- Starting Mar 10, Microsoft will require that all Mojang accounts be properly migrated to Microsoft accounts in order to play Minecraft on PC, for all versions of the game.
If you do not migrate by the deadline, you will not be able to play the game.

I put off migrating my account for several months until I couldn’t log into my account anymore. I guess I just didn’t think it was that big of a deal. It was an account my dad bought for me back in 2011. Luckily, I hade a spare account I made for my brother years ago that I use now and that is migrated. Frick you, Microsoft

Microsoft isn't really more secure.
It's currently July 22, 2022. I still have a Mojang account and have been playing using TLauncher to bypass the default launcher but now I can't connect to servers with a mojang account because it says I'm "not connected to my Minecraft account". Microsoft is literally 1984
I have a legacy account since 2011 I've never been able to migrate because the Hotmail I used to purchase Minecraft with got deleted in the hotmail to outlook migration and the prepaid credit card I used was from a company that no longer exists - I was a preteen at the time without a card. The payment provider from the time couldn't find record of my ownership and I lack the email, so I'm SOL for my account I've owned for 11 years.

and you know whats funny is this is morally fucked up to do long time fans of the game but since Microsoft such a big company its basically completely legal for them to this to us. F in chat for the people who have had email issues and cant migrate. Fyi the people who are having the forgotten or lost email issue like I am cant have the email changed through tech support unless you have a transaction ID from your purchase which pretty much is almost guaranteed to be lost by most long term minecraft players *especially the ones who's purchase predates Microsoft rain over minecraft* keep that one close in mind. but yea no literally being logged in to your own account is not enough proof that you own it to them. I was personally told that I would have to rebuy the game if I wanted to play after march 10th. If thats not sketchy then I don't know what is.

I'm In the same boat, I'm ready to boycott Microsoft entirely, what terrible customer service..
Good luck! If you're serious, I suggest an alternative Linux OS like Linux Mint (if you want something like Windows) or Ubuntu (a classic, well-loved distro of Linux). You can also build Minecraft yourself (BuildTools used to do this for CraftBukkit servers, but not sure if it still works; there are ways; feel free to let me know if I can provide more assistance on that).

I don't under stand what this migration means, but when I open minecraft premium launcher it says I have to migrate my account to Microsoft, if I do that will I be able to play Java edition servers like hypixel?
Yes, migrating should allow you to log in with your Microsoft account on the launcher.
I have a mojang account but I don't wan to migrate it because of the nostalgia stuff. is it going to be deleted any time in 2023 or not?
It already should be phased out, meaning it won't work for online login. You need to use a Microsoft account now.

No, your nickname should be reserved for a certain time after the migration, however I cannot guarantee this as I only heard this from a third party.

I know you aren't directly affiliated with Microsoft or Mojang, but if you know something about this I would like to know.
I heard from another channel that they were told the legacy usernames will be reserved for a certain period of time to prevent the issue that happened with Mojang migration, where people sniped legacy names.
I cannot confirm this but it seems reasonable to me.

I never migrated because it didn't work when I tried, is my account deleted? Can it be recovered still? And if I have to get a new account will my invintory be gone on my solo worlds?
Your inventory will be fine, your account is not permanently deleted, and you can talk to Mojang/Microsoft support about getting your account properly migrated. Good luck!

@@krakenmahboy update: got my account back, was able to migrate after 3 attempts, no support from the support staff as I was completely ghosted. 1/10 experience. Hope we're never forced to migrate again
