It's a great riff but I'd like the mids brought up a little more to make those higher alternating octaves pop out a little more.... but that's just me?
I can't believe how much better it sounds when the instruments stand out in the mix. They really dropped the ball with regards to production on the studio recording.
Here's the dealio, the recorded version has a depth and a grittiness that this live version does not. The pedals and mixing are just a bit heavier (it's hard to describe). Personally I love how it sounds recorded. I feel like it adds to the anger and confusion of the song, which only makes it better. But that's just me. I appreciate the differentness of this version (especially how the bass is more prevalent) but it adds a different element and changes the initial feeling of the song.
This song is a literary gift. Paul, in the midst of the recriminations of love, inserted the intellectual gem "the next artery", which is not an element of speech, but a fragment of pure thought that suddenly arises in the mind of the speaking, as he is approaching his home, where presumably the story with her will end. Anyone who is capable of such finesse is certainly a great and true poet.
the bass is up (better), there seems to be a bit more space in the sound (good), but paul's voice is a bit less distinct, but the the recorded version works for me too
If you really love nothing On what future do we build illusions If you really love nothing Do we wait in silent glory If you really love nothing What part of betrayal do you wish to deny Whenever I find my home The next artery Splendid I bled my whole life So it's probably a kiss goodbye then If you really love nothing Everybody's made up Everybody's losing If you really love nothing Shall we sleep in silent glory If you really love nothing How could you be there You could just leave forever When I find my home The next artery Splendid I bled my whole life So it's probably a kiss goodbye then It's goodbye then You can trace a hole upon your dress On your dress, on your dress, on you dress Breath in it's optimal Reading remember The week's end grading Better than seven other men Wayward from women who break dimension I know that you could just leave forever When I find my home The next artery Splendid I bled my whole life So it's gonna be a kiss goodbye then This is goodbye then You can trace a hole upon your dress And give me goodbye and a kiss I see you trace that hole upon your chest Give me goodbye and a kiss
Hello Danielle, Interpol perform their songs also on stage without dispersion and blandishments towards the public, reproducing the CD almost exactly: a real war machine.
@@bearzdlc2172 in past years yeah, if you watch live stuff from 2017 his voice was awful but now he’s sounding great live, I’ve watched them live in 2019 and 2022 and the difference was huge
I see people saying they like this more than the studio version, but I think both are amazing for their own respective reasons. This one has a much clearer tone, but the studio version is great (at least in my opinion) for its very ethereal sounding echoey mix. Either way, absolute banger of a song.
Studio version was recorded in mag tapes, which loved what they did there. This version is also great. I believe there's different occasions where the version will fit better
They sound perfect, as usual!! So happy to hear those basslines pop, Daniel's riff, Paul and Brandon both sound amazing and balanced, and Sam is always perfect!
If you haven't heard the AOL sessions they did back in 2007 I highly recommend. I like that version of "Evil" and "Heinrich Maneuver" better than the originals.
I feel like this might be Interpol's strongest track among an already deep catalog of great songs. Obviously, tastes are subjective, but this really is a well-crafted gem of a song.
Esta ejecución demuestra que la buena música siempre tendrá algo distinto que decirnos cada vez que la escuches.. mas aun en vivo. Interpol es un estilo dominado y perfectamente ejecutado.
Props to the BBC audio team. This sounds stellar...
so much better than their original recording.....
that bouncy bass riff is perfection
It's a great riff but I'd like the mids brought up a little more to make those higher alternating octaves pop out a little more.... but that's just me?
@@TheRolloFX We all would like to hear that higher octaves popping the fuck out, man. Just like in the good old C. Dengler times.
@@luciano53688 Yeah man.... Gotta miss Carlos sometimes. He was mister controlled attack on the bass for sure!
Brad Truax 🤘
@@DAVID-xq4ew yeah today I can see that Brad does a great job too
Marauder needs to be re-recorded in its enterely in that studio!
Yep, this has a punch to it for sure.
Entirety
Holy shit, yes please.
Couldn´t agree more, the last production doesnt fit the Genius of this great band. This is how the cd could have sound. Interpol as it´s best!
Great stuff from Interpol, not difficult to guess who the song is about.
The drummer's in quarantine before it was mainstream
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha crying 😂😂😂
Haha so funny
He was ahead for his time
😂
Interpol are such a class band
Classy
Like they highlight class struggle?
The sound of the BASS in this song is on top🔥🔥
I can't believe how much better it sounds when the instruments stand out in the mix.
They really dropped the ball with regards to production on the studio recording.
They did.
They really, really did.
I can't believe how much I disagree.
lads
Depends on where I'm listening. In my car it does not sound as good as at home.

ok grandpa, let's find you a seat in the shade.
One of the best songwriters of my generation
Absolute codswallop. You are a moron.
Much better mix than the studio version
Christopher Hewitt couldn’t agree more. Band are happy with Dave Fridmann but I don’t think the fans are
I dig both versions. The studio version is also excellent.

Best rock song of the year.
This song greatly benefits from being played live. They definitely elevate this version above the album mix holy shit it’s so much better.
This is a good day, Interpol is on top
that's how the record should have sounded
Totally agree! This is more acid, more garage, I love that dirty sound. Miss the "Turn on the bright lights" vibe

the mix is better than the one on the album. it sounds so good
Mi banda favorita de todos los tiemposss 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
I really hope they drop more videos from this presentation
This song is their masterpiece.
Stay in Touch you mean.
Or PDA
You guys clearly haven't listened to Turn On the Bright Lights in awhile
I must say, I prefer PDA, Say Hello to the Angels, and the Heinrich Maneuver.
It's The New.
They sound so much better live compared to their previous performances. Crisp and clear sound from a classy band!
Joder Interpol, por ustedes no me he matado aún
that voice is powerful
This is one of their best songs ever
Flawless. They've always been a great live band.
i love this song, this version in particular.
Why is this SO much better than the studio version? So many different elements I am hearing for the first time.
