I put these on my Tiger 900 GT Pro because I'm more of a tourer than ADV. I've had one heavy fall on a concrete causeway and the bag survived well and the rack didn't bend, all good there. The locking system is fiddly and you have to keep the moving parts of the 4p system lubricated because they do jam up with dust exposure. I've used them in torrential rain at highway speeds and had little ingress through the first layer so I'm pretty impressed. I specifically chose soft luggage even though I'm a tourer because I dropped my previous bike ( just stupid carpark overbalance) and smashed my plastc pannier which was very hard and expensive to replace (the Tiger 660 has a proprietary system which is hard to circumvent). The latch system is a bit of a pain but it's not the end of the world. I like them but I don't LOVE them. 7/10
I have a yellow Tuareg with Shad TR40 and in Europe (France) it's one of the cheapest combo. I would have appriciate to have a "stand by" position for the hooks to not lock them when I'm close to the bike and use the locking system only on purpose. But happy with them (no fall yet) as light, strong support (very rigid and suitable for others soft panniers with fixation by strap)
Picked a set of these up from Shad Canada for my 2024 790 Adventure. They had a package deal with soft bags and racks going. $950.00 CAD to my door. Couldn’t pass it up. Easy installation.
If you want to use the bag regularly and avoid the locking hassles then you can buy 2 g hook buckles that fit into the locks, then you fit a small looped strap on the g hooks which you can use to connect to the permanent buckles. If you go touring and want to use the permanent buckles and locks as designed, then you can just remove the g hook buckles.
I would like to hear more about this solution. I hate the restrictive nature of the hooks that are seen to the fabric of the case. What is the point of that? It means the straps on top are superfluous!
Ian, Always a fair review . I will stay with my Lone Rider. I love those bags. I have tried a few different brands in the past and i like L.R. the best
I fully understand how you're saying, one of the cons about these soft panniers, is that they could be easily cut open. But when it comes down to it any security system, they can all be breeched by a determined thief. With a good small "pinch Bar" to force the lock, or a quite cordless drill with a cobalt drill bit, to bore out the key cylinder, I rekon even a hard pannier is still vulnerable. It really depends on how determined the thief is. So, anything that can slow a thief down and hopefully they decide to something easier to "crack" is worthwhile.
I fogot the price, but they are cheaper in EU… paid around 380 eur for bags only couple of months ago. Mounted it to guzzi v85tt and it looks great, nice size, decent quality. I realy hope you also get the soft top box and review it as I currently have their hard topcase mounted and am looking to potentialy change it for something lighter…
Found the price - if anybody is interested: 450 eur for bags and 200 for the mounts for moto guzzi v85tt. I got a 15% discount so it was 550 EUR all together. Very competitive price when you compare other systems and offers.
Thanks for the video. I’m stuck between the shad and the sw motech. Do you think one would hold up better than the other? And which seemed lighter? Thank you.
@wilm0r Hi. I've recently returned from a 3 day camping trip and the panniers performed well. The only thing I would say is don't over fill as the securing hooks that lock the rolled material struggle to sit in position. Very pleased with the look and the performance. Thread lock for the pannier frame is a must with the TT.
Great review again. I have Touratech racks so I doubt they'd work on my T66. Running some older Wolfman bags but the bigger capacity of the Shads would be great. Also what type of seat cover is that? A link would be appreciated!
i'm waiting on mine, i will be installing them on a 3P system, looking for the lightest setup that i could use with pasanger, they cost 350 euros here, and they weight 3.1Kg per side, i have seen some of the mosko moto and similar, a lot better in quality, and in price, but also twice as heavy...
Anti-theft is more about keeping honest people honest and proving intent. The locks meaning someone has to put effort into grabbing my stuff making their intentions to steal undeniable.

good review! thanks
Price/performance is realy good, maybe better than a 7/10. Have them on moto guzzi v85tt centenario and they do the job great.
FYI these work fine with the SHAD 3P mount system.

Hi, one quick questions as you are a owner of TR40, it fits a Helmet inside?

This reminds me of when Garth was dressed in all that Reebok stuff
Ian, Always a fair review . I will stay with my Lone Rider. I love those bags. I have tried a few different brands in the past and i like L.R. the best
Hi iain, the bags look cool, I use hard luggage because if I go camping it doubles up as tent furniture like a bedside table or a seat
Great review! I never heard of that brand , that's what makes your channel stand out!!!
No brand left behind ✌️
Shad is imo one of two biggest brands for motorcycle luggage in Europe (the other is Givi). Basically everyone I know has bags from Shad or Givi.
Thanks Ian, good informative review. I think I will be going with the Mosko Moto ones though.

Looks like this is a direct competitor to Hepco & Becker's Tuareg line. Prices are comparable and both offer soft and hard luggage compatibility.
For me no negatives, i think i will go for them soon
shad is great!, prices are spot on usually

Are those net seat covers effective?

Thank you for the in depth review Ian. I now use these on my moto guzzi v85tt. Great product, great review 👍
Hi Mark, I'm also thinking about getting these for my TT. Anything I should know, anything you think is worth mentioning?

Great review. What cover did you get for the seat?
Thanks for putting in the effort on these reviews!
What size seat cover fits the Tuareg?

When is the vstrom 1050 the scheduled for?

Would be great if you could do a review of kriega gear. Their overland s luggage looks really good, flexible add-ons.
hi I have a question... Is it possible to know the width and height of the suitcase attachment in cm?
I like your input on gear and panniers..but could you do a video on boots?
Ian
Good review. Question, will the panniers stay on in the unlocked position or do you have to lock them to ride. My rider mannequin wants to know...
You have to lock the system to ride. The key can't be pulled out when unlocked.
Hey.if you drive 80%asphalt and 20% cravel roads witch is better? 2016 africa twin or 2019 triumph tiger explorer xrt?
They look good quality.
This bag fit with monokey rack or only on shad rack?

Dont these Shad Terra bags need the 4P system?
@@geekstar2937 they are also compatible with 3p
@@MotorDanko are you sure? I about to order them and don't want to make mistake, but 3p is cheaper so I'd probably get those if compatible. Thx
@@geekstar2937 I'm sure, I had the 4p on my ktm and 3p on my benelli, they are backwards compatible
