  • The pedagogies we employ can nurture or discourage the development of social and emotional competencies in our students and ourselves. How we instruct can inspire or stifle equity and social justice in our classrooms and in our school communities. In this session, we will utilize several Liberating Structures to demonstrate how this pedagogical approach is uniquely suited to support the development of essential pro-social, emotion related skills including; self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, responsible decision making, perspective-taking, and creative problem-solving skills. These social and emotional skills are foundational to equity and social justice.
