About German cars having 8-9 speed transmissions, people keep forgetting that these were built to CRUISE at 155 mph. You NEED 2-3 overdrive gears to do that efficiently and luxuriously. 6 close ratio gears for acceleration and response plus 2-3 overdrive gears for cruising is actually smart. Stop acting like the world has 50 mph speed limits on highways, Americans.
That is true. In my Saab (please don't laugh it is pretty good) in Arizona, cruising at over 90 MPH gets kind of buzzy. For cruising over 90 MPH, you want a super overdrive. Likely the top 1-2 gears will not be used in the USA because we do not cruise at 120+ MPH.

Am i the only one that thinks mercedes should work on their exterior design? The interior of most modern day mercs are Amazing, but the exterior, to me, seems to "meh" compared to the interior...
Understated luxury, plus they have the AMG models which are more aggressive. I actually like the new look especially the tail lights which flow evenly with the lines and curvature of the car. And the tech though!
I hate that, but for some reason it seems every manufacturer wants to do that. Most new Mercedes and BMWs have those ugly non integrated cheap looking tablet screens.
+E34Benzin you can't compare the screen of the mercedes s class and the bmw's screen .. Mercedes is waaaaay better in terms of interior and entertainment
Everybody knows that Mercedes goes to top and then follow bmw and audi in german manufacturing. The problem is that a " true " mercedes benz will cost a lot more because everybody knows that cheap cars like the A class is not a true MB especially when made outside germany. You still get that premium german manufacturing from all BMW cars. In my opinion answering the videos question
xphobus nope it's not timeless, it was good when it came out a for a few years or so but now it really looks out a dated, it's airvents even look like they belong in a Honda or Toyota, the whole dash is outdated and old. timeless is not an excuse for what is a lazy design team, when in fact we know they can do better
I think the American market has an obscured perspective of necessary engine power. In Germany for example, the country with the unrestricted Autobahn, the average horsepower of all the cars in the country is 140. With 140hp you can get to 125mph quite easily on the highway. It seems Americans view cars with anything less than 200hp as slow? Obviously this is because of the much lower cost of fuel in America allowing for cars to have more powerful engines despite using more fuel. Do you really need a lot of power on an interstate to reach 70mph?
Yeh there does seem to be a strong positive correlation between the two! 290 nice, what's the 0-60 5-6 seconds? I haven't driven anything more than 150hp so I can't talk. But I had a lot of fun in a 500 fiat Abarth.
True True....I like the interior but there is 1 thing and this is a minor nitpick, the air vent on the passenger side throws the dashboard design off a little to me... In the S-class it's ok because it's a wider car but here I'm not feeling it... That's just a opinion and not a deal breaker tho, the rest is just fine.
+David Van yeah, they use organic materials such as real hide for the leather and real wood of many different types. Don't know if you've seen the "how it's made" videos but they are pretty good 🚙
I agree, practically. Hp is so overdone these days. I have driven an old VW beetle, with all of 50 hp, and it keeps up quite well with traffic. That being said, having a 4 cylinder engine on my luxury sedan would bum me out every time I was in it. I drive a v6 Honda Accord, and the added refinement, smoothness, and speed over the i4 is totally worth it. ( my other car is a Chevy suburban, with a v8, and makes maybe 30 more horsepower than mb's turbo 4). It begs the question if the other four cylinders are really necessary.
The S class pioneers this technology and then it trickles down to lower model ranges over time. Most likely Mercedes will release a refreshed S class soon that employs even more tech that is strictly exclusive to the S class (since it was really the first car to use the new styling ques that Mercedes now uses on almost all cars).
Although the 4cyl engine may not be a "Mercedes-standard", it's definitely not a slouch. It can get to 60 in around 6.2 seconds which isn't exactly slow. It's plenty quick for non-enthusiasts who want a smooth and engaging drive with reasonable fuel mileage. But it will be interesting to see what MB brings to the table with their more powerful offerings.
I imagine, E300 with s2k engine screaming like a little bitch at every green light to 3-4k rpm with that gutless engine trying to carry this heavy vehicle in less than 10s lol. better take a bus instead lol
+Leonard Nedosekov ^ ride quality would suck with that engine, it would not pull as hard as the one it has right now, and ot would get worse fuel economy, plus if a brand like benz started using engines from older model hondas....hopefullu you get the idea now
+Dukiny Gaming Where I live, people didn't even know how to react to a blinking red light at a traffic intersection (It's a regular traffic light, but I'm assuming there was an accident or a power outage of some sort). They just went around the light to avoid having to deal with it. I seriously wonder how some people got their licenses.
I really hate it when people keep ranting about the 4-cylinder engine in the new E-Class (or other luxury car products). Let's be realistic here for a second - it's a powerful engine which is more than good enough for realistic everyday driving. The car is quick and the fuel economy is good (car testers always drive the sh*t out of cars and then whine like little babies about the "poor fuel economy"...). Fuel economy isn't an exact science and is dependent on external factors such as tire friction, air temperature (thickness of the air at the time of day, altitude etc.) and of course the driving style of the person behind the wheel. What I like about Mercedes is that they give their customers something called a CHOICE. Clients can select an E-Class model which best suits their needs. For most people, the 4-cylinder E-Class will be an appealing package combining good performance with good gas mileage and good refinement. If you need more power or don't like 4-cylinders, then stay tuned for the new inline-6 engines, the V8 and whatever AMG will churn out. CHOICE - it's a wonderful thing, and Mercedes (as well as BMW and Audi) offer their clients a wide range of engine choices (not to mention the ability to individualize your car with the features that you want/need etc.). I wouldn't go for the gasoline 4-cylinder E-Class - I'd go for the 4-cylinder diesel E220d, because I love how it combines great performance with superb fuel economy! That would be my personal CHOICE and I am glad that Mercedes' offers so many engine choices for their products! That makes cars appealing to a wide variety of customers. A 4-cylinder luxury car has a right to exist just like a 6- or 8- or 10- or 12-cylinder or a fantasy V24 with 24 turbos does! CHOICE - give your clients a choice and you spread the appeal of your product. Lastly, let's not forget that true luxury is whatever makes the customer happy. Would I have a smile on my face and feel happy if someone gave me an E220d? Hell yes! What about an E-Class AMG? Well, not really. It may be super fast and all that, but one of my priorities is gas mileage, so for me an E220d is the E-Class that I would lust after.
When you drove in the S class, there was basically no road noise. It seems like the E class had a little bit of road noise, so it seems the E class is a ltitle bit louder. What do you think?
While he is bitching about how slow the engine is, it honestly not that bad. The 2 liter 4 banger still reaches 60 in 6.3 seconds, which is about the same as the accord V6. For your average driver this car is quick. Lastly, this engine is still a lot better than the base engines that you get in other markets. I agree having a 3 liter twin turbo 6 is better, I still feel you are being a little annoying about how the engine is too small. Also just to let you know that the 528i employs a 2.0 liter turbo 4 banger.
+Zoraver Singh agreed. Put a tune on the E300 and you're at 280-300 hp instantly. Would be more than enough power. Also it would be very torquey. +Lancer guy BS 108 hp will not take you to 60 mph in 6 seconds. Maybe 60 kph though.
I like how americans think 240 hp isn't enough in a car like this. Maybe is just the high demand of the market, because in europe we get the e200 for example. This engine produces 184 hp. The e200 is because of it's much lower gas mileage way more popular here, it's even the best selling petrol engine for the e-class in europe. While it may be 0.5 seconds slower to 60, it's stil a much better alternitive in my opinion.
1:27 Dude, that car is like 60 000 dollars, at least, I think it's what we should expect for that amount I always wondered why we cannot get an S class into a small car, why if I want luxury I have to drive a 100 000 dollars 6 m long car? why they never make a small car like a Golf with an incredible interior ?maybe some people love luxury but hate big cars. Maybe I like luxury but I don't want to pay tax for a 6 l engine, why can't I have luxury with a small engine? this dude, seems upset about the 2 l engine, WTF has that got to do with anything? 2 l engine is a powerful engine, why you need a 12l on a car? you want to use it to pull 300 m long ships trough the Panama Canal? the horrible tastes most people have, make companies create and sell crazy useless ideas just because you idiots buy them. My idea of a car, is luxury inside, different sizes, from smart to s class, safe and very durable, if I pay 50 000 for a stupid car that does one thing only and that is go from A to B, at least make it work for 30 years without any problems... no I pay 100 000 for an S class and after 4 years I have to already invest 5000 into it ....I don't know how you guys see life and why you buy those stupid cars but damn... these billionaires that produce the shit we see on the streets every day, have you on their finger tips... they fooled you all
only in America this engine is regarded as an economy engine! most of people are driving autos with 100-150 hp and do you say that 240 hp is not enough? do you live and drive in a race circuit every day? that would be awkward....;)
Very good review, but i think some of the technology could have been highlighted a bit more. I think that you would have enjoyed the car even more if it had been higher spec. This particular example didn't have the double screen, cooled seats and a few others. The basic car is good but i think to really get the best out of it, high specification is a must. Mercedes and other premium manufacturers are always quite stingy with standard equipment. In terms of engines, the choice seems very poor on both sides of the Atlantic. Here in Britain, you can't even get a petrol engine at launch! The overwhelming majority of buyers in Europe will end up with the e220d (2.0l 4 cylinder diesel engine) because it will be dirt cheap to run. Personally I'd go for the 3.0 V6 diesel for the extra refinement and power. The 220d starts at just under £36k here which is almost £10k more than the W211 was a decade ago. In order to get a W213 exactly how you wanted it ( both screens, sunroof, air suspension, decent engine, big wheels etc) you'll spend a fortune.
some 3 years ago I took a passenger ride in brand new S class. It had 2 litre diesel engine complemented with hybrid. Absolutely ace combination. Quiet, cultivated, powerful and extremely economical. That powertrain in C class would be mind blowing!
NO. Hood ornament should only be on the FLAGSHIP cars, S CLAA, Bentley, Rolls, The REST of you guys get the generic FLAT ornament on the grill. Leave hood ornament to us rich folk
While I think it is up to the individual, but one can certainly make a 4 banger sound quite well. While Mercedes is a luxury vehicle, they could open up the exhaust and make a very beautiful note for this. Just an opinion, akroprovich will already be designing exhaust soon.
Sorry brand is good for few people and neighbors but 4 me with a limited budget of $60G go to Hyundai and take a 5.0 genesis 420 Hp with 10 years of guarantees and free service .4 me a $60g car need to be balance in tech and power. I don t want $60 g brand and go to 60 mph in 7sec.I know MBenz is MBenz but $60g is $60g.
Very well said. You can't go wrong with a Genesis. I also saw that one year old Kia K900s are incredibly cheap (under 40k) and that would be a class above.
I didnt know the new e-class is available without the interactive Display on your speedometer. This is definetely a cool Feature too. You should try it.
+Carl Johnson the a class is a mediocre car it's nothing special I would say get a Audi A3 it's a far better car and the quality is brilliant it's the equivalent to a Audi A6 that's the best thing about Audi all cars have high standards and the new one just came out the Mercedes is full of cheap plastics, the 1 series is also a option but I would get a A3
Lot of hate over the engine. Sounds like a great car and great engine choice for people who commute really far each day. People who want all the luxury but don't like wasting money on gas
My biggest issue is not the engine, though! It is the cars face! It looks good, but it looks something made for women; for a female boss kind of personality or a fashion designer. Even in black with a manly dark-wooden interior, the girliness just doesn't go away from this car.
Sebastien Favelus It hurts me to say this, but I think BMW and Audi won this years better German Sedan run. However, the choice for me will always be a Jaag if I ever go with this type of vehicles.
Wow, my father had a 44hp Beetle and crossed the highest Alpine passes with the family, lots of luggage and a heavy trailer(trailer without brakes!). Now over 200 hp is not adequate anymore....
I'm wondering where MB is going with their model range from the design point of view and I wondered the same thing as this video title suggest - especially with the S63 Coupe, when you can't really tell it apart from the C variant - when you're spending that difference, you would want the car to look substantially different too? As a long time MB owner, including several S Class and Coupes, I love these cars but would like to see some more differentiation between the (vastly expanding and confusing) current model range.... (by the way, since when is 240hp of no use!!?? lol ) Cheers!
Great review & video, thank you. Honestly, I prefer the S class. If I was to purchase a Mercedes luxury sedan, I would get the C class, and if I have more money to spend, the S class. I don't see the point of this model segment anymore because they have upped the spec in the C segment so well that those cars are great too. This car seems like a generic slap-together of C class spec with some S class tech. Packaged in a cheaper set up. Not impressed.
My parents lease a 2014 W222 S class. Love the car, great quality and the ride is amazing. In 2019, their lease is up. At that point, I will have my own car, and they will not need as much space as they do now. We have two options: Facelifted W222 S550 with all the new features from this E class and more, or the new E63S with 603hp. Most likely the S class will be their choice, but it's fun to think of the options we have.
Mercedes even makes crashes comfy
Have you been in one?
But it makes you cringe if you crash
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
That made my day 😂
lol
One of the best e class videos I've seen
I agree, the way Parker described this car was very detailed and flawless.
Try "Autogefuhl" ;)
if only he showed the automatic parking.
The E class and S class look so similar now. E class definitely look younger and more sporty.
I've got to tell you, this guy addresses certain substantive issues that other reviewers don't. I've watched at least five reviews on cars and he covers everything relevant, and does it in a concise way. Very good!
Chris Sorreda even we Americans tend not to cruise at posted speed limits.
Chris Sorreda ON POINT!

When you see an iPhone you instantly know it's one. Same thing with Merc, and it's great for their sedan lineup imo
I agree, they are making all there cars look the same now, I hate it.
Thank god they didnt just glue on a 35 dollar tablet on dash
People give the "glues on tablet" so much hate. I like it. It makes it more prominent.
+Will Grider I love them, gives the infotainment area a distinct look.
+gmoneybags01 Exactly.
And this is why Mercedes is better than BMW. BMW has the same old interior and same old look. No innovation whatsoever.
I agree BMW is better than mercedes. the quality and feel i saw in the new Alpina B7 was phenomenal. wish i was rich lol was so elegant and beautiful
Bmw design is timeless , something mercedes lost after the w124
You also get the 90s old and boring I6
Everybody knows that Mercedes goes to top and then follow bmw and audi in german manufacturing.

i'd love to have a 6.5 v12 lamborghini aventador sv with 700 hp
The production on this channel is getting better by the day, keep up the awesome work Parker and Eddie.
Possibly the most beautiful interior available on a production automobile today.
This review surprised me for how well it was done and you were very thorough, really well done Parker.
I can plan it: Parker will buy an E63 after the lease on the S-Class is over
Nah he'll probably get the new S550
I bet he'll get the next gen M5
he'll get iPhone 7!
how did u knowwwww ?????? the dark lord approaches

Interior rivals the Bentley is a stretch...
Not really it wouldnt match a bentley with a lot of options but a basemodel isnt as good as you would expect

this is the best edited and professional video of yours! It's great!
Large, powerful engines in luxury sedans don't interest me at all. I'd buy one for extreme comfort, not to race the thing
Video angles on point this video! Great Work!
why do you need a billion horsepower in a luxury car?
Tu Chenz because they are heavy. there’s reasons for some luxury car come standard with v12

also the e400 cost only 2500 more dollars if it's that big of a deal.
Yeah all these I4 twin scroll turbo engines are pretty quick nowadays. Even the N20 on the 328i is just as quick as the engine in the E300.

Most informative video on the new E-Class and your candor is much appreciated.

Dude, that car is like 60 000 dollars, at least, I think it's what we should expect for that amount
I always wondered why we cannot get an S class into a small car, why if I want luxury I have to drive a 100 000 dollars 6 m long car? why they never make a small car like a Golf with an incredible interior ?maybe some people love luxury but hate big cars. My idea of a car, is luxury inside, different sizes, from smart to s class, safe and very durable, if I pay 50 000 for a stupid car that does one thing only and that is go from A to B, at least make it work for 30 years without any problems... no I pay 100 000 for an S class and after 4 years I have to already invest 5000 into it ....I don't know how you guys see life and why you buy those stupid cars but damn... these billionaires that produce the shit we see on the streets every day, have you on their finger tips... they fooled you all
Can you tell me exactly the name of the model that you saying in 4:49 Performance package 3 with one enormous glass?
only in America this engine is regarded as an economy engine! most of people are driving autos with 100-150 hp and do you say that 240 hp is not enough? do you live and drive in a race circuit every day? that would be awkward....;)
A car that heavy shouldn't have anything less than 400hp IMO
yes but a car should not be "that" heavy ;) and should have at least 1001 hp...
The car needs to be heavy, otherwise the ride quality would suffer
Warp Drive M business man have to take the tollway 24/7 no 250 power is gonna make it wtf
9-speed-transmissions are of course important but only for countries like Germany where you can Drive 250kph
7:10 still waiting for puberty to kick in, hang in there buddy it'll come sooner or later
love the pan shot and the music, great job
In order to get a W213 exactly how you wanted it ( both screens, sunroof, air suspension, decent engine, big wheels etc) you'll spend a fortune.
to be honest your video become better and better i like it keep it up man!
the old one just looks so much better
I agree
100% true
exactly what I was thinking.
correct
I agree. New one isn't horrible, but why mess with something that worked?
One of the best reviewers.
well it looks better than the s class for sure imo
Definitely no.
umm no
Its just shorter and the rear end isn't as good. So...
"imo"
This looks like the perfect car to get groceries in on a Sunday afternoon, and honestly for the price, I'm kinda ok with that
when's the e63 out?
2017
Doesn't matter. You're broke as a joke.
Fobidir Wrong. I retired at 40 and have 3 luxury cars to choose from each day. Sorry. The truth hurts...
some 3 years ago I took a passenger ride in brand new S class. It had 2 litre diesel engine complemented with hybrid. Absolutely ace combination. Quiet, cultivated, powerful and extremely economical. That powertrain in C class would be mind blowing!
Interior is really great, BMW, Audi, Lexus look much worse
I own an E class. Nothing beats an S-class.
ughh, sux that so many c-class and e-class cars are equipped with the star in the grille. the traditional stand-up star on the bonnet looks better....
There’s a luxury option which has the traditional stand-up star and there’s a sports option that puts the star in the grill.
I can't wait to see the new E450, 550, or ultimately the new E63 with even nicer interiors.
Is the E-Class better then the 5 Series?
no
Talking about the phone placement, my Holden does it perfectly. Has an amazing spot to put my phone
E63 is little too expensive for most customers, but I think E43 is perfectly choice for E series.
Agreed. Hood ornament is an under appreciated feature.
NO. Hood ornament should only be on the FLAGSHIP cars, S CLAA, Bentley, Rolls, The REST of you guys get the generic FLAT ornament on the grill. Leave hood ornament to us rich folk
S CLASS not SCLAA
Frank Assnot
It used to be the other way around with the base models getting the hood ornament and the classier models getting snubbed.
I would rather buy a Mercedes Benz C coupe.
I would wait for the E Coupe
S63 Cabriolet.
+Alexander Sell fucker I was about to say that
nah
W204 C63 AMG for me.
While I think it is up to the individual, but one can certainly make a 4 banger sound quite well. While Mercedes is a luxury vehicle, they could open up the exhaust and make a very beautiful note for this. Just an opinion, akroprovich will already be designing exhaust soon.
not a big fan of the body styling, i'd have to see the AMG version :)
Ugly car
I'll stick to 560 SEC with AMG monoblock deep dish wheels thank you very much
Hi loved your videos, 1 video a day is good, please keep it up!
Those Hyundais depreciate like bricks though.....
+Andrew Yang um every car in this segment depreciate s terribly
+Nathan Carter No..... no car depreciates 40 percent in the first year...... unless if you are talking about a Genesis. Just search it up
lool if 60g is 60g then I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on a fucking pile of shit Hyundai.
Those seats looks comfortable as fuck
The 2016 Mercedes S63 should never be compared to an e class.
It never was
He has an s550, not an s63, nitwit.
Yes it was. Read the title of the video. An S63 is an S-class, therefor it's being compared.
u stupid fuck the brabus rocket is also an S class
I didnt know the new e-class is available without the interactive Display on your speedometer. This is definetely a cool Feature too. You should try it.
Voice crack 7:10
You look like a 10 year old kid so your voice has obviously not changed
Timothy Alexander thats my 3 year old but ok
6:20 you are wrong Parker the a45 amg had one of the best car sounds ever ;)
with 4 cylinder engine
Yeah but that turbo made waaaay more boost and AMG tunes their exhaust to be loud af
Does anyone think this is a women's car ?
A bit, yes.
A bit.
depends what color. all black this looks mean af
I'd say its Unisex :))
Granny's...
Good video keep up the good work
Make a Video About the A-Class.
Yo CJ i dont think they sell the A class in the US homie
I saw some ballas with the new A-Class
+Novac Emil I live in Dubai Homie, where all the ballers at, and I'm thinking about getting the A Class
+Carl Johnson the pakistani and indians that do slave labour in the UAE would love to get an A class so you shouldnt be ashamed
Not many people recognize that. I know exactly what you mean, though! I feel the same with a Lexus ES and certain SUV models.
Now they officially have no style. C, E, and S class look totally the same
I mean the cars look nice, but they are just too similar. And WTF, E300 but has a 2 liter engine.
That is exactly why the S-coupe model is out there.
Edgars Ļebedevs What do you mean about the 2 liter engine?
I'm wondering where MB is going with their model range from the design point of view and I wondered the same thing as this video title suggest - especially with the S63 Coupe, when you can't really tell it apart from the C variant - when you're spending that difference, you would want the car to look substantially different too? As a long time MB owner, including several S Class and Coupes, I love these cars but would like to see some more differentiation between the (vastly expanding and confusing) current model range.... (by the way, since when is 240hp of no use!!?? lol ) Cheers!
I keep my awesome W116, those where real Mercedes, now there are ugly plastic racer
+Theodore Marakas There are ok but not in the same class like a W116, even the W 126 or the W 123 is still a real Mercedes, after those bye bye
Also honorable mention for the W140 S-Class. Just shy of 200k mine still runs and rides like new with nothing but routine maintenance items.
+Christian Sanden Exactly!
Only thing it's missing is the wood grain wheel, then it's perfect 👌
lol 4 cylinder? haha for $60,000??????????????? are they mad?
Alex Pana Welcome to Volvo XC90, you can get an 4 cylinder for $100K.
Every car in that class has gone to 4 cylinder.
Love this car! Gorgeous! The retro gauges are incredible. Needs a wicked engine and will be perfect! Only non American car I would own is the MB!
imo it's ugly... ;/
Great review! Very well done.
This kid's voice is so irritating!
You got me at that analog clock there!! I'm on my knees!
E43 AMG, new name for the E550 and I can't wait to see it either.
Finally, back to the reviews!😄😆👍👍👍👍
The analog dials are so much nicer than the digital one in my opinion :)
I can't believe how you like the exterior look..
You should test out the noise car makes when it crashes.
You have a superb presentation...
Able to cover the GLA 45 AMG ? Looking to buy one and there arent many in depth vids on it
My parents lease a 2014 W222 S class.
