Hey! Most of it is in 4/4 although the syncopation of the bass drum disguises it well! The last but one bar here on my video is in 2/4 but that's the only exception. Keep your ears locked on the hi hat 8ths, this should help! Stay in touch!

All my playing life 'yes' I was very strict on this, but 'no' when I recorded this video! My first few takes were completely positional using the pinky (of which I am a big fan) to cover the 15th fret however something didn't sound quite right, it was the sustain of one of the notes I think. Re-recording it using only the first three fingers (as Slash plays it) did help the riff sound more sustained - forensic detail but I do get engrossed in what I'm doing! On a similar point, I've personally come to realise that prioritising the first three fingers and stretching that little bit further does help to navigate your way up the guitar more freely when soloing. Box shapes are great for learning the fretboard inside out, transposition and mastering all of the neck's enharmonic equivalents, but keeping the pinky free for that even further stretch when needed to glide through positions I've found does really help to play in a more linear/horizontal way (which I find far more melodic) - not as a new rule but as another option and dimension to my playing. Hey! The E shape refers to the CAGED system whereby every scale, arpeggio and chord can be found within five frets, anywhere on the guitar using one of the five positions C, A, G, E, D. It's a huge topic but to quickly simplify... Imagine having a capo on the fifth fret and playing an open E Minor. The chord you will get is no longer an E minor but an A minor however it is now in the E shape. Now do this with a barre instead of a capo and you have an A minor chord in the E shape. You can play an arpeggio or a scale (in this case a minor pentatonic) from the same root note used for the chord and as they derive from this shape, can all be referred to as E shapes whilst remaining in the key of A minor.
