Rough time-telling is popular in the UK 2.26 pm - Nearly half two in the afternoon. 3.06 pm - Just after three o'clock or just the back of three in the pm. 9.45 am - It's a quarter to ten. 10.09 pm - It's about ten past ten at night. 3.51 am - It's nearly four in the morning. In the main people know whether it's daytime or nighttime, so we don't really have to state whether it's am or pm in speech. 6.30 pm - it's half past six. (We can omit the word 'past' and say that it's half six). 2.54 pm - It's getting close to three o'clock now. 4,02 am - Just gone four 11.54 am - Approaching midday. 11.54 pm - Approaching midnight 12.14 am - Quarter past the witching hour.

When you booked your restaurant you forgot your name, Miss English, and a contact phone number. But don't worry as a frequent diner at that establishment they knew who you by voice alone.

Interesting growing up never heard times describes like that. It was common to hear quarter to, and quater after. The other sayings beyond that is rare here atleast where in from. How we say the times like that almost reminds me of time on how French speakers say their time.
It's funny I'm seeing this video today because yesterday, I asked this young Bulgarian woman what time the bus was and she said to me: "Ermmm.... two and ten". I was a bit confused, and then upon realising what she mean't I said, "Oh... ten past two!" and she chuckled and corrected herself before patting me on the shoulder lol.
