One thing I wish I would have known before my first playthrough of New Vegas is that the route north of goodsprings is completely safe, and the game is just telling you it isn't, because people would get to New Vegas too quickly via Camp McCarran. The wildlife in that area is completely harmless.
This is super embarrassing for how long I’ve been playing this game, but I found out earlier this month that if you go to the strip, the credit check is to just see if you have 2000 caps, not that it costs 2000 to get inside. Can’t believe I thought that for as long as I did
The room in Novac is the best place for storage, multiple containers and a literal safe. Also there is a bed in there and the place is in the central part of the map so you can easily be well rested at all times for +10% increase in XP
i know the novac one is technically better but i really like making wolfhorn ranch my "home" in nv. the fast travel puts you very close to the door, it has pretty much the same amount of storage containers, and the containers inside of the house are a lot closer to each other making sorting easier and faster for me. it also just feels more cozy imo. not having well rested does kinda suck though.
For me on the last tip. I agree on not fighing the Powder Gangers. But for different reasons. Youre locked out of potential early game quests when youre hated by them. So most new players who helps the town never gets the experince of interacting with the Powder faction.
My trick for avoiding being an enemy of the Powder Gangers is not killing them at the end of Ghost Town Gunfight. If you pass all skillchecks the townsfolk are so OP that they kill all bandits without your help. And you can even damage them but as long as you don't personally kill them you gain no infamy with them. You will gain some infamy for completing the quest but this only gets you to shunned. They don't like you but they aren't immediately hostile. You can still go to NCRCF and do quests for them.
Damn I've always done the powder gangers first then good springs even if it doesn't rly make sense to do in that order from your characters perspective, just cuz I always side with good springs in the ghost town gunfight and get vilified haha

By the end of the game I have stuff in Novac, Old World Blues home base, Dead Money bunker, and dumpster in Goodsprings. What a mess but you end up with more than the vendors can buy and the Dead Money gold bars means selling other stuff is just to clear out inventory.
Number 11.5: Be sure to install the '4gb memory usage' mod. FO:NV is a 32bit program. Thus it can only use 2gb of RAM/VRAM in total at a time. And with the all the cell buffering going on, and very few places that it purges the cell buffers itself; Makes the game very crash happy. Allowing it to use 4gb of RAM/VRAM with the mod, make the game a lot more stable.

I just finished my first play through and I actually used that dumpster you mention from the start. I didn't even realize some of the containers reset. The thing that makes that such a great location for a homebase is that you have the crafting benches, Chet to barter with, and Doc can fix you up for 50 caps. Doctors Bag cost more than 50 caps ( Maybe not with high Bartering skill?) and you probably can't make them yet ( again maybe with high Medicine skill?). It takes a while just to where you have all the right ingredients for doctors bags even if you have a high enough skill. Also, you can pick the Intense Training perk more than once. You can even pick the same stat more than once if you're so inclined. Edit: There's also a Mojave Express directly beside the dumpster. You can literally ship stuff directly to your storage area without needing to travel yourself. Allowing you to continue what you were doing without getting bogged down in the inventory management mini game. Encumbered? Not anymore. Deal with it later.
Good video :). Just so you know, the special dialogs for low Intelligence was also in the old Fallout 1 and 2, and Temple of Elemental Evil (which I think shared a few developers in common with New Vegas).
There are several (3-4) boxes between the prospector's saloon and the general store at Goodsprings, right after the two benches against a wall of the general store. Their contains never reset and it will allow you to separate your stuff like weapons, armor, miscellaneous items or whatever you want to separate, for quicker look up. Especially if you have tons of stuff. On the other hand you can use filters.
#2 don’t do that. Best two early game spots are Victors shack in good spring, and your room at Novac. I’ve had items disappear from dumpsters, learned that long ago 😂
The best thing to do is to discover the Mojave Express box outside Chet's store, then run down the road to Primm to (a) get the fast travel point so you can bypass all the Powder Gangers once you've pissed them off and (b) discover the Mojave Express box inside the Mojave Express office. After that, you can just mail your excess loot from one town to the other for free then pick it up at will, take whatever you need, and mail the rest to the other town. This is also one of the reasons why I choose the motel room in Novac as my permanent base (I can just ship all my loot there once I've discovered the box in the motel office and only have to be overencumbered between there and my room, which is much shorter than the walk from the Strip box to the Lucky 38, the Tops, or Sarah's hotel, or from the Freeside box to the Atomic Wrangler).
My word of advice to new players is always do a blind play through of any fallout game you’re playing, and then on your second play through that will inevitably happen you can look up things.
If you complete Ghost Town Gun Fight but you hang back and allow the Goodsprings settlers to do all of the fighting, you'll lose affinity with the Powder Gangers but not the same amount you'd lose if you partake in the fight yourself. You'll reach "shunned" status with them but not "vilified", meaning they won't open fire on you on sight. You can then go up to the correctional facility, do some quests for them and raise your reputation with them to a more neutral status.

Dont follow tip 2. If you know what you're doing, by level 6, you'll have the penthouse at the lucky 38 and will have found the gun runners merchant. Their inventory resets on Wednesday's and Sunday's, use the wait button and skip to either day, and then sell your stuff.
If you have Lonesome Road DLC, just go to the Divide and unlock the 1st commissary in the 1st bunker. It refills caps when the remaining caps are low enough
I would go for the powder gangers in the beginning in Good springs for sure just to get the loot. If you stay shunned or better P gangers from other camps such as the NCR correctional facility will not attack you.
-Try to be get friendly with powder gangers after initial falling out. -Go to prison for some quest. -Guy at the door is condescending and if I remember correctly he tries extorting a bribe for me to enter. -I guess my original opinion of you lot was correct. Time for my ambassador mr. Plasma Rifle to take over negotiations. -Cleared out the entire thing -No regrets
Another thing to add about postponing Ghost Town Gunfight. If you go to the prison, you can get a series of small quests from the Powder Ganger leader Eddie called I Fought The Law. If you complete that quest, which gives you access to a few NPCs that you otherwise will never encounter, giving opportunities for dialogue checks and combat for more xp, by betraying Eddie to the NCR, you can then go back to Goodsprings for Ghost Town Gunfight with no penalty. You can further maximize xp gain by silently killing all the Powder Gangers in the prison before the NCR takes the prison back so you don’t end up competing with them for kills at the end of I Fought The Law.
In number 5, remnants power armor from arcades quest is not faction armor in the game, unlike brotherhood armor that marks you as a brotherhood of steel member.
I have always used the speech check glitch from the run good springs run quest. Kill ringo for cob then agree to get supplies then kill the powder gangers. Infinite speech check at the merchant in the general store. I did 10 levels right at the start
So, regarding Jury Rigging: Sure, it's great. I'm a habitual Jury Rigger myself. It's not the only option, though. Honestly, it's QoL if you want all your perks to really matter, 'cause a trash goblin has plenty of Repair Kits and Caps, and a Hustler gets by. All you have to know, is which Vendors that do full repairs. I'm not usually up for the grind, though, so like I said; I go for the Jury Rigging as well.
Location triggers that don't work will suddenly work if you sit on something. Like the one in Camp McCarran. You enter the door of the monorail building and then sit on one of the seats if it doesn't trigger.
Very useful coverage. I started playing fallout for the first time on PC with fallout 3 recently. Great game. I'm 20 hours in. But once I finish this game, I'm thinking of starting fallout 4 or New Vegas next. I can't decide. But this video is greatly helpful for when I do decide to start to play Vegas.
Do you like FPS as a preestablished character in a wasteland you explore and create custom towns in? Or a RPG with Story and Difficult Choices in morally gray competing societies trying to lead the new world? They're two very different games and both unconnected to the events of 3 if that helps
If you want a more traditional fallout go with Vegas im currently playing it now for the 5th time I completed fallout 4 last week for the 3rd time and even though there is a lot that is good in fallout 4 it’s just not as good
Also, when you're willing to part ways with the companions (if you have one) and you already unlocked the Lucky 38 presidential suit, never send them there, they will lose any gear or equipment you gave them (to store or to actually equip them)
I always visit Primm first to start the quest for the town to get a new sheriff, before I start my assault on the Powder Gangers. That way, I can safely enter the prison to recruit the human sheriff dude. (I've never been a Primm Slim kinda guy lol.) Then, I go back and help the town lay waste to Cobb and the rest. Again, not that the dynamite-chuckers are necessarily difficult to defeat, but it makes it a lot easier. Just my own approach.

@@SwizzleStickMcGee It doesn't work like an inventory though. All you can do is send and receive. When you receive items you get them all at once. You can't root through them for specific items. If anything this is actually another reason the dumpster idea works. You can literally ship stuff directly to your storage area with out needing to travel yourself.
So far I've been pretty meticulous about my faction armors bit actually the glitch happened where is didn't register taking off the armor so like major of npcs were instantly hostile on site. The fix I read that worked for me was take off said faction armor on and off without swapping armors. Just took a bit cause I just didn't know which armor it was glitches on.
Jury rigging is not strictly necessary as long as you keep scavenging scrap metal, scrap electronics, duct tape, wonderglue and wrenches to craft weapon repair kits. Granted, the scavenging playstyle can feel a little tedious for some, so Jury Rigging is there for convenience.
If you don’t wanna store all your stuff in a literal dumpster, there’s another storage I like to use in Goodsprings, Doc Mitchell’s bedroom wardrobe. Idk why I picked that specifically but I’ve done it so many times it’s like a tradition in my runs
If you free the powder gangers that were captured at nipton you’ll receive fame toward them and they won’t be hostile after the goodsprings mission unless you hang around too long
The Apartment safe in NOVAC is a much better place to drop your gear IMO, just a better overall location, only thing it doesn't have is a reloading bench.
Few things to note charisma is pointless just level up barter and speech, intelligence and perception are the bigger stats you want to focus on. If you play on console be careful it’s very buggy and only really worth it for the dlc. Play on PC if you can, this game really benefits from mods. The dlc should only be played at certain levels. Also fyi the game at times tends to be a left stick simulator.
Perception is only useful for perks. So getting to 6 or 7 Perception is all you need. Perception only increases the distance at which enemies are marked on your compass (literally ED-E's perk is better). The universally useful stats are: Strength: for carry weight Endurance: health and resistances Intelligence: skill points Luck: critical chance Agility increases reload speed and action points, so it's kinda useful. Perception is useless but has good perks attached to it. Charisma is useless and has bad perks attached to it.
The crashing is what made my playthrough a bit rough and sometimes very unenjoyable.. The most crashes ive found myself in are definitely in the casino where Benny is located, my first playtrough was a bit chaotic, so i killed Benny right away and everytime from that moment i engaged combat in the building, the game just crashed. Ever since i ''spared'' Benny and killed him in the arena where Ceasar is located, the game would never crash since then, pretty weird if you ask me
Jury Rigging is nice but not necessary, 50 repair is the minimum for crafting weapon repair kits and they can carry you through high drain ammo and weapons. Of course without mods there are no Armor Repair Kits, which is where jury Rigging will be very helpful. Especially if you want to use power armor since they're expensive and rare Edit: also forgot you can buy infinite weapon repair kits from the sierra Madre machine after Dead Money

When assassians come after you if you equip a set of legion armor then an ncr ranger troop spawns and attacks you even with amazing standing with ncr. I was caught off guard and didnt have time to travel so i equip the legion armor to try to blend in. All of a sudden ncr rangers came after a bounty on my head.
I took Veronica to vault 3 the other day. She says her dialog while traveling, she doesn’t initiate the conversation screen. She said her dialog on her own then after she started talking at me to start her mission
Fun thung i always remebered is at camp McCarren you can just sbeak past the guards and use the monorail to get to the strip they stop veing hostile once you get there 😂😂
so im a little confused on something, ive got hundereds of hours in new vegas and i have never once experienced a container respawning its contents? even if its an area i havent gone to in weeks in game. Can someone shed some insight as to why this might be happening? i find it hard to belive that every single container i go back to check or double check if i wasnt sure if i looted it just happened to be marked as "safe".

I surprised myself by killing Benny in his casino on the casino floor. I had max stealth, used a stealthboy, and a silenced 22. Wasn't expecting it to work but it did, nobody reacted
10 - Understandable yet shameful that the games released after got rid of this, I think. 9 - Brings into mind your Megaton house in FO3. 8 - A hassle, but not one that frustrates if one gets acclimatized. 7 - Speaking of that Veronica bit, I really fear for New Vegas getting a big official fix nowadays. We don't want another Fallout 4 debacle. 6 - And even then, can your stats comfortably wear the stuff? 5 - A far cry from the previous games too. 4 - Like playing as the Malkavians in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. 3 - Do be careful in case the books occasionally get bugged and not show up, or are just blown away to somewhere you don't know. 2 - Veterans who've read the first two games' manuals will know this by heart and mind. 1 - It also properly showcases the needed pragmatism and nuance of the Western Seaboard compared to the Eastern Seaboard of 3 and 4. Really good introduction to the game and what it is about, if you know what you're doing.
About the last tip, can't you just put on a Powder Ganger armor that will reset the reputation with them? P.S. I tested things out because I felt my question was a good one and I can report that you can be Vilified with the PG, put on one of their armor and the guys patrolling the roads won't bother you. If you try to enter the NCR prison, though, the guy outside will become hostile and aggro the other guards against you, too. Even if you sneak inside in some way, the generic Powder Gangers won't bother you but the named ones (except Meyers) will become hostile as soon as they see you.

4:45 Dan you forgot to mention that the implants do not work for Perk requirements. For example, if you have 7 STR and increase to 8 through the implants, you wont be able to take a perk that demands 8 STR, only intense training will work that way. I discovered this when I took an implant to increase my AGL to 6 for the Sniper perk, but it didnt work with the Implant, then I took Intense training and it did. The implants will work for Speech Checks, Weapon Requirements and Enviroment Interactions, but not for Perk Requirements.
You are plain wrong, implants act as a permanent upgrade, not temporary. So they affect the perk choice. You either had some mod installed that affected the balance of the game, encountered a bug or just did not notice that you had a temporary point (from armor etc.) so implant did not affect the perk choice.

You can double check it, implants work as permanent buffs as opposed to perk increase, they don't count towards the base perk amount for perk requirements, they work for speech checks, weapon requirements, etc. if you have 5 PER and increase it to 6 to get Sniper Perk through implants, it won't count.
"Since the effects of implants bought from Dr. Usanagi are counted as a permanent increase to your SPECIAL, they will affect the perks available to the player." - per Wiki. If you do not consider (multiple) wikies a valid source, please post a video of unmodded run where the implant did not unlock the choice for you. At first comment you mentioned you increased agility and it didnt work. However, at the second comment you mention perception. Which one is it for you then? Perhaps you picked "Four Eyes" trait which gives you a PERMANENT -1 to perception, which actually affects the perk choices?
Repair is definitely a priority every run through. It’s also before they turn the VAT system into the shit hole it is now so max luck is extremely OP like 1/8 shots is a crit hit.
I wish I knew how to play the hacking mini game in my first playthrough. What you do is remove all the duds first instead of guessing words and exiting out then going back in the computer
You get four 'lives' to find the correct password. Try three attempts THEN remove the duds as you sometimes get an 'attempts replenished' which resets your lives back to four.
The tips are great but if you know too much before you start it can ruin the experience. Going in blind and figuring it out the hard way is more rewarding than just coping what someone else does
What i do is lean in on the buggy-ness. Doing xp glitches? Fine with me. Going through the game with a 9m pistol and 22,000 bullets? Something I’ve done
I wish I knew about storing items elsewhere. I’m just scared it’ll be gone when I need to use it. I’ve walked across the Mojave with over 2000 lbs worth of items just to send weapons in one mailbox, food in other.
#11: Don’t agonize over what route you want to go, and who you want to support. The game will put you on the spot many times, it can be a bit confusing if you’re stupid like me, and you’ll probably end up changing affiliations and hopping between questlines all the time. Indecisive players beware.
In mid game and with a decent sneak, Harper's shack is the best for storage. Lots of containers that don't respawn AND all of the crafting stuff is there. Just save before quick travel to it. Sometimes a deathclaw will be there.
Number 11: if you see a path out of Goodsprings with KEEP OUT signs everywhere, and you ignore the warning, you’re going to F$ck around and find out!

I love being attacked by powder gangers early game. Lots of dynamite to use and sell for the first few levels before frag grenades start showing up.
What is useful is to know which quests to hold off on before making the decision of which faction ending to have.

You have also a campfire and a water source very near, at Goodspring Source, in case of need.
You can drink water from any source continously by holding E button long enough.

There are several (3-4) boxes between the prospector's saloon and the general store at Goodsprings, right after the two benches against a wall of the general store. Their contains never reset and it will allow you to separate your stuff like weapons, armor, miscellaneous items or whatever you want to separate, for quicker look up. Especially if you have tons of stuff. On the other hand you can use filters.
#2 don’t do that. Best two early game spots are Victors shack in good spring, and your room at Novac. I’ve had items disappear from dumpsters, learned that long ago 😂
The best thing to do is to discover the Mojave Express box outside Chet's store, then run down the road to Primm to (a) get the fast travel point so you can bypass all the Powder Gangers once you've pissed them off and (b) discover the Mojave Express box inside the Mojave Express office. After that, you can just mail your excess loot from one town to the other for free then pick it up at will, take whatever you need, and mail the rest to the other town.
This is also one of the reasons why I choose the motel room in Novac as my permanent base (I can just ship all my loot there once I've discovered the box in the motel office and only have to be overencumbered between there and my room, which is much shorter than the walk from the Strip box to the Lucky 38, the Tops, or Sarah's hotel, or from the Freeside box to the Atomic Wrangler).

My word of advice to new players is always do a blind play through of any fallout game you’re playing, and then on your second play through that will inevitably happen you can look up things.

If you complete Ghost Town Gun Fight but you hang back and allow the Goodsprings settlers to do all of the fighting, you'll lose affinity with the Powder Gangers but not the same amount you'd lose if you partake in the fight yourself. You'll reach "shunned" status with them but not "vilified", meaning they won't open fire on you on sight. You can then go up to the correctional facility, do some quests for them and raise your reputation with them to a more neutral status.

Dont follow tip 2. If you know what you're doing, by level 6, you'll have the penthouse at the lucky 38 and will have found the gun runners merchant. Their inventory resets on Wednesday's and Sunday's, use the wait button and skip to either day, and then sell your stuff.
If you have Lonesome Road DLC, just go to the Divide and unlock the 1st commissary in the 1st bunker. It refills caps when the remaining caps are low enough
I would go for the powder gangers in the beginning in Good springs for sure just to get the loot. If you stay shunned or better P gangers from other camps such as the NCR correctional facility will not attack you.
The Powder Gangers make easy leveling up early in the game. Plus you become idolized in a town super early.

Another thing to add about postponing Ghost Town Gunfight. If you go to the prison, you can get a series of small quests from the Powder Ganger leader Eddie called I Fought The Law. If you complete that quest, which gives you access to a few NPCs that you otherwise will never encounter, giving opportunities for dialogue checks and combat for more xp, by betraying Eddie to the NCR, you can then go back to Goodsprings for Ghost Town Gunfight with no penalty.
You can further maximize xp gain by silently killing all the Powder Gangers in the prison before the NCR takes the prison back so you don’t end up competing with them for kills at the end of I Fought The Law.
In number 5, remnants power armor from arcades quest is not faction armor in the game, unlike brotherhood armor that marks you as a brotherhood of steel member.
I have always used the speech check glitch from the run good springs run quest. Kill ringo for cob then agree to get supplies then kill the powder gangers. Infinite speech check at the merchant in the general store. I did 10 levels right at the start
So, regarding Jury Rigging: Sure, it's great. I'm a habitual Jury Rigger myself. It's not the only option, though.
Honestly, it's QoL if you want all your perks to really matter, 'cause a trash goblin has plenty of Repair Kits and Caps, and a Hustler gets by. All you have to know, is which Vendors that do full repairs.
I'm not usually up for the grind, though, so like I said; I go for the Jury Rigging as well.
I always use the mailbox outside Doc's house in Goodsprings, personally.
My brain doesn't like the idea of putting things larger than a mailbox in a mailbox. 😂
Location triggers that don't work will suddenly work if you sit on something. Like the one in Camp McCarran. You enter the door of the monorail building and then sit on one of the seats if it doesn't trigger.
Very useful coverage. I started playing fallout for the first time on PC with fallout 3 recently. Great game. I'm 20 hours in. But once I finish this game, I'm thinking of starting fallout 4 or New Vegas next. I can't decide. But this video is greatly helpful for when I do decide to start to play Vegas.
Do you like FPS as a preestablished character in a wasteland you explore and create custom towns in? Or a RPG with Story and Difficult Choices in morally gray competing societies trying to lead the new world? They're two very different games and both unconnected to the events of 3 if that helps
If you want a more traditional fallout go with Vegas im currently playing it now for the 5th time I completed fallout 4 last week for the 3rd time and even though there is a lot that is good in fallout 4 it’s just not as good
Also, when you're willing to part ways with the companions (if you have one) and you already unlocked the Lucky 38 presidential suit, never send them there, they will lose any gear or equipment you gave them (to store or to actually equip them)

You can for example turn one energy weapon ammunition type into another. Just like that, without any items.
I always visit Primm first to start the quest for the town to get a new sheriff, before I start my assault on the Powder Gangers. That way, I can safely enter the prison to recruit the human sheriff dude. (I've never been a Primm Slim kinda guy lol.) Then, I go back and help the town lay waste to Cobb and the rest. Again, not that the dynamite-chuckers are necessarily difficult to defeat, but it makes it a lot easier. Just my own approach.
Holding tab activates a flashlight, got lost in vaults so many times before finding it out

@@SwizzleStickMcGee It doesn't work like an inventory though. All you can do is send and receive. When you receive items you get them all at once. You can't root through them for specific items. If anything this is actually another reason the dumpster idea works. You can literally ship stuff directly to your storage area with out needing to travel yourself.
So far I've been pretty meticulous about my faction armors bit actually the glitch happened where is didn't register taking off the armor so like major of npcs were instantly hostile on site. The fix I read that worked for me was take off said faction armor on and off without swapping armors. Just took a bit cause I just didn't know which armor it was glitches on.
Jury rigging is not strictly necessary as long as you keep scavenging scrap metal, scrap electronics, duct tape, wonderglue and wrenches to craft weapon repair kits. Granted, the scavenging playstyle can feel a little tedious for some, so Jury Rigging is there for convenience.

The Apartment safe in NOVAC is a much better place to drop your gear IMO, just a better overall location, only thing it doesn't have is a reloading bench.
They are benches for ammo and making things across the road from the motel at novac
Few things to note charisma is pointless just level up barter and speech, intelligence and perception are the bigger stats you want to focus on.
If you play on console be careful it’s very buggy and only really worth it for the dlc.
Play on PC if you can, this game really benefits from mods.
The dlc should only be played at certain levels.
Also fyi the game at times tends to be a left stick simulator.
Perception is only useful for perks. So getting to 6 or 7 Perception is all you need. Perception only increases the distance at which enemies are marked on your compass (literally ED-E's perk is better).
The universally useful stats are:
Strength: for carry weight
Endurance: health and resistances
Intelligence: skill points
Luck: critical chance
Agility increases reload speed and action points, so it's kinda useful.
Perception is useless but has good perks attached to it.
Charisma is useless and has bad perks attached to it.
focus on perception? smooth brain
for number two, if you kill the powder gangers and do the xp glitch and put all the leather armor in the trash, the dead body’s get it.

The crashing is what made my playthrough a bit rough and sometimes very unenjoyable..
The most crashes ive found myself in are definitely in the casino where Benny is located, my first playtrough was a bit chaotic, so i killed Benny right away and everytime from that moment i engaged combat in the building, the game just crashed.
Ever since i ''spared'' Benny and killed him in the arena where Ceasar is located, the game would never crash since then, pretty weird if you ask me
Jury Rigging is nice but not necessary, 50 repair is the minimum for crafting weapon repair kits and they can carry you through high drain ammo and weapons.
Of course without mods there are no Armor Repair Kits, which is where jury Rigging will be very helpful. Especially if you want to use power armor since they're expensive and rare
Edit: also forgot you can buy infinite weapon repair kits from the sierra Madre machine after Dead Money

When assassians come after you if you equip a set of legion armor then an ncr ranger troop spawns and attacks you even with amazing standing with ncr.
I was caught off guard and didnt have time to travel so i equip the legion armor to try to blend in. All of a sudden ncr rangers came after a bounty on my head.
I took Veronica to vault 3 the other day. She says her dialog while traveling, she doesn’t initiate the conversation screen. She said her dialog on her own then after she started talking at me to start her mission

so im a little confused on something, ive got hundereds of hours in new vegas and i have never once experienced a container respawning its contents? even if its an area i havent gone to in weeks in game. Can someone shed some insight as to why this might be happening? i find it hard to belive that every single container i go back to check or double check if i wasnt sure if i looted it just happened to be marked as "safe".

I surprised myself by killing Benny in his casino on the casino floor. I had max stealth, used a stealthboy, and a silenced 22. Wasn't expecting it to work but it did, nobody reacted

P.S. I tested things out because I felt my question was a good one and I can report that you can be Vilified with the PG, put on one of their armor and the guys patrolling the roads won't bother you. If you try to enter the NCR prison, though, the guy outside will become hostile and aggro the other guards against you, too. Even if you sneak inside in some way, the generic Powder Gangers won't bother you but the named ones (except Meyers) will become hostile as soon as they see you.
Gas station in good springs has a safe and tons of storage spots too.
Recommending new players to not do Ghost Town Gunfight is insanity. It literally defines what new vegas is all about.

Jury Rigging becomes obsolete if you use the pickpocket trick on Raul in his shack, and you have enough caps to cover repairs.

4:45 Dan you forgot to mention that the implants do not work for Perk requirements. For example, if you have 7 STR and increase to 8 through the implants, you wont be able to take a perk that demands 8 STR, only intense training will work that way. I discovered this when I took an implant to increase my AGL to 6 for the Sniper perk, but it didnt work with the Implant, then I took Intense training and it did.
The implants will work for Speech Checks, Weapon Requirements and Enviroment Interactions, but not for Perk Requirements.
You are plain wrong, implants act as a permanent upgrade, not temporary. So they affect the perk choice. You either had some mod installed that affected the balance of the game, encountered a bug or just did not notice that you had a temporary point (from armor etc.) so implant did not affect the perk choice.

You can double check it, implants work as permanent buffs as opposed to perk increase, they don't count towards the base perk amount for perk requirements, they work for speech checks, weapon requirements, etc. if you have 5 PER and increase it to 6 to get Sniper Perk through implants, it won't count.
"Since the effects of implants bought from Dr. Usanagi are counted as a permanent increase to your SPECIAL, they will affect the perks available to the player." - per Wiki. If you do not consider (multiple) wikies a valid source, please post a video of unmodded run where the implant did not unlock the choice for you.
At first comment you mentioned you increased agility and it didnt work. However, at the second comment you mention perception. Which one is it for you then? Perhaps you picked "Four Eyes" trait which gives you a PERMANENT -1 to perception, which actually affects the perk choices?
Repair is definitely a priority every run through. It’s also before they turn the VAT system into the shit hole it is now so max luck is extremely OP like 1/8 shots is a crit hit.
I wish I knew how to play the hacking mini game in my first playthrough. What you do is remove all the duds first instead of guessing words and exiting out then going back in the computer
You get four 'lives' to find the correct password. Try three attempts THEN remove the duds as you sometimes get an 'attempts replenished' which resets your lives back to four.
The tips are great but if you know too much before you start it can ruin the experience. Going in blind and figuring it out the hard way is more rewarding than just coping what someone else does

Stuff changes. An NCR ending doesn't mean they can't fall later. Todd Howard has pretty much said the NCR is dead and gone regardless.

Don’t agonize over what route you want to go, and who you want to support. The game will put you on the spot many times, it can be a bit confusing if you’re stupid like me, and you’ll probably end up changing affiliations and hopping between questlines all the time. Indecisive players beware.
I mean using intense training perks is absolutely improing your SPECIAL by leveling up, the exact opposite of what you claimed.
In mid game and with a decent sneak, Harper's shack is the best for storage. Lots of containers that don't respawn AND all of the crafting stuff is there. Just save before quick travel to it. Sometimes a deathclaw will be there.
