Getting power armor training in _New Vegas_ is a pain in the butt, but since power armor is rare, it makes sense that for game-balancing reasons it's difficult to get. In _Fallout 3,_ if you have the Operation Anchorage DLC, you can get power armor training by completing the simulation. It's literally possible to go straight to the Outcasts' outpost as soon as you exit Vault 101, so by the time you are level 3 you'll have power armor training and a suit of near-indestructible pre-War power armor.

Actually, with Jsawyer mod as the man himself Josh Sawyer stated, power armor aren't supposed to have the special training or Bethesda power armor training perk to equip power armor. This was intended by Josh to make New Vegas to be close to classic Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. The reason it needed the training perk was to gate player from getting the power armor early in Fallout 3 as Bethesda do not know how to balance the game proper just because they refused to use Damage Threshold(DT) armor system. Jsawyer mod addressed this balance problem by giving the player a temporary debuff if player manage to get power armor early on in New Vegas. The debuff can be remove by learning the perk of training with several NPCs that offer it ingame since Obsidian already have it there. A clever way of Josh to make sure that power armor was nothing more than just a walking tank with several flaws in combat and not some kind of OP stuff. In New Vegas, without Jsawyer mod, it's require to have that perk but that's because Obsidian don't have much time to manage the game development as they have to reused asset from Fallout 3, that's why most fans will said that Jsawyer mod was the last official patch or DLC to the game before Bethesda took over New Vegas from Obsidian after their contract ended, shame really.

going with the white hair dude in BOS is NOT straight forward because of the vaults mission. An absolute pain in the ass. The quest to make the other guy the new leader is extremely easy and it's all done inside the bunker. After that he just sends you to kill the van graffs and done, you have power armor training.

The reason that the body portion would have fallen off, is probably that it was BOS power armor. Companions can't wear faction armor for a faction they don't belong to. Veronica can wear BOS power armor because she is a member.
@@michaelproctor8100 Yes it does. Helmets aren't technically designated as faction armor. My courier is currently wearing a centurion helmet. So is my companion Veronica.

Would like to know if anybody knows but I'm already doing stuff for the NCR if I go to get the training now can I go right back to doing NCR stuff or even go to get the training in the first place? cuz I know the two factions don't really like each other to much
You can get the power armor training from the brotherhood as long you aren't villified or you've already attacked them. The Ncr's rep with you won't decrease and you can still do their quests afterwards as well. Instead, you can also do Arcade Gannon's questline for the training and get help from the enclave at hoover dam too, no matter which faction you side with. To get help from the enclave remnants during a legion playthrough, you'll have to say negative things about caesar to Arcade to get companion points for the quest.
If you go alone to hidden valley there is a rare chance to get ambush by the BOS in the sandstorm and they kick your ass haha it happen to me in a few playtrus pretty crazy tbh i dont know why but yeah and i was low levels

If your new I would go with making Hardin the elder its actually a lot faster you do have to complete an annoying side quest but it’s quicker and you get the bos safe house key to access t51b ammo and good weapons

Does the ncr care if you join BOS? I'm pretty much doing an ncr ending and am idolized with the ncr. I can't do the remnants because I've killed Mr. House too early.
I had to use bombs because it does a lot of damage if you bombs you around 50 or 40 you can use it on ncr ranger but brings lots of AID or you’ll die a lot

I found the bos base at level 19 without the help of yes man, I did find a dead paladin with the code thing quite early game tho.

I once tried to give Arcade T-51 power armor, the helmet stayed on but the body portion just fell off.

Technically you can, and the remnants have dialogue for that, but it requires you to make some pretty anti-legion decisions...
