how is this any different from the Bowie version?

Hi thanks for getting in touch! It sounds to me like the original Bowie version uses a bend on the A - a semitone up to Bb before releasing back to A - and then a pull off to the G. The Nirvana version doesn’t use a bend but a small trill instead so a hammer-on followed immediately by a pull off and the G is articulated with the plectrum. The Nirvana version is tuned down a semitone however I kept this version in standard tuning to make it easier for people wanting to play along with my video 😊

I have always personally preferred Bowie and Midge Urs versions, and to me the Nirvana version sounded like Bowie's but with less enjoyable vocals (personal experience, very subjective!) and I couldn't actually pick up on the differences because I guess I don’t have a trained ear
I will have to revist them and pay attention for those differences. Thank you very much for the explanation! 😊
