    Hey man nice vid watched it yesterday and was able to get the knee down last night took about 5 rotations but once it was down it felt more natural and was easier and easier to do it was one of my main goals before I have to put the bike away for winter lol cheers man

    I could never practice this riding over those paint lines lol ... Id be too paranoid to slip on them

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  5 місяців тому

      Our painted lines are NON slip with added grit / sand for better traction. They only act a little slippery when wet ! In the dry I've done plenty of knee dragging on top of them as well as quick stops with no loss of grip! But I get your point .... stay safe out there on 2 wheels!

    Thanks for this great video. I tried the technique but can’t drag a knee yet. I am too scared of losing grip which deters me from leaning. How can I trust the rubber?!

      Most modern sports bike tires are good for 3 to 5 years before they get hard and traction is affected negatively. Standard and cruiser bike tires are typically good for 4 to 6 years and Sports Touring tires should last you about 5 to 7 years. OR UNTIL THE TREAD WEARS OUT on any tire. Which ever comes sooner. So if your tires and tread are still good then you just need to get them hot and that will also increase traction. Also reducing your tire pressure by 5psi will also increase your traction significantly. Trusting your tires and lean angle comes with confidence in your good technique and practice. Don’t be in a rush, take your time and try to practice regularly for about 30 minutes. Consistency and persistence is key - we are motorcyclists - we don’t give up! Ride safe and come home alive. Hi! Very instructive video indeed. Weather permitting, I'm going to go give it a try this weekend. To increase the lean angle, do you reckon it's better to speed up and maintain a given circle; or better to maintain speed and make the turn more tight? Thanks, Tom

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  2 роки тому +1

      Both approaches would work - the essential thing is smooth maintenance throttle or slightly increasing throttle as you increase your lean angle and dip into the knee drag and make contact. If you slow down, roll off, clutch or brake you will go down 'Gravity' is not your friend. Stay on the power and maintain traction. Best of luck - take it slowly and don't rush the process. Thanx for watching.

    4:57 it's incredible how many riders do not get this part and their body position stays crooked on the bike.

      So much of riding a motorcycle safely is firstly practicing correct riding technique, only with that can you have total control of your bike and with that comes proper situational awareness. Thank you for watching! Keep practicing and riding safely.

    Is there a preferred or easier speed and circle size for the parking lot circles?

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  3 роки тому +1

      Not really - just ride what feels comfortable, depends on your available space. My circles in the video were about 30ft - 40ft wide approx. The wider they are the easier you'll find it. Plus as you increase the lean angle by counter steering the circles will tighten up and become smaller. Ride safely!

      @@thebritonabike Thanks. I’ve been practicing this for a while (10 minute sessions once a week/fortnight) and just can’t get the knee down before the bike starts to lose the front. 2021 MT09 on OEM S22’s. Not sure if it’s the road surface, my position or tyre pressures (stock). I’ve lost ALL of the chicken strips on the rear (from riding in an upright position, not knee down position). Just doesn’t seem to be my thing.

      @@burkeyatm try reducing your tire pressure by 5psi front and rear. This will give you extra traction. Make sure your tires are hot. Try extending your practice time to at least 30 mins. Without seeing you ride it’s impossible for me to accurately asses what you are doing wrong, and right. Maybe ask a mate to film you riding a few circles and send me the video , that way I can help you properly with specific advice. Happy to help you in any way that I can. Keep practicing and ride safely.
