Scroll Saw Project - 80 Year Old Superman Comic Book
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- I used all natural wood colors. No paint, dye, or stain was used to make this picture. This is a 1940 Superman comic book cover. The moment I saw it I knew I had to turn it into scroll saw art.

•• About Newton Makes Art••
I’m Billy and I make fun things. This channel is devoted to making scroll saw art. I also have my main channel that shows how to build all kinds of cool stuff. Sometimes, it’s something I need like tool storage ideas. Other times it’s silly or nerdy stuff that I want to build. If you want to get ideas for making stuff, or just want to watch something entertaining then make sure you subscribe.

I have a scroll saw. I wish I spent more time on it because you can make some beautiful things. My problem is after a minute of using it I cant see the blade anymore haha.
A lot of people, maybe most, use a lighted magnifying glass.
Another scroll saw masterpiece, Billy. It looks great! I envy your patience making these works of art (works of Billy, not Art?)
Bill
This one tested every ounce of that patience. So many little pieces! Halfway through I was questioning the project but it came together in the end.
When you put holly by another color wood and sand doesn’t the color bleed into the holly? How did you stop that?
You're absolutely right about the bleeding. I sand the holly last and wipe it with mineral spirits to combat it.
Nice work man, I'd love to get in scroll sawing like this but lack the knowledge on blade sizes and things like that. I should get a book! Thanks!
Maybe check out my video on scroll saw blades. I did a shootout comparing many of them. Perhaps I'll make more tips like that.
I don't know why I haven't done the zero clearance for the scroll saw. Do you hold it down with double sized tape.
No, if I use anything I'll use the shop vac. The normal suction from the dust collection keeps it in place.
@@NewtonMakesArt thanks
Don't use the vacuum I will have to give it a try.
Any chance you can tell us where you purchase your exotic like holly and lignin V???
I pick up most of the exotics at my local Woodcraft. I get holy from random online sellers. It takes a lot of shopping around.
What’s next can’t wait ! Do not get left behind = P R O M O S M!!
Scroll saw projects are just out dated. Try some other prijects you have lots of talent
Things you love are never outdated. And I won't listen to anyone who tries to convince me to avoid my passions.
Don't like it don't watch don't subscribe he doesn't sell them there kept for him as a hobby why don't u take one your hobbies and give it up.
While laser certainly does it faster, I actually just bought a scroll saw this year. Making something much more hands on is very cathartic for me. I want to tackle a project like this eventually
