    I work full-time as a biometric engineer. My aspirations are to help the environment, keep road safety and develop future cars, such as environmentally friendly smart cars but cost efficient and practical. I'm also trying to do certain family duties, such as meeting people, securing deals and helping out people who have difficulty with money, by offering them internships. So far this year 2000 more people work as interns and that's 500 more than last year. And I don't get promotions because my father's not the CEO but incharge of some work relative activities of the country of Norway. Sometimes I'm told off, hearing from people around me "Don't work so much there's other duties to preform." And I respond "I want to work for my wages and I do my responsibilities don't I?" Then the same family people say "Yes, you strange child." But I believe in work and it's amazing. Earning a wage is amazing and overall I want to develop and thrive Norway, because that's where I'm working. I also learnt English and continue to study English and watch your videos Anna. Oh recently there's been some political stress in the North Cape region, and that's where some infustructers lay with polotainum plants, which is also part of the environmental friendly programs set up there. But overall...not too stressed I guess💥😁 Learning a lot, I liked your videos Anna English yes!!!! 👍😅

    Excuse me for jumping into the chat, but I want to talk about the word resign. In Spain, if you want to resign whatever the reason or reasons why you want to quit you must make communication by hand or typing 15 days before. If you don't, the company can make an economic punishment by each day you have left your job with anticipation. But if you are fired, sucked, or how you want to call it. You can get an agreement with the compensation or sue the company and later going to a trial, and "The honor" (judge ) will decide how much will be the compensation. In here there is compensation for 33 days by years worked, before 2012 was 45 days by worked ones.

    Thanks for a quick lesson. BTW, I still don't know how to tell "profession" from "occupation", using them randomly.

    • @goonmacsloop2998
      @goonmacsloop2998 4 роки тому

      An Occupation is the work you do for your wages. It can apply to any job, skilled or unskilled, as it's a general term for what you do for your pay. A Profession is is work that requires extensive training to be qualified, usually a university degree. Doctors, lawyers, teachers and similar. There is also another area called a Trade. It requires less training than a profession but more than unskilled labor. Plumbers, HVAC or electricians.
      Examples of unskilled labor would be a store clerk, janitorial or farm laborers.
      These are general definitions and examples from my American point of view . In everyday usage, most people don't differentiate the terms and use them interchangeably in my experience. I hope I've helped and am sorry if I've made things more confusing.

    What's the difference between resign and step down?

    • @goonmacsloop2998
      @goonmacsloop2998 4 роки тому

      Very little in definition and can be used interchangeably. There can be subtle difference in the terms , at least to American ears. To a lot of us, resign is closer to "quitting", while stepping down is more like "retiring" even though both of those words mean the same thing in the end. That person will not be working here anymore. As i said, it's a very subtle difference that may not be shared by all english speakers.

      Congratulations. It can be tough being self employed but if you do it right then it can be very rewarding to be your own boss.
