA-camr journey. It got views... it got likes.. and guess what? It is still very overwhelming sometimes, but it gets easier every single day. Nobody should ever be afraid, and worry about what others think. We do it for ourselves and for our growing audience! There is nothing to lose!

Thanks for the video! I feel like my biggest struggle of doing UA-cam consistently other than being an introvert is my life is pretty boring. I've been wanting to start a vlog channel, but most of the days I'm just by myself doing my own things. What I found is a lot of of vlog channels usually they know many people and the vlogs are of people hanging out and doing things or if they vlog alone, they have an interesting life. I feel like this could be a sign to do more things in life so I have something to vlog about.
I really want to start. I have had one before in the bookish community but don't have time to read as much before. I am currently trying to grow my health and wellness personal brand but struggling so hard with what i want my first few videos to be.
