      Yes that’s when they’re at the max sweetness. Still good but you miss out on some of the tartness

    Hi, Richard. I need help with my dragon fruit plants. My flowers don’t bloom and fall off. Can I buy some pollen from you? I have different varieties of dragon fruit. Thank you. This is my first year growing dragon fruit.

    Yo this is perfect, I just successfully saved a cutting a week or so ago cuz some neighbors trimmed down their overgrown dragon fruit vines, it's now budding it's first branch and I gave it some diluted coffee for nutrition, I wanna create trellises like these but we don't really have a lot of space and pot room, though i'll still certainly plot how to. My next question is, how can I produce abundant vines such as these? it's going to be my first time owning a dragon fruit so I want to treasure this little one. Does it do what most plants to where, if you cut off one stem it would start to branch out in in a Y shape?

    My first fruit ever (Shayna) is at 52 days now and still green. Maybe the cooler weather has slowed down ripening this year? I’m in zone 10b but NorCal / Bay Area.

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah colder temperature can definitely play a part in how long it takes to ripen. Is your fruit a green skin? Some are so make sure you try the wiggle test

      @@GraftingDragonFruit Thank you for the tip, and for all you do to popularize DF growing and grafting! I will keep doing the wiggle test just in case it's a green one. This is Shayna (self-fertile Condor hybrid from CalPoly Pomona) which I think should be red (if the photos on Rare Exotics website are representative). Crossing my fingers!

      I had the same experience with my plant’s first ever fruit this year - I pollinated on sep 21 and took it off the branch still green yesterday Dec 9
      I think it was due to a combination of the plant not being mature enough and cold weather, but the inside was red and it still tasted good!

    In one of your other videos, you said that dragon fruit hibernate during the winter months, even in socal. Do you fertilize year-round, even during this period?

    I inherited 2 crazy wild dragon fruit plants. They grow every which way. One is planted in a planter in-ground along with rose bushes and hard to get to. The other is in a pot but again, growing every which way. I am getting fruit on the one in the planter in-ground and they are fantastic! They have not ben fertilized ever. The one in the pot flowers but fruit turns yellow and does fall off. I do not know either of their varieties but I'm figuring the one in the planter is self pollinating and the other is not. Im going to try and cross pollinate from the one in the planter to the one in the pot. A question I have is how can I calm down the wildness of them both. The one in the planter is up past the roof of my house and therefore, the fruit is going to be hard to reach. Note: I'm 69 and dont love ladders lol. Should I wait till the season is over to try and tame these by pruning? Also, are you in So Cal? Thats where I live. Please help!! Also there is no trellis on either. I've done the best I can on these two but theyre both out of control. Thank you so much for any help you can give me! Your videos are THE BEST!!! I've learned so much from you😊

      I just now watched another of your videos where you stated you live in Anaheim. I live not too far away in Lynwood. Do you ever make house calls so you can actually see my plants? I REALLY need help with them because I LOVE my dragon fruit plants! Also, I'd love to find out what varieties I have.
