Hi so my wife s transmission went out in her car due to no transmission fluid apparently there was a leak. She has a 2011 chevy malibu LS without flex fuel. We found transmissions for the 2011 but they all start around $1000 and they all pretty much have close to or over 100k miles on them. The reason this is a concern is because her car just went over 50k miles this year we bought it at like 35k miles a few years back. Upon searching the internet I found that the 2012 chevy malibu of the same exact model and specs cost alot less by the couple of hundreds. Specifically the 2.4l which is the same as our and even the codes AOD / Mh8 are the same. I called a auto recycler whom I ve purchased an engine from before and they said it would fit but with my knowledge of things I m curious as to if there would be any issues with the electrical computer components accepting the newer year transmission. This purchase is gonna cost me at least $800 so I m reaching out to see if this is a viable option or should I just cough up the extra $200-300+ to make sure it will work in the car. Once again I m trying to see if I can put a 2012 chevy malibu LS without flex fuel 2.4l AOD mh8 transmission in a 2011 chevy malibu Ls without flex fuel 2.4l AOD mh8 exact same model and would there be any issues with the electrical or computer systems?
