It's powerful enough for your tastes, but I prefer something with a bit more muscle. I live close to the Rocky Mountains, and 200 hp isn't enough for spirited driving on mountain roads. Even my old Acura TL has 300 hp and super-handling all-wheel-drive, and it costs about half of what the C300 does.

I just bought the E300 6 mos ago and I’m in love with how the car drives! I’ve touched 130 mph easily on the highway and there is no need to even drive that fast, honestly…. IMO, the 4L engine performs just fine! Plus, the interior is flawless and easily an eye catcher! The Ambience lighting in the E and S class, sealed the deal! Have fun driving, w/ whatever you guys are in! & Safe travels!👏🏾

this engine put e class from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds..when 6 second became slow ..people who buy mercedes E class dont thing are to much interested to go to drag race or race tracks. if you add bigger engine them mass will go up and fuel economy down..for what ..milisecond better start
You don't only get the bmw i8 because it's a hybrid and while some people prefer having manuals he already has a mustang that is a manual so I don't see why he would need two manuals and also you get a i8 for its looks (I think it's the doors and the headlights that really makes the i8 so popular when driving around in public)
After driving a loaner 2017 e300 while my e55 was in the shop I agree with your review 100%. My 2400 mile loaner has the same rattling coming from the dash, but the car has some very nice features that would help me forget the tiny 4 cylinder engine.

Small note on engine choices, Fuel economy will ultimately depend upon weight, aerodynamics, and performance requirements. That's why I'll go with the displacement over supercharging, small engines will work overtime to compensate, and hence the insignificant mpg gains...
The 2012 e300 had a 3.5 liter V6 which was detuned to 252 hp but still had better sound and power. The 2012 e350 had the same engine but with 302 hp. My e350 feels quite punchy due to the fact there are no turbos. The V6 felt right for a 60k dollar car.
My dad has a 1985 Mercedes 230E saloon (or sedan) and the build quality in that is fantastic!!! Nothing rattles, and the 2.3 4 cylinder engine makes a very nice sound. So it's a shame that the new car suffers from those aspects negatively.
I drive the same car daily and I have zero issues. It’s fast enough to loose your license, I park it myself like any man would, I already have glasses so seeing the screen isn’t an issue, learning how to shift the weight like in Initial D would resolve the issue with handling in any car and I had Mercedes fix that damn rattle from the speaker grill a long time ago. I drive from the Bay Area to Bend Oregon and always have enough gas left on the single fill up to drive through the week there. That pretty much solved my complaint about the 2.0T under the hood. Reno and back with about half a tank left. It’s a highway car for sure.
This car was never designed to not have body roll, to have a good sounding engine, or to be fast. Its car targeted towards certain people that probably only care about luxury, space and comfort. All the performance stuff are in the upper range of the class
Just a few weeks ago, I picked up a 2018 E300 Sport and absolutely LOVE it! It's not my old 435xi Gran Coupe and that's fine. It's much larger and with that, I find that I prefer enjoying my drive now, instead of racing everyone on the road. Which I always loved doing! Haha! It's not the 2018 BMW 540xi, which I did test drive and out-powers my E300 Sport but my new car is awesome and is a major head-turner! Especially when I'm 45 but look 30 and wear my hat backwards. More often than not, I see old guys in their mid to late 60s with the E300 which is funny! My neighbor, who's a successful attorney (and 59 years old) is obsessed with my car vs. his 2018 Cadillac CT6. The E300 is classic, has a smooth ride, is attention-getting and has enough power you'll love. Again, don't turn to the E300 for speed or for it to be as aggressive as the BMW line but you'll LOVE how it's different. I've had a few BMWs and love my new Mercedes more than any car I've ever owned! Enjoy your ride, regardless of what you have! : )
1:22 The Horsepower and Torque isn't bad, it's not a Ferarri and i'm not expecting it to be, since High School I've been driving my mom's 2001 E320 Wagon she gave me, and to Teenage me it was definitely a fast car, not Ferarri fast, but fast enough to have some fun in, i'm thinking about upgrading to this car in the future as it has more Horses and Torque than my current E320 Wagon.

Now, I do agree with the engine being underpowered, and lack of pace, but considering this is meant for businessmen who like luxury (I know you mentioned they want to make it sportier, but this car will never be sporty), this is an amazing car. Yes, this car does have some body roll also, but not to the point where it's crazy. Keep in mind, this car isn't meant to be driven on a racetrack or anything crazy. For city driving, its ideally fine. Now, with what I disagree, the build quality on the car which I drove was excellent, there were no rattles, or any disturbing sound from the sound system, in fact it was some of the best speakers I have heard in a car (same goes for the S class). I blasted from trap to symphony, and it managed it perfectly. With parking pilot, that actually isn't their newest feature. I drive the CLS63 2016, and it can perpendicular park perfectly fine, and Mercedes has had this feature in all the 2016 models with Parktronic, so nothing new there. Overall, I think this car is great! I drove it for a good 100 some miles, and put it through different conditions, and managed pretty well.
6. You can't put your feet under the front seat while sitting in the back, that was possible in the predecessor W212. 7. The seats are harder than in its predecessor. 8. Back seats are less reclined than in its predecessor. 9. Trunk is smaller than in its predecessor. 10. The new sunroof is as half as expensive in production than in its predecessor because it's not even nearly as rigid and hard than before. 11. Black piano trim in the interior, no matter which wood you buy. I really prefer the W212 pre-facelift with 4 eyes-face and bonnet star.
I'm really curious, why in new versions of bmw and mercedes, the numbers model have doesn't show the engine transplant anymore? E300, is expected to have a 3 litre, but its not. why?
With two digital screens, how does it look in poor visibility? At night it will dim with your vehicle headlights, My car has two screens as well, so when it rains heavily in the morning, I turn on the headlights but have to adjust the centre screen brightness (or it'll default to very dim for night. Then I have to pump the instrument cluster brightness as well, otherwise I can't read the digital speedo as clear as I'd like. It can become annoying to adjust it time and time again. Outside of winter it's fine to leave both screens in auto to dim when the headlamps are on. But it's not something that you should bother with in a luxury car.
Could this be a loaner/tester beater, hence the squeaks and rattles? Hard to judge things like that if the car is constantly being thrashed by different people.
Picked one up a few days ago. -I still haven't really gotten the parking system to work. Not that I need it, but since I paid for it (as part of a package), that's kind of annoying. -I think the motor is just fine, I do hate the start/stop system that has to be disabled every time you start the car. It makes the car shudder pulling away from a stop. The motor itself is adequate, has enough torque to get out of its own way. On top of that, it certainly feels quicker than the E350 it directly replaces and I;d say that's really what matters. -Haven't noticed any creaks or rattles in mine, let's hope it stays that way. As far as its actual intended purpose, I'd say Mercedes Benz hit it out of the park (Not to mention the E43/63 will address at least two of your concerns). It will be interesting to see what BMW and Audi come out with in the next two years. This is a hard act to follow.
I started complaining about 4 cylinder engines in nice cars back in 2011 when CAFE standards started becoming a thing. I am really sad to see that this trend has continued. I have driven V8 sedans for the past 4 years and would really like to continue to do so because of the quiet and subtle power they provide. It is looking like I will have to start shopping in the 6 figure range to make that a reality soon.
@Vehicle Virgins check out the new 2017 Audi A4, im sure you'll be suprised by it. It's SOOOOO much better than this E300. Sure its a 4-cylinder engine with a turbocharge, but the tuning Audi did to it its just amazing. Quick acceleration, sexy sound, user friendly, great graphics on the screen, better camera quality, barley any to no barrel roll, Amazing handeling, not to mention the new Virtual Cock Pit, i could go on and on, but i would really love it if you could make a video of it.

now this is my third comment: at your 3rd video of this car you have addressed negatives in fully, after a few days of driving the machine. it is well known fact, that in order to truly understand a product such as a car, one has to travel with it at least a few days. what seemed to be one thing after 5 minutes of driving, translates into another after 500 miles or 2 days trip. the E class as good as it is, has drawbacks. you mentioned a few and I can supply 10 more. its competition is the new 5 series from BMW, and the CTS on its higher trim levels including the V sport variant with 420HP engine. the merc may be more classy in terms of looks and more soft suspensions for cruising, while the cady and bmw more sportive character. if you are 75 years old maybe the merc is the better choice, if you are a 20-50 YO male, probably the more sportive machines will do better for you.By the way, the quality of todays merc are no where near what it used to be 20 year ago. the quality went down together with their lower prices (they had to do it in order to stay competitive - they didn't have a choice).
Wow all those faults in a brand new E Class. I guess I would have to wait in on the E550 hopefully they refresh or renew the whole S550/63 to be more eye catching like their S550/63 Coupe
I love my 2019 W213 E300 much more than the precious W212 . The only complaint with the car is that the doors need more resistance when standing open. The detents are not strong enough by or weighted correctly, and on the slightest incline or in the slightest breeze, the door will shut on you! Never had this issue in 40 years of owning various Mercedes sedans, until now. All of those had much heavier doors too!
I think that always the first few years of a new car or generation will have flaws, as years go cars get better as new technology is introduced and car manufacturers learn from their mistakes. And as Parker said no car is perfect, and as I say nothing made by humans is perfect.

Regarding #1: I mean if you're trying to park the car wouldn't you be on the lookout for a parking spot? Plus you tell the car to choose the parking spot or not.... If it's barely introduced then it's not going to be perfect. Just like Distronic Plus wasn't perfect when they introduced it back then........

You underplayed the front speaker issue. It started happening recently on my 2013 audi S5 and it's so annoying. You can definitely hear it especially if you're OCD like me.
It makes me sad whenever I hear of a person using park assist. If cars keep going this way the next generation of people won't even know what a steering wheel is.
this is a regular car for regular people who dont care about power or sound they just want a nice luxury sedan, 270 hp is way over the economy car standard anyway, if you want power you could buy the same car with the e43 v6, or even the e63 v8 wich has truckloads of power and sound
In general, you shouldn't be relying on your car to park for you- I think these automatic parking features are overkill. The infotainment systems are pointless as well. That's why I prefer older cars, they didn't have any of that stuff, and they were fine without it. Plus, do you really trust all of these computers to be functional after 10 years? All of my electronics function correctly in my 2000 M5 and my 2000 540i, but that's because they have the combined complexity of a pocket calculator. I wish cars would just keep it simple and focus on the driving experience.
Made in USA doesn't help but also most people want gadgets now. They don't care so much about quality. I've driven and worked on almost all models from Benz since 1995. They use way more cheap plastic material now. They are getting more and more like American cars. At least the fit and finish is still perfect.
Well, you really should park the car your self most of the time. Perpendicular parking usually takes less than 3 seconds. Why would you want the car do it for you anyways?? Maybe for old people and woman, but for most drivers, it's really not necessary.

-I still haven't really gotten the parking system to work. Not that I need it, but since I paid for it (as part of a package), that's kind of annoying.
-I think the motor is just fine, I do hate the start/stop system that has to be disabled every time you start the car. It makes the car shudder pulling away from a stop. The motor itself is adequate, has enough torque to get out of its own way. On top of that, it certainly feels quicker than the E350 it directly replaces and I;d say that's really what matters.
-Haven't noticed any creaks or rattles in mine, let's hope it stays that way.
As far as its actual intended purpose, I'd say Mercedes Benz hit it out of the park (Not to mention the E43/63 will address at least two of your concerns). It will be interesting to see what BMW and Audi come out with in the next two years. This is a hard act to follow.
I started complaining about 4 cylinder engines in nice cars back in 2011 when CAFE standards started becoming a thing. I am really sad to see that this trend has continued. I have driven V8 sedans for the past 4 years and would really like to continue to do so because of the quiet and subtle power they provide. It is looking like I will have to start shopping in the 6 figure range to make that a reality soon.
@Vehicle Virgins check out the new 2017 Audi A4, im sure you'll be suprised by it. It's SOOOOO much better than this E300. Sure its a 4-cylinder engine with a turbocharge, but the tuning Audi did to it its just amazing. Quick acceleration, sexy sound, user friendly, great graphics on the screen, better camera quality, barley any to no barrel roll, Amazing handeling, not to mention the new Virtual Cock Pit, i could go on and on, but i would really love it if you could make a video of it.
For price of the car it should be flawless and have v8 twin turbo. Or a new tdi

now this is my third comment: at your 3rd video of this car you have addressed negatives in fully, after a few days of driving the machine. it is well known fact, that in order to truly understand a product such as a car, one has to travel with it at least a few days. what seemed to be one thing after 5 minutes of driving, translates into another after 500 miles or 2 days trip. the E class as good as it is, has drawbacks. you mentioned a few and I can supply 10 more. its competition is the new 5 series from BMW, and the CTS on its higher trim levels including the V sport variant with 420HP engine. the merc may be more classy in terms of looks and more soft suspensions for cruising, while the cady and bmw more sportive character. if you are 75 years old maybe the merc is the better choice, if you are a 20-50 YO male, probably the more sportive machines will do better for you.By the way, the quality of todays merc are no where near what it used to be 20 year ago. the quality went down together with their lower prices (they had to do it in order to stay competitive - they didn't have a choice).

From my experience I find that in Europe the parking systems work much, much better, though I've never seen E300's abilities here in Poland.
Would love to see you try a Panamera Turbo Diesel. 2.9-liter six-cylinder engine to blast out 300 horsepower and 480 pound-feet.

I love my 2019 W213 E300 much more than the precious W212 . The only complaint with the car is that the doors need more resistance when standing open. The detents are not strong enough by or weighted correctly, and on the slightest incline or in the slightest breeze, the door will shut on you! Never had this issue in 40 years of owning various Mercedes sedans, until now. All of those had much heavier doors too!

I think that always the first few years of a new car or generation will have flaws, as years go cars get better as new technology is introduced and car manufacturers learn from their mistakes. And as Parker said no car is perfect, and as I say nothing made by humans is perfect.

Regarding #1: I mean if you're trying to park the car wouldn't you be on the lookout for a parking spot? Plus you tell the car to choose the parking spot or not.... If it's barely introduced then it's not going to be perfect. Just like Distronic Plus wasn't perfect when they introduced it back then........

You underplayed the front speaker issue. It started happening recently on my 2013 audi S5 and it's so annoying. You can definitely hear it especially if you're OCD like me.

It makes me sad whenever I hear of a person using park assist. If cars keep going this way the next generation of people won't even know what a steering wheel is.
The little cheap plastic button to open the armrest console, is also not very pleasing in a car like this.
this is a regular car for regular people who dont care about power or sound they just want a nice luxury sedan, 270 hp is way over the economy car standard anyway, if you want power you could buy the same car with the e43 v6, or even the e63 v8 wich has truckloads of power and sound

In general, you shouldn't be relying on your car to park for you- I think these automatic parking features are overkill. The infotainment systems are pointless as well. That's why I prefer older cars, they didn't have any of that stuff, and they were fine without it. Plus, do you really trust all of these computers to be functional after 10 years? All of my electronics function correctly in my 2000 M5 and my 2000 540i, but that's because they have the combined complexity of a pocket calculator. I wish cars would just keep it simple and focus on the driving experience.
Made in USA doesn't help but also most people want gadgets now. They don't care so much about quality. I've driven and worked on almost all models from Benz since 1995. They use way more cheap plastic material now. They are getting more and more like American cars. At least the fit and finish is still perfect.

Well, you really should park the car your self most of the time. Perpendicular parking usually takes less than 3 seconds. Why would you want the car do it for you anyways?? Maybe for old people and woman, but for most drivers, it's really not necessary.
