    Should have asked the dolphins for a tow back in. Have there been any instances of those beauties being hit by a hydrofoil? That would be a big concern for me but perhaps they are more aware of their surroundings than I'm imaganing.

      I doubt it, they are usually out of our way. I think they have it pretty well figured out with the sonar action!

    Please can you advise how you managed to fit the lift foil to the slingshot mast? I have the same foil and would like that option to use my shorter slingshot masts.
    Thanks

    Bound to happen in lighter winds- good DEMO. Just curious- if a tangled lines on hydrofoil (s&^t is happening) occurred in higher rising winds around the mast and cannot wrap lines in. What is maybe best option?

    How would you do a self rescue, with a foilkite instead of a inflatable?

  • @pixeldrew
    @pixeldrew 7 років тому

    Easier way to keep connected is after wrapping the bar and lines, disconnect the leash and connect it to the kite pump leash point. You don't need to use your leg to hold down the kite then and you can continue to swim the kite in.

    What do you do if you have boards without volume like cabrinha agent or liquid force with low volume which is not possible sit on ? Thanks guys

      You will have to do it the same way it will just be really awkward. Luckily, the best boards for light winds have displacement so hopefully you'll be out on something that will be easier to self rescue in no winds.

    Nice video always good to make videos about safety.
    But hydro foiling with a 17m inflatable kite kinda defeat the purpose of hydro foiling which is for me be able to ride with small kites all the time.

      Great point! For us it is always fun to find the edge...we figured there is no worse self rescue than a 17m inflatable in no wind on a hydrofoil. Thanks for the comment!

    Hi there is the turbine 17 a good kite for foiling would the 15 be better ? what do you think is the best inflatable kite for foiling as low wind as possible ?

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  7 років тому

      The 15m Turbine is better for foiling for sure compared to the 17m...There is no comparison between the Turbine and Cabrinha Apollo for light wind foiling. The Apollo is so high aspect and so efficient that it will out preform ANY inflatable kite in light winds which make it perfect for Hydrofoiling. The big trade-off is water relaunch with the Apollo is challenging compared to lower aspect kites with rounded Leading edges like the turbine. Hope that helps. We have the Turbines 9m, 11m, 13m, 15m, 17m, 19m in stock as well as all sizes of the Apollo. I'd suggest a 14m Apollo for super light winds. 281-508-6485 let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

      Dolphins for sure, but a whale would be more exciting. We don't have any whales here in Texas that I know about.

    How realistic is it to hydrofoil with a 17m Turbine?

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  5 років тому +1

      Depends on what you're into. If you're riding a very slow foil like the Moses Tortuga, slingshot Infinity 84, etc then you have very little relative wind while riding so you actually need a fairly big kite to keep it moving. If you're on a fast foil like most riders you will never use anything that big. Another factor is if you're new to foiling you'll be spending little time on the foil and more riding with the board on the surface of the water. This is much less efficient and you use a lot more power for sure. When we teach foiling classes on slow foils in very light winds we have to put students on large kites because they need a lot of pull at first. Thanks for the comment.

      Thanks for quick reply. I’m just a beginner on my Shinn Jackson and P foil. Third session today and had some great runs on the foil. I think I’d class my foil as slow and I can see what you mean about lack of apparent wind. I’m 110kg so not a light weight, only asked as the turbine flies so well in the light winds I thought it would be worth a try at some point when wind is 10knots or less.

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  5 років тому +1

      @@simonburch8762 the P-foil is a slow kite foil but not a slow foil...the foils I mentioned above are all slow surf foils which have riding speeds around 4-6mph. Relative wind is only an issue under 8mph or so riding speed. You'll easily be at 10-15mph on that P-foil. The smaller Turbines are awesome on the foil...specifically the 11m-13m size. I wouldn't go larger than that unless you're on a REALLY slow foil. I have a few of these smaller turbines still in stock so let me know if you're interested.

      Houston Kiteboarding thanks for the offer, but if I own any more Slingshot kites, I could open my own dealership. Got on well with my Rally’s so far, think I will stick with them for now.
