- One of the most incredible evenings I have ever had creating landscape photography in San Francisco. The fog was gorgeous and I even had the opportunity to shoot some milky way photos
Thanks to my good friend Joe Pierce for filming the Kirby cove scenes and lending me his A7R4 to film on.

This was actually filmed back in 2020 before I switched to my new Sony Cameras.

I had to chuckle at your opening comments about non-photographers perceiving us as "absolutely crazy." Several years ago, I was standing in the middle of the Anza-Borrego Desert trying to capture the Perseid meteor shower at around 1:30 a.m. A sheriff came up on my car parked on the side of the county road (S-2), stopped, and turned his searchlight on. He spotted me, my camera, and tripod and must have just shrugged his shoulders and moved on. I do appreciate the fact that he was concerned enough to stop when he saw a car by the roadside in the middle of the desert, and, no, his light didn't interrupt a shot.
Great video, as always, "Foggy Lens"!! 😄
Photographers seem crazy even to other photographers sometimes hahaha, so for sure! I never get tired of seeing this Michael. How you display the images you take, how you explain your thought process, the music that you use to compliment it all. Just incredible *Chef's kiss*
In answer to your question, I'd say the simpler view was best. In the second photo I found myself constantly looking between the bridge and the lights to left but, for some reason, not in a pleasurable way. The first image was more harmonious/relaxing for me. Love the time-lapses! I think yours are usually the best I see on here! Cheers!
Same. Simpler ftw.
Same here. I found these lights in the corner too distracting. But still wider image has cool fog waterfall 😃
Agree, I kept looking at the lights which took me away from the best part of the images.
Love the Milky Way pano, awesome work!
It's interesting to see different perspectives. I preferred the full waterfall photo, seeing the lights at the bottom as drips from the river of light above! :)
Same for me 👍 Love your images AND this video, AND your message about going with the flow and serendipity!
Be forever know as “THE FOGGY LENS” so fitting for a someone who is the master of stunning captured fog shots.
May it be lightning, rock formations etc you are the complete photographer Michael.
You are also so pleasant to listen to and I am looking forward to your next videos. If one word can describe your photography it is Gorgeous
This guy is the Bob Ross of photography....his casual speech and cadence is very comforting. The videos are very informative and have good setup and backstory...and finish with a lesson learned. Keep up the good work.
I love how he's so nonchalant about capturing the Milky Way. I would be ecstatic to even get a shot like that.
Love this VLOG, Michael! Amazing shots and timelapses. I prefer the more zoomed-in, more minimalist version of the bridge 🙂
FINALLY THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE IS GOLDEN
Less is more the last two were great but the last for me is the outright winner. The pano with the Milky way and bridge is a keeper to have two iconic images in one frame what's not to love.
I liked the photo with the lights showing on the bottom left. I totally loved this magical adventure. You are an artist, and you are right about working with what you are presented with. Thank you for this amazing view of our Earth and the Heavens.
I love the pic without the bottom lights. Watching this video was very comforting and relaxing…can’t wait for more!!!
Terrific shots as always; can never get enough of your timelapses. I hope the goons and goblins leave you alone while you're stumbling around out there in the dark. I appreciate your effort.
Nuts!! 😀 Imagine seeing the Milky way from San Francisco!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
The Milky Way shot was epic. You captured a rare moment especially with the fog, which probably helped attenuate some of the light pollution so often generated by large cities. Well done.
the second one with minimal fog visible is my favourite
I really like the second picture. Having lived a lot of my life in the Bay Area, I am entranced by the way the fog moves and boils.
I enjoy the second exposure more.
The lights below add depth, some perspective and mystery.
Great work Michael, all the best.

Haha not my most profound statment, but hopefully it helps someone with their shooting mindset.
That final closeup of the tower. That’s the one!
Just unbelieveable.... awesome pictures Michael! Keep on your great work!!! 👍👍👍
Your Milky Way photo have me excited for this year's season. I'm pumped
Outstanding Michael! Not only are your images exceptional but also your video skills and narration. 👏👍
Thanks a lot for taking us with you in these amazing adventures.
Wife Kathy liked the minimalist one, while I liked the other. Gorgeous!!
I liked the picture on the right, with the lighting on the bottom left. Added to the warm comfortable atmosphere.
Well done Michael! As a SF native I never tire of fog and GG bridge images. Loved them all!
Each one of your videos is a treat to my eyes. I always wait eagerly for your videos! Love how you explain things and show the surroundings!
Beautiful images Michael. Your calm delivery is what makes your channel to affective. We are along for your journey. Seeing all these images of the bridge from you I need to add to my must visit spots to enjoy this view for myself. I didn't realize there were so many trails with that view! Well done.
Just one word from Brazil: Obrigada! 💯💛💚
Beautiful photo's!! 😊 The first one is so peaceful and dreaming, but I like the second one too!
The one with the bottom lights I like the best, giving some context of the structure. Great video of these great photographs.
Thank you Michael, 2022 starts so well. Bravo.🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
I thought that tighter crop at 7:40 was amazing, but really like the way the fog looks like a waterfall in the wider shot at 8:10. LOVE LOVE LOVE the tight crop on the tower from the beach though-that is amazing!!!
What a beautiful set of images, absolutely phenomenal. So glad you could share them with all your followers. Your timelapses are great but I really love your still images.
Stunning! You have captured the most amazing and beautiful images. You are a true artist.
First video I ever saw. I loved it, you left me enjoying the peace of the beauty.
Simply amazing. Every photograph is amazing. However, out of the two you requested feedback on, I prefer the minimalist one.
Wow. That was amazing. Thank you!
Beautiful. I prefer the photo to the left. Love the time laps with the fog. xoxo
Outstanding!!
Michael, The longer flow image works better for for me. Thanks for the astonishing imagery , your captures are always amazing 👍
Always inspiring Michael. Your channel is the best.
So cool!
Wow Michael superb !!! have an awesome 2022
absolutely STUNNING work!!!
Stunning Images, Michael
Beautiful images. That’s it. Just beautiful images.
Incredible photos!
Wow, just wow!
I loved it all this was a great video 👌 keep up the great work🙏
Stunning shot and composition! Great tips.
As always, your photos are just beautiful.
Enjoyed that a lot Michael. Loved the simple of the two, easier on the eye. The Milky Way shot was outstanding.
Truly stunning MICHAEL!!! I prefer the simplistic shot.
Man, those are amazing shots! Great job and thanks for the goosebumps!
Amazing, so inspirational
All those images are F'n Epic sir. Beautiful. Bet you had a blast that night.
Absolutely gorgeous all of them
Simply gorgeous
Loved this video Micheal, having spent lots of time at the Marin headlands I always knew that you would be able to see the Milky Way over the city with the right conditions! So cool and thanks for sharing this!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of making an awesome photos!
Love the one on the left of the bridge. great video.
Thank you, Michael! It is nice to see you capture so many beautiful photos around the SF area. I look forward to the next video. Happy New Year.
Really inspiring stuff this Michael! Getting milky way shots above a huge city is mind blowing!
Yes Michael, landscape photographers aren't right in the head. A couple of weeks before your clip I had wriggled and climbed through a safety barrier to get a waterfall shot. I'm terrified of heights but had my tripod leg just a few centimetres from a good 40-50 metres drop. And I'm so glad I made it back intact to see your latest efforts: simply gorgeous images. Your clips are always interesting, entertaining, and instructive.
Mind blowing images man...really cool👍😎
Nice. Awesome and beautiful.
Beautiful images Michael, from a beautiful soul.
Outstanding vblog and magical images for real!
Thank you for sharing this breathtaking video, I so appreciate it! 😄
So cool!! You have such a creative eye 👍
Spectacular work, Michael and agree with your philosophy on planning shoots. 👍
Both sets are stunning! Beautiful image of the Mlkey Way!
Stunning images.
Gorgeous and magnificent, so thank you for sharing your experience.🙏🏻
What incredible images, a totally unique and mind blowing collection. Something to be very proud of. Enjoyed the video.
I'm completely in awe with your work. Thank you for sharing your view of the world with us. That pano was so insanely beautiful it made me cry a little 🥲
And, in answer to your question, I liked the second one best. But the last photo was the one that truly touched me, I even paused the video to get a better view of it. And as I did, the only word I could think of was "rare". A rare perspective, a rare photo, a rare person ✨
THANK YOU, FOGGY LENS! 🌁👓
absolutely amazing, beautiful content, it made me gasp, what a wonderful adventure!
Awesome work Michael! Love all the elements captured in the video!
Brilliant video, the minimalist shots were definitely my favourite, cool time lapse.
I never thought that the Milky Way would ever be visible near the Golden Gate Bridge but wow these photos are incredible! Great job again Michael! Keep it up as we begin a new year!
Super video clips & photos such a joy watching these! I prefer the minimalist shot of the bridge and fog 😀
beautiful work, great patience, I have alot to learn watching you. excellent.
great video, I liked the shot that included the lower light to the bottom left. Loved that MW shot with the bridge.
Captivating video, stunning images ✌
wow amazing!
a very exciting first trip in the New Year with phenomenal results ! I wish You many more promising occasions !
Your Work is SOoo Beautiful Michael Happy New Year 2022 XO Cheers
Dude, all this was absolutely stunning!!!!
Wow outstanding work
I like the image with the lights and additional fog puffs in the lower left.
Fantastic shots Michael and it was like you could feel the atmosphere with you with the foghorn going in the background. As for the two shots the minimal one is the best one for me the same as the single tower just awesome.
Great shots. Well done.
Michael that was an awesome video! I would never imagine that you could see the milky way with the lights of San Francisco on the horizon. Your 1st shot of the evening of the bridge and the car lights and the pano shot of the MW and SF bridge peaking out were breath taking really great work! I prefer the minimalist photo the best.
Brilliant! I feel the simpler view was better. The bluish shining clouds looked like noctilucent clouds. These are not common. It was great to have all the components, Milky Way, fog, bridge, clouds coming together magically all at one time. That is how great photographs are made.
Very nice! I liked the last minimalist one of the bridge the most. I think that one would look nice in black also.
Hi Michael, hope all is well with you and your family. What a great video and huge photos!! My personal favourite is the one with both the Golden Gate and the Milky way!!! But regarding your question about both fog over the bridge, my favourite of those two is most definitly the more minimalist one.
Once again all the best to you, and thank you for this great video and stunning photos. Congrats!!
I loved watching your videos in 2021 there where so many amazing ones. Have an amazing 2022 ill be here for all upcoming videos!! Thanks for inspiring!
Excellent work!
For me is the simpler photo the better one.
The milky way with the Golden Gate was incredible.
