When someone comes to me, or if I am having a conversation with a group of friends, one of the things that almost always works for me is to talk about a book, the author or some specific paragraph with which it has some correspondence of the fact that they are talking about. That makes me look very smart. Only God and now you know that I learned to read three months ago. Spectacular job. Greetings from Argentina.
I don't talk to much already. Your lesson is added an advantage. Thanks a lot for the advice and the lesson. We appreciate all your efforts and knowledge you're imparting in us.
Salve Anna! English used to have a complex grammar similar to German, but it was siplified so the English were able to communicate with the Norse. Both Old Norse and Old German had similar lexicons to Old English (German was a bit more similar). But since the English interacted more with the Norse they prefered to make the grammar more similar to Old Norse and assimilate Old Norse words to English. By doing that they lost a bit of their West Germanic linguistic roots, but English still remained a West Germanic language (mainly because of vocabulary). That's why modern Scandinavian (North Germanic) languages are easier to learn by English speakers than German even though German has more cognates. But the most similar and easiest to learn language for English speakers to learn is a West Germanic language, that language is Dutch.
Nice video Anna English...I gotta admit I have a very bad habit of saying 'how lovely' or 'very nice' or 'Yes that sounds good' or when I politely decline I say 'unfortuently no'...I learned this in manor class this...but taking notes from this video... I liked this video yes!!!!👍😅
Eye contact is my nightmare. It goes like this: At the beginning, I start talking to a person normally, then after a few seconds of eye contact, I begin feeling anxious and try to look away, and the more I talk, the more anxious I get, until I feel as if I'm going to faint. And now guess how I was able to solve this terrible problem: I simply wear sunglasses, day and night. :D
Hi, Anna. I'm Brazilian and teach Englsh as a foreign language in my city. So, I assume all the 8 tips you mentioned in this video are of great importance for those who are trying to sound like a native. I'm registering to your channel now
I have a problem of stammering. I am bit tensed when I am talking to other persons. My heart rate goes higher and higher. I don't know what to do. Please give me a solution. All the people around call me as hyper active person. I don't know it is good or bad
Thanks for teaching me how to engage with my sisters fiancé English father. I rather find as an American, I realized I unintentionally speak with a aggressive and domineering tone as compared to a leisured Englishman. Anna, I regard your advise as to be very alluring and your composer leaves me perplexed. How’s that?😉
Our vocabulary is growing exponentially. Let's grow it further courtesy of Mr. Smarty Pants (me). We are expecting the court to issue the subpoena soon. A figure of speech can also be known as a colloquialism. Stan's cantankerous brother-in-law never had a nice word to say. The bittersweet beginning was unexpected. There is credence to the old adage that boys never really grow up. A high level of nepotism exists within many industries. Often it isn't so much what you know as who you are related to. I thought neanderthals didn't exist after the Renaissance, but they're still alive and well! Sorry, I can't think of any more. LOL.

I just wouldn’t say “if you wanting”, were I an English teacher. It’s not 100% grammatically correct, even if it’s acceptable nowadays. Otherwise - a great video 👍🏻
I don’t say if you wanting. Not sure which part of the video you’re referring to but I’m sure you’ve just misheard. Or if it’s typed somewhere then it’s a typo.
How to be a "fake" smart persom.... Today we can see such kind of people everywhere it's becoming a very dangerous wold .... Please is not necessary to teach any body to be a "fake" smart... we are surrounded by them.
she ' s not teaching about how to be a ''fake'' person but how to ''sound'' smar (it doesn' t necessarily mean that you' re smart if you speak life this) lol also I' m pretty sure this is supposed to be a humorous lesson nothing too serious so
@@NewLegendXxX if you don't know something you have to say " I really don't know enything about this subject , could you please to tell me about this" certainly it will sound more sincere not fake... You dont need to know everything...
There are many words that we use which are popular in the US. Smart is British but the meaning here in the past was more about looking tidy, we still use it in this way, but smart meaning intelligent is also widely accepted here and no one would think it was odd to use smart instead of clever. Besides many people learning language start with American English so the meaning the video will be clearer to the majority. :)

Hi Anna
Hello there
Did you enjoy the lesson?
Yes Anna
👍👍
Hello! Anna. You say " if you are wanting to sound..." Isn't the word "want" the stative verb and cannot be used in continuous tense?
Traditional RP sounds smart

2:16 air about you
May I ask you what does air mean in these two phrases. Thanks.
Manner / a way of behaving.

Hello
Thanks for teaching me how to engage with my sisters fiancé English father. Excellent! But isn't the usage of "smart" in this meaning quite American? Shouldn't a Brit rather say "clever"?
