07 Wrangler How To Remove Timing Cover And Oil Pan

I'm going to do this on my nieces wrangler. AF is leaking, but the oil pan is too, so i'll pull it first anyway. Going to do it right in the jeep, but I have a lift, and the pan looks real easy to get off. I've used hundreds of paper timing cover gaskets on everything from the early 50's flathead fords up to this one, and have never had a problem. Don't use really cheap gaskets, best to use Fel Pro. I do feel there is too much expansion movement between Al and Fe parts as well as the corrosion these two metals make. Thanks for the video.

Have you replaced it yet? I need to do the same but look like a real effort. I’ve replaced the oil pan gasket from underneath so not too worried about that. I’m doing this with the engine in and no lift. Wondering what I’m signing up for but taking it to a shop will run way too high.

@@rickmcadams1845 yes I replaced it. It should be in my other videos. I think in the jeep would be possible if the radiator is removed. And if the grill and condenser is gone you would have all kinds of room. It does take some time but its not terrible to do. Good luck with it.

This process is in my near future. The threaded female end for the oil pressure sensor sheared off as I was replacing it and now I have to replace my entire timing cover. In your opinion, do you think you could have removed the timing cover with the engine mounted in the jeep?

I think it could be done but will be very difficult because of the oil pan having to be unbolted from the engine cover. Also the oil pick up tube is bolted to the front cover. If you try doing it in the jeep I would just prepare your self to pull the engine just in case. Good luck with it.

I was doing a simple water pump replacement but one of the bolts sheared off and we cant get it out ... im afraid i have to do all of this just to get to that bolt

I don't have an easier way to remove the bolt, not saying there isn't an easier way, but if there is, I'm not sure what it is. If you do have to check out my other videos. Hopefully, they help.
