That was awesome! I am working on getting my knee down as well and I am almost there. I heard you remind yourself with “body, head, bike, I have watched those videos too! You are there, I believe your form will get better naturally as you practice more. Hahaha! Thanks, man! Yeah, Greg from motojitsu was my inspiration for trying these. Sadly I haven't gotten out a ton ad of late. I sold the cbr a while back, but got some solid knee drags on my goldwing and a few other bikes. Thanks for watching! Keep me posted on how you do! Ride safe!
countersteering (push your bars away from the turn direction) will get the bike to drop down , but you still need centrifugal force to keep you from falling over. You are looking for lean ANGLE not just saying you hung off enough to touch your knee down. When you have it down, youll do elbow drags no problem.
@@TreGC69 Yes. You probably already countersteer while in a turn subconsciously, but pressing out more will cause it to really drop so be ready for it and have enough speed to do it without falling over. Id suggest run frame sliders, have full gear on and try it on a VERY large parking lot such as an empty shopping mall or an arena parking lot. You wanna be going over 30mph to have the proper centrifugal force to keep you from just falling over, doing it in a col-de-sac doesnt allow enough speed to drop down. I learned it spening a lot of time on cloverleafs later at night when nobody is going on or off the freeway
@@TreGC69 As Matt B said, you actually want to stand the bike up by pushing it away - the reason motogp riders an the like hang off is to actually keep the bike itself as upright through the corner as possible. Think of it as you are hanging off in order to hold the bike upright/centred as possible not actually lean the bike.
Glad to see you got your knee down. The more you practice, the better you will get. And the more time you have on that bike, the more comfortable you will be to practice things like counter-steering and riding positions. If you really want to get some great experience, you should do some local track days. There, you will have a lot of other people that can help you and you will also be in a much safer environment to practice. Also, the track will have big long turns so you can get your tires nice and hot, that way you won't low-side. With the big long turns, you will have plenty of time to lean the bike over further and the further over the bike is, the easier it is to drag your knee.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I'd love to hit a track day at some point. Unfortunately at the moment, I don't have a sport bike that's my daily driver. The cbr in this video was one I was flipping and it sold pretty fast (good thing I didn't lay it down. Lol). Surprisingly, the honda goldwing and harley fatbob were two of the easier bikes to knee drag on. Anyway, I definitely need to get to a track and dial in the proper technique. Noticed your toes weren't turned into the bike. With your toes turned into the bike this will give your knee a much more natural angle to hang it out at. I would also try it in 2nd gear as this will make the bike more stable when slight tweeks on the throtle are made.
I dont know if you nailed it bro, but turn your shoulders more into the direction your going, drape that outside arm over the tank, head and shoulders in the direction you're going.

Hi, I have a question how did you managed the fear of leaning more far? I worked on my body position and it seems OK, I do everything right but can't go down over a certain point. When I accelerate I just bigger circles instead of leaning more and go faster on the same line... Is that a mind problem? I just do not believe in my bike it will handle the angle. I have a sport bike (R6) with a good Pirelli Rosso II Corsa tyres so the equipment is ok. What do you suggest? Thanks for the video.
Don't try to drag knee in a circle. It's completly dumb. Hit the track on high speed and your bike will lean in automatically with the right technique. I suggest to you to watch "twist of the wrist".

Watching a lot of MotoGP those past weeks, I tried to adjust my position to match what I saw: not locked up with the knee but the part slightly before, chest resting on the tank, inside foot along the bike so it doesn't drag. It feels so much more stable, and also impressive as your head gets closer to the ground. Posing the video at 2:37, I find that your position looks correct (though I'm no expert myself). I think you just need to drop your shoulder and elbow a tad lower (head closer to the inside hand, elbow closer to the knee). You might need a bigger area to practice, like an empty car park, and trust in your tyres and lean that bike! ;)

Genuine question: What is it that is stopping the bike from tipping over when our body weight plus the bike itself is already lopsided but it won't drop during the knee down?
Looking good bro. I am trying to get my first knee down, or I should say the right body position for the knee down but I am afraid my bike will slide lol so strange.

Also, if you haven't already, check out motojitsu (UA-cam channel). That was my inspiration and he teaches/demonstrates how to do it safely. What bike are you riding?
I'm not an expert bike rider due to my countries roads but the only reason I see you aren't getting your knee down easier is because you aren't letting it happen naturally, your too conscious about this goal and you are forgetting counter steering, if you counter steer enough and just let your knee be in a triangle your body will start learning to use your knee as an instinctive precaution to not crash. All the best 👍
Thanks, brotha! I picked up cheap knee pads from walmart. Lol. I do not recommend it - they're not built for this. I'm sure you can get some solid sliders online.

Your form and technique look good up until you drag and it seems you’re to far off the bike. It’s because your speed is so low tho. But the last few looked better. I don’t know for sure tho I’m new rider so I can’t tell you the right way. But you’re doing good. Better than me
All the comments saying “lean the bike over more” just keep in mind when doing this that the bike has less traction when leaned over that far and it doesn’t take much to low side. My brother just totaled his fz09 because he leaned to hard and didn’t hang off enough. Hit a tiny little dip in the road and lost traction. That was all it took.
I don't get why people want to "get their knee down". It doesn't make you go faster. What makes you go faster is going faster, to the point where putting your knee down becomes a necessity.

how tall are you?
the sliders are not supossed to be located in ur knee, they have to be under in the external part of the knee, 1:07 these are not sliders
Do you counter steer while you were doing the cirlces?
Your form and technique look good up until you drag and it seems you’re to far off the bike. It’s because your speed is so low tho. But the last few looked better. I don’t know for sure tho I’m new rider so I can’t tell you the right way. But you’re doing good. Better than me
All the comments saying “lean the bike over more” just keep in mind when doing this that the bike has less traction when leaned over that far and it doesn’t take much to low side. My brother just totaled his fz09 because he leaned to hard and didn’t hang off enough. Hit a tiny little dip in the road and lost traction. That was all it took.
Your neighbors must love you. lol. sorry.
Maybe you could try to turn your shoulders a bit so you close the circle a bit
practice more on goig fast and leaning more.. eventualy ur knee will get down by not stressing it. or obviously try to get ur kneedown
Right on! I don't get out often to practice, but will keep at it as time permits. Thanks for the tips/motivation!
I don't get why people want to "get their knee down". It doesn't make you go faster. What makes you go faster is going faster, to the point where putting your knee down becomes a necessity.
Grove Street, home...
wish my cul-de-sac was that clean
Get your head a bit more down, elbow as close as you can to your knee and you don't need to go faster it's all in body position.
