    I use a very special guitar technique. To pull it off, place your guitar on a stand and leave it there for 8 years.

      This trick can only be truly mastered when you have 30+ years under your belt and you've learned nearly everything there's to know. Then and only then can it be TRULY mastered correctly💯

    If anyone is interested in the science of the remote thing : Guitar pickups are essentially coils of wire that generate an electrical signal when they detect changes in a magnetic field. Infrared signals from a TV remote can emit electromagnetic interference, which can induce a small electrical current in the pickup's coil which will then generate a sound.
    Since remotes use different frequencies for different brands/models and even what type of action is being taken (volumes, channels, menus, etc) it will generate different sounds
    Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

      if you place certain areas of a cell phone over the pickups, you can listen to the circuitry inside the phone.

    • @BrekMartin
      @BrekMartin 3 дні тому +1

      That’s not what’s happening. The IR radiation has no interaction with the pickup at all. A transistor, either external, or behind a microcontroller pin emits an RF pulse of infinite harmonics due to the fast rising edge of its signal transitions. That’s happening over and over, as the IR is oscillating at 38kHz, and that modulated signal is switched on & off to encode unique data. Other processes in the microcontroller, and its clock source are emitting RF as well as a consequence of running firmware.

    I've been doing this since the early 90s with the remote...each IR blaster has a unique speed/pitch/gain. use a programmable universal remote like a logitech harmony and program in any remote you want, as it's essentially an emulator for all different remotes, you only need one harmony remote instead of a box full of old remote controls.
    bonus - try soldering a guitar jack to the leads attached to the tape head of a walkman or other cassette tape player, and run the output as usual, instant fuzz pedal, the more controls the better.

It produces some amazing sounds and completely different tones/notes, naturally. Producing completely different octaves, even on an 'Acoustic Guitar'. I've used bits of plastic pipe, glass pipe, and even metal pipe for slides in the past. :)

    I actually learned all of these on my own (except the whammy ones as I sadly don't have one). It took me forever to figure out 'Nut Bending' is a real thing, and was also used in songs like Iron Man, and can also be used to make a whale sound, like 'Scream' by Avenged Sevenfold or Gary Hoey did a few times. You can also do 'Bridge Bending' which gives the same sound but a little easier to do and reach. That I've found no one else doing.
    Also, the noises can be done with lots of things. I play a lot of Tom Morello stuff with a remote for a coloured light bulb. It also works for playing as a slide and doing the Tractor Beam solo for 'Mercy' by Joe Perry Project. Sounds identical too. There was even one time I turned the song on and played it on real guitar at the same time. Couldn't tell the difference, really.

    XD gotta love how Stevie demonstrates the correct way to hold a pick, then immediately changes his grip to play the next riff. Just goes to show you folks, even great guitarists don't always play the "proper" way. Heck, some of the greatest guitarists would probably not be as great if they played using "proper" technique rather that what they just figured out on their own.

    That's literally freaking awesome! I can't wait to try some of these out next time I jam with my friends. I especially liked the computer mouse.

    It's funny to see others know about the remote trick. I discovered it 30 years ago by accident and for awhile I thought I was the only one that knew it did that...until some years later I saw another guitarist on TV use a remote on their guitar as an effect.😆

    Brad Gillis from Night Ranger did the tapping the string onto the pickup back in the early 80s. But he did it while doing a dive bomb with the bar.

    You should do some samplings of the remote ones, sounds pretty good for a poor man's beat machine.
